| Depends what you are looking for.
For consistancy and effort - in other words professionalism then for me, Arona, Ashurst, Finn, Hadley, Huby and Wood in no particular order.
For magic and skill then, BJB, MCB, Toupu, Miller, Fifita and Grix.
Massve improvers, Hirst, Lyne, Arundal, Anakin, and of late England. The whole team really.
Enigma's, Williams he's had his moments but just not enough - the difference between him and Miller was just to obvious and with Randall probably due on the bench I'm guessing that unless there is an injury that's it. Walker also, but you can't condone his foolish behaviour.
Unlucky - The wingers have had great service this year and for me TJ is still the best, what a shame. Ditto Batchelor who was really shaping up. Poor old Crowther hasn't had a look in, with Batchelor stealing it early doors and Hadley being so damned good. Jowitt is the real elephant in the room, he has his fans but what can you say, the Coaches have been proved right time and time again with Grix - that one really needs putting to bed now - Grix is knocking on, Jowitts time will come.

| For consistency its got to be Woody for me - 80 mins most games and the traffic sent to him each game by other teams forwards is enormous but he never flinches and comes back with some very good go forward & distribution.

| Arona for me.
Don't recall him having a bad game all season, even at Huddersfield and always can be relied on.

Him and Johnstone were probably the only ones who played well at Headingley as well.

I can't split these and would be happy with either but the whole team could get a mention really after this season

| Ashurst just edging Wood for me, but I would like to see Arundel pick an award up, like Ashurst a 100% player when called upon especially not being first choice centre in a lot of people's eyes.

| A lot of the squad have had great seasons. Wood has been excellent.
However for me it has to be Arona who is true class and every week making yards and tackling hard in the loose forward role. He is a machine. Don't know what contract he is on but he should be on a five year deal. Wouldn't surprise me if a wealthier club tries to prise him away from Trinity before next season. Hope not..

| If I had to pick I'd go for Fifita or Wood. Kyle Wood has been better than the previous 2 hookers we've had. By a country mile as well. If Miller hadn't been injured so long I could have seen him pick something up. MCB for me has had an amazing season too. I felt sorry for him being dropped on Thursday - I didn't really see what he had done wrong any more than any other player the week before. They were all e.

| Ashurst or Arona for me. Don't often get the credit they deserve, but they do the hard yards well in terms of MOM awards and are the backbone of our defence and play to a consistent level week in week out.

This is the all round best season I've seen at Wakefield.

| Quote ="wildshot"With five, maybe seven matches left (hopefully) it is probably time to start thinking about who has been the fans' player of the season. It has been a very memorable and exceptional year with no single player standing out head and shoulders above the rest. So who would you choose?
For me, due to consistency of performance my choices would be:
1. Arona
2. Fifita (not Fafita because no such player exists)
3. Hirst
I would then struggle to pick between Ashurst and Finn for 4th and 5th place.
It is really tough this year because many players are worthy contenders.'"
Guess you can spell fifita but would question your knowledge of rugby league - fail to see how a non starting prop who rarely if ever has started a game could be considered as a potential player of the year. Especially in front of an ever present such as wood and ashurst.
Too close to call for me but ashurst arona and wood

That's why it's a vote. People see different things.
Coming off the bench isn't a reflection of being second best like in the old days. It's just a different style.
The starting props and the bench props are generally on the field for the same amount of time.

| Hope you dont mind a Cas fans opinion on here .
Ive attended quite a few games at Belle Vue due to my best mate being a Wakey fan .
From those games and what Ive seen on TV I would go :
Ashurst : massively underrated forward and much better than some internationals this year .
Finn : Ex Cas lad who has guided the team magnificently this year , the legs may have gone but the rugby brain he has is easily on par with the likes of Gale , Sneyd etc.
Fifita : Great signing , no nonsense barnstorming prop who seems to lift both the fans and the players.
Honourable mentions to Arona , Lyne and MCB .

Maybe somethng to do with being by far the biggest meter maker of any forward, most carries in the side, has an excellent average gain, rarely misses a tackle and most of the time oppostion players just can't handle him. We haven't had a forward that offers that kind of X Factor in years. As far as coming off the bench, how does that matter? Ftr he's started 13 times and come off the bench 11 times this season anyway & as PT says, being a starter or on the bench, that doesn't indicate how good you are anymore at Prop. It's obvious he could start more and has done like against Leeds but CC has used him has an impact Prop and he's done the job exceptionally well imo. When he plays well, he lifts the whole team.
I'll leave you to question my knowledge now. What an y thing to say, just because someone has a different point of view to you.
For me it's hard to seperate Fifita, Arona & Ashurst this season and you coud probably make good arguements for about 3 or 4 more others.
Tupou has had a good season as well, scored tries, makes meters for fun and learned to pass to his winger.
BJB as well has had an excellent season
Don't know whether you'd put him in the most improved category because we knew he could play and had pace to burn, but MCB has stepped in and been excellent for us. Thinking about it most improved probaby has to go to Hirst.
Wood's done everything that's been asked of him & more this season . Been a bit of a surprise tbh how well he's done.
Grix started off brilliantly, did have a few poor games but came back strong in the last one to show everyone that he's still got it in him.
Finny has well just been Finny, consistant. Nothing flashy but just knows how to guide the team around the pitch and uses his excellent Rugby brain to great effect.

| I've been a very proud supporter this season of the whole team and of course it could get even better yet... let's wait and see.So it's really hard to pick a stand out player of the year reading all the posts on this subject there is a good shout for several candidates. I'd say the top 3 for consistency of performance would be Arona, Ashurst and Wood with Fifita and Finn close behind but I wouldn't be surprised at anyone being awarded the accolade, the whole team deserve great credit for what they have achieved this season.

All that and i think he was referring to the inclusion of Hirst in the 3 nomination not Fifita
