Think the fact schofield is tipping us for bottom says it all.he like some doesnt have rose tinted specs and sees it how it is.where a team that struggled to compete never mind win games over last season and half.with virtually the same squad as those times we can only hope last and poaching can make a massive difference and the players who where really good a couple years ago peform again but there is that worry that maybe they where in there peak then.
Ill know doubt get stick for this but its just about been realistic we will struggle to stay up..not saying we will go down but deffo think we have battle on hands

I wouldn’t back Schofield to pick the winner of the boat race if Oxford were disqualified 2 days before the race. He’s absolutely gash at predictions and has always picked us as the easy option

Correct, but facts don't suit some people.

In the back room we have strengthened considerably in my opinion and this along with recruitment on the conditioning will I hope make the difference.

When you look at the current squad to 2020 we have lost some considerable depth in some positions.

Bjb*
Kirmond
Atkins
Gigot
Koppy*
Gwaze

Now out of these I’ll be brutally honest in that only BB and Koppy are losses in terms of lessening the quality of the first team.

Mason Lino brings some much added quality (we hope) in the halfs and kicking which has been one of our problems the past 2 seasons.

The other issue for me is props. There’s a lot of discussion on whether what we have is enough. For me it isn’t. Last season I believe we had many games where we had props injured and we struggled to make metres and impact down the middle. It was glaringly obvious in a number of games with there being 100s of metres difference between the two.

Baring in mind we struggled the middles in terms of injuries and availability last season and are two props lighter I honestly do think this is an area for concern.

I also don’t think we should be rushing out and signing any prop forward and we need players that will improve us only.

If we go in as we are I’m happy with the squad but don’t think the props are strong enough in depth or ability as they are.

I’m hoping with the continued growth of players like Crowther, Batch, Jowitt who are starting to mature and the investment in back room we can offset that loss in depth from the above players.

So I feel 2 props are needed still.

I’d love it if we sign Battye but still think we could do with another prop who can eat up the hard yards. Easier said than done so I don’t envy the club looking g for that player!

Oh and the disclaimer at the end is due to people lile yourself with very little knowledge and spends all day on here..it was only a week ago i said about losing a couple of players and been shot down but hang on one of those players is no longer here..funny that

2 props are needed 1 or 2 injuries and where buggered in that postion deffo but a thing for me is players getting back to where they where 2 years ago i think its fair to say for different reasons not all there own fault a good amount of players form dropped in ladt 18 months hence a win ratio of about 8 in 40 so these lads need to get back to where they where.

Credit no where have i took credit its more of a " i dont know what im talking about" and without checking belive you was one suggested my thoughts of players simply leaving been somwhat stupid (without that been the correct wording)and basically been laughed off but thwln only a few days later the same thing happening.now i just hope a player comes in who will be more use to the team

So far the only new player we’ve signed is Lino. Any person who didn’t need to visit Wiki to find out who he was is a liar imho.

Even if our Lupset legend knew who he was which I doubt he can’t know how good he is seeing as he branded him ‘an unknown quantity’.

Knowing a lot about RL has nothing to do with how many players you know, you could do that by collecting the RL equivalent of Panini cards. I’m sure CC will tell you there is a lot more to it than that.

You have no idea whether he ‘simply left’ or not? They may have had to pay him off in full? That’s the problem. No one really knows anything on here! We are all guessing

To be fair though most people on here are just speculating for fun without malice. A small core has an agenda against the club full stop, baffles me but they do.

For me, every season is a fresh start and every player has a clean slate. If 30+ years watching the game has taught me anything it's that what happened the previous season is largely irrelevant, unless of course you desperately want it to be.

Two examples.

2003, just avoided relegation with a team considered poor by most. Following season with more or less the same team, 2004, we very nearly made the GF.

2015: Again last-minute reprieve. 2016, new coach after a shaky start sees the best try seen at Wakefield this millennium, followed by two outstanding seasons, certainly entertainment-wise, 2017/2018. Then after a great start in 2019 (top 4 for a while and looking genuine challengers), injuries hit and the wheels fell off.

Nobody could predict the above. Always best to judge after the event.
