Aiton, country mile, Wilkes, Kirmond

Difficult to split Kirmond and Aiton for me, both were excellent. Wilkes was very good and James did well on his first home game. Good to see Frankie back looking fit and in form. Mathers did ok going forward but not sure he it was a MOM performance.

Aiton for me, although Fox and Collis had good games.

It just goes to show (in a MOTM thread) how we all see it differently and why sometimes fans don't agree in general on the rest of the board.

Aiton and Wilkes for me, a better game from Collis, Kirmond a regular good performer and was pleased with Mathers effort after his recent knock

What is the point of waiting till next season ? If it improves the team do it now.

Didn't want to take it from southern mid season while he was still with us, guess I'm too nice to be a coach lol

1. Kirmond - Full time Wakefield captain for me. Must be knocking on the door for the England squad, it would do his confidence no end of good.
2. Wilkes - Best game since returning. I'd start him every week, he gets stuck into sides from the off.
3. Mathers - Good running, backing up and positional defence.

Thats the thing about sport, only the ruthless get to the top and nice guys are the also rans.

add Kirmond to that bunch and agree with you

I couldn't argue with Mathers last night, but after watching it back I'd go for Kirmond. I agree with and earlier post that it was Wilkes best game since returning.

Would say though that Collis had his best game in a wakey shirt and Wilkes his baes game since coming back

That's the problem you see-the fact is that there was only a cats whisker between half a dozen players who had their best games for the club and could easily have got MOM.

Collis had a solid game - but really should have passed to Foxy early on.
Mariano, James, Fox, Sykes, Washy all turned in good efforts.

I can't separate Aiton and Kirmond - both had cracking games.

Agree that Wilkes and Mathers were also good, with special mentions to Smith and Foxy - everything we did that was any good went through Smith and Foxy must be made of leather; is he one of the hardest running wingers in SL? Also saved a match-stealing try by making a big tackle with no regard for his own personal safety.

Also good to see Collis making a nuisance of himself.

Watching the game back, Collis had a very good game and looked strong.

Also thought Wilkes was superb in i his first spell.

How come so many played well and yet we scraped a win.

Falling off tackles too easy when a team is playing catch up rugby, need to learn to wrap the ball up when offloading is all they will be doing.

Glad to see Smith getting mentioned. I though he was very influential in the game and particularly making the effort to run back and stop the breakaway try. Even though he didn't stop it, there were others who should have been there before him and he didn't give up.

Sometimes it just turns out that way.
Even Sky commented on how a team could dominate so much and nearly lose.
All three AGM point scorers in the Lge Exp were Wakey players and all mentioned on here.

Don't worry we'll all be back to bagging them over the next two rounds!!!

I think we played very well for 65 minutes, totally controlled the game and apart from fluffing some really good chances we couldn't have asked for any more.
So there were plenty of positives and some good individual performances but we did allow Salford back in towards the end and could have easily lost the game.
Dont know if it was fitness or panic, but 2 points is 2 points.
