Well that should make all the Aiton bashers ecstatic.

Losing Aiton would be a massive blow but sadly it is inevitable, along with two or three others. Its going to be a long old winter.

Looking at the Italians on Sunday, most of them looked better than the sheeite that had the National shirt on. I suspect we will be looking at a few George Carmont types for the squad to replace out going players.
Not a big Aiton fan at first but he finished last season in style. If he is going, Leeds have bagged a good player.

The aiton rumour has been doing the rounds for months. When we played them at home it was mentioned Aiton going with mcshane +cash/other players in return

Given the playing budget has been maxed out with just 16 players on the books for next seaaon there will have to be some departures before any arrivals can be announced, unless of course we have a rush on season tickets, which will be unlikely as even a number of seasoned supporters are holding off on purchasing until they see some satisfactory signings being made.

Thats not how I undertand it . I seem to remember that Aiton was considered to be inexpensive when he first arrived but that his deal was improved and he extended his contract, he is now a top earner at Wakefield. If I understood correctly what we were told at the public meeting then we need to do some deals where we ` sell ` a player but get more players back in return. I think MC said that we had a budget of £ 1.2 million based on selling 3000 season tickets and that the £ 1.2 million was accounted for with the 17 players we had on the books at that time. So we cannot go into next season with only 17 players, we cannot risk spending more money in the hope that we sell more that 3000 season tickets. So we have no doubt been looking to sell, move on some of the higher paid players ie sell Amor and get Smith with a net result of of reducing the wage bill and the hope of getting another player ( if we sell the budgeted 3000 season tickets ) . So the Aiton deal has to happen, I would think that we will be looking to sell Aiton for a cash figure , it will be relativly low but take say five Leeds players on loan for the season at very favourable rates ie Leeds still paying theor wages. So we will have a net gain of 4 players to the squad. I just do not see how we can get a 27 ish man playing squad without doing deals like this. I hope that we get McShane in return plus say Ricahard Moore, both players who will never let you down plus say three Leeds juniors

I posted elsewhere a few weeks ago to be very weary when G. Hetherington is publicly denying any interest in certain players as was the case with T.Briscoe and now it seems Aiton!!

If Aiton goes so be it. We should get the best deal possible. Average some games like mid last year but good when his head is in the game like season close.

I like him but if a decent deal can be done and a decent fringe player or 2 from Leeds can be brought in for 2014 + some cash I'm all for a deal like this.

I really like him but not as a dummy half. If RA is going to continue to play a player who in my opinion is the worst passer in the team and the worst unforced error maker at dummy half then I'm happy for him to go. Let's go with Wildie. Tin hat time.

I thought he was in the top 2 players for us last year maybe even top 1 and dont buy into this only played well at the back end of the season business.

I may be mistaken but didn't his team mates and coach pick him for the POTY/Man Of Steel awards at the end of the season, before the likes of Danny K? Says alot to me. He would be a big, big miss, but unfortunately needs must and all that.

I'm not doubting his work rate or tackling or go forward. Remember our winning run last year?

Aiton's pass isn't the worst in the team but it is too slow.

If Aiton goes, why not coach Chris Annakin into a hooker,strong,great passer of the ball and always looking for opportunities.

What concerns me about the idea of exchanging Paul for Leeds players is , they would be either worse than WAKEFIELDS OWN or not good enough to keep Hunslet in the championship . Also I think it’s becoming concerning that there are only two clubs shedding players and not recruiting , one = London one = ????

I watched the highlights DVD of that 7 game winning run and the zip we had at the play the ball was significant in that run of form.

Aiton will make a first rate Leeds player. If you think you have seen the best of him at Wakey, tthink again.
I think we will be left thinking, why didn't he show that type of form at Wakey.
For me hes not a big loss, ok he put some good stints in, but nothing like often enough.
Just hope a good deal can be done, and I will be more than pleased.
