No King or Hicks and a couple of young props

Admittedly the rest looks good but our bench will make the difference I think. I'd have Drew on the bench and take them on for 20 mins then step it up and send the wide runners at them.

drew to start for me, get into em early. target briers even more than normal if he plays, rough him up a bit. even with the best intentions its hard sometimes when you have one eye on something else like they will have.
i'd be tempted to give frank a shot personally, he's not had much game time and will be leaving soon so give him one last shot for me

I was thinking the same when reading this thread. We need to start fast and get into them from the off. I don't think they will be up for it to be honest.

Drew will have to have a massive game, something he hasn't done for a while. He needs to take over from Brough for this game, nothing less will do,

Id be having JD in the centre, pushing gleeson to the wing, atkins and george on the other side. Bring Fergi to 13 and bibb onto the bench, young morton to miss out for me.

That Wire side will end up working for us! IMO they would have been better puting fringe players and young un's out, players wanting to stand out and make a claim for the final, not men who are at the end of the day going to worry (ben westwood apart) about putting their bodies on the line.
First 20 mins will be tough, but no more than we can handle IMO, then fear will set in for them, even if they rack up a cricket score in the first 20 mins, they won't want to get too rough or play too intensively.

Grix SHOULD be playing for his right to play no.6 next year & the rest of the season. We have all felt for him being stuck out on the wing, but to his credit he did his best & did well! No-one could have written a better script for Grix to take his place at no.6 and on into the playoffs, it's just up to him to take it IMO.

I reckon th is will be a tough game.

There's no way the likes of Morley and Westwood are going to shrink away just because of possible injuries. They'll want a good workout and show the boss they can play.

you're right. in practice if you go in half hearted you are more likely to get injured anyway.

Why Henderson? thought he played quite well on sunday tbh, plus Franks just come back from injury and hasn't had a reserve game. For me, Frank would miss out.

i'm sure he will miss out tbh, henderson has been reasonably steady away of late but he doesn't offer much at SL imo other than willing. still feel frank has the basic attributes to offer a bit more than that but circumstance will dictate he wont get to show it for trin.

We coped without Brough early on in the season we can do it again.

Having said that Kear could end up keeping Grix on the wing and introduce Davey at 7

I'd go with that plan, with Grix at 6, Obst at 7 and Drew rotating with Latu at 9. Drew to run the show when on the pitch, then Obst to takeover when he's off.

Then again, I've not really seen any reserves matches this season, so I'm not too sure of Davey's capabilities. Seemed handy in the Boxing Day match though.
