I am also in the Kaye camp as a better choice than Gaskell. In fact Gaskell would not get near my 17 as I would go with Smith and Lino in halves. Hood hooker and Crowther to give him a breather.

I'm sure you know of all people on here, I wouldn't shoot the Coach down for trying something.
I'm not a fan of Gaskill at full back but to me he's the only one with experience. If not you are moving multiple players out of position.
I'm happy for Smith to have a crack at 6 and Kay at hooker with Hood
If it has to be Kay then I'll cheer him on just the same.

We can’t put Gaskell back in at FB. However experienced he might be he does not have the legs for it. He looked patched up with his arm last week as well. It certainly won’t do his confidence any good to be yards away from the try scorers again.
Kay is a decent shout, he has a good head on him and did he used to be a Stand off years ago. Definitely worth a try, and whatever we do it is a gamble

I do know that yes, what i will say is if somone told you 2 years ago kaye wouldnt be a winger hed be a 9 you probably also say never infact most would say more a 1 than a 9.for me dont think hes either to be honest but like you ill support whoever plays where as long as they try

Guys Guys Guys.. I must apologise. I have been too harsh and critical on Gaskell. After watching tonight's game it is now obvious to me that he was only playing to Mash's instructions. He was making sure he never got near the scorer so to avoid an 8pt try.

As long as they come out fired up and win or the very least a good performance I don’t care who goes where . This game is all about putting some pride back into the shirt and to show us fans they are committed to the cause . I’ll do my bit cheering on from NS lower tier ,and I’ll leave the rest to the coach and players to do their bit .

Well that's an extremely good point. I would never have picked him a hooker and he's made that move very well.
However, he got that chance when there were no other options. I just think we have more options yet.

If we up our intensity in defence we will see a marked improvement altogether. Out of all the teams I’ve seen this year, our intensity is way off the mark. Our line speed is atrocious and kick chase. You don’t need a state of origin team to have intent and fitness in your team.

Totally agree. I'm very disappointed with what I've seen so far, I honestly thought speed and defence would have been top notch after the close season and with a new coach. No different so far than it has been for years and without that improving we'll stay where we are.

It’s been really strange, with playing 4 pre season games and starting back earliest in SL, are we over cooked already. Both games we have looked really fatigued. Time will tell I suppose. The second half intensity against Fev was where I expected us to be at in regards to our intensity etc. I’m just hoping that we are in a early season blip with teething issues. I mean has the pitch helped preparation? I just hope we serve up better than last week. We’ll soon find out.

The kicking is a big concern for me as well, both the kick-chase and the lack of distance.Field position is everything, and at the moment we seem to be playing most of the game in our own half.It can be a massive moral booster to see a kick that takes you from one 25 to the other.Have we anybody that can kick long?
I agree with everything that's been said in last two posts.I too thought we would be up for it, but we are way off!

I’ve got the day off today, so watched Brisbane against Penrith. I know it’s the NRL and I know they spend god knows how many more million then us, but the kicking game, kick chase intensity and just pure intensity from both sides for 80 minutes was unreal. What I noticed was if Reynolds or Cleary got a poorish kick away (I’d be jumping for joy if either our halves could manage one of their poorish kicks) then the kick chase more than made up for it. Not only is our kicking game 9/10 poor but our kick chase is also atrocious. We simply up our intensity or we stand no chance of competing. Wigan were good last week, clinical, high intensity and high completion especially in the first half. But nothing that we haven’t seen before. All SL teams would of dicked us last week with that soft attitude. They say defence wins you games, well we don’t have a prayer unless we fire up and fast.

I'm as optimistic as the next man but, with what we've produced thus far and with a couple of injuries thrown into the equation, I cant see a Trinity win.
I will be there offering encouragement and crossed fingers but, the bookies have us with 10 start and something close to that would be a decent result..

Am i, i didnt know team and certainly wouldnt post on here if i did i only know whos playing for reserves for what i assume is obvireasons,i actually think liam will do a better job at fb than gaskell if thats the case but ultimately all i care about is my team winning or at least been in the game still with 10 to go
