| I will add that, despite the poor refereing, WE lost the game today because we were'nt good enough!
Also as with the league game a couple of weeks ago Noble outcoached JK.
Undersatndable to a degree because Noble has greater options and a higher quality of squad to work with.
However. . . .

| The first Wigan try was a blatant forward pass, O'loughlin is stood 1 metre behing the '20' line and the ball hits the ground at least another metre infront of it.
Having said all that Wigan were the best side and deserved the win.

But my complaint is why can the paying public/TV etc see them and not the officials that are being paid to officiate correctly?
Agree Wigan had more in the tank than us on the day again.

| Quote ="The Clan"I thought the video ref was spineless in his decision to award the try after Hocks elbow on Pitts!
The correct decision was to disallow the try but unfortunately that would also mean a red card for Hock.
Too big of a decision for the officials when an easy option of awarding the try is available.'"
I thought that was quite a difficult decision to make cos that's the way gareth cock plays and I'm not sure he knows any different, I think that decision could have gone either way and there were arguments for and against the decision. I thought the ref had a decent game but it's the linesmen who were, and always are, shocking. They just seem to have an inability to spot forward passes which is surely their job??

| Quote ="Green Greedo"The thing i'm gettting sick of week in week out is the blatant forward passes going unpunished.
Its not just the odd one its numerous thats making it get more like the good old days of the rugby union forward pass that got overlooked.
Its getting now with myself to think hard about paying my hard earned money to watch refs(and linesmen especially) just overlook blatant flaunting of the rules every week.
This is happening openly on Sky TV every week for the whole of the sporting nation to have a gripe also as its effecting most teams.
Players will do it and coaches will teach it if they don't clamp down.'"
I fully agree with your post, I must say like most others we were not cheated out of the game today and this is not an excuse but it is getting stupid, I think the only way to beat it is to join in the fun and delay our passes when it gives us the edge we may need! Also I think we should learn to lay on for longer as most other teams seem to be doing this alot (dont tell scully and martin though they take it to the extreme sometimes!)

| Putting the result to one side. Many of Bentham's decisions today really do need looking at. As for the touch jouges - is there really any point in giving them any responsibiliy at all? TV footage is the ideal opportunity to put the standard of refereeing under the microscope

| Had a word with one Jonathan Davies after the game and he thought Wigan was the best team BUT a few reffing non decisions helped them on the front foot,I.E the forward passes.

| The refs should be sorting out infringments like the use of elbows... not to say any names! Many a time was there line miles offside and nothing got said.... Linesmen are just as bad tho.... forward passes! So at least 2 of their tries should have been disallowed

| Apart from:
* Being allowed to lay on (which we did when we realise we could get away with it)
* Being off side most of the time (so Brad Drew did the decent thing and tried a chip over - the trouble is he only tried once)
* Leading with your arm ( he might need to have a chat on Tuesday but it won't help us any)
* Mike Fawshaw was on the pitch (a lot more than he ever was when he played for us )
So what's up?????

| Touch Judges are a waste of space, no doubt, but it evens out. They scored from a forward pass but had a real try ruled out when Grix lost the ball. We got a try when Martin was off-side, but they didn't look at that.
No complaints about result. We dropped it too often, as simple as that, so we never applied any pressure.
Now Wembley is no more, if Hudds win tomorrow, I expect money to change hands, and a player or two.

| I'm not Gareth Hock's biggest fan but I didn't see much wrong with it. It looked much worse in lose motion, the full speed replays showed it to be little more than him pushing the defender away.

I only saw it on the big screen at the ground, but I thought it looked like the tackler came across Hock, and so was off-balance, and so went down easier than if he had been running into Hock (ie, the tacklers own momentum was away from Hock, rather than towards him). The Tomkins kick was worse, and he should have got ten minutes for that, and so a cruel shot that he scored the decisive try.
I think Wakey lost the game more than Wigan won it though. Obst was left isolated against that big girl Fielden when he went through to score, and our defence gifted that other curly-haired big girl the break that led to the try.
I suppose JJB will be full again now they are the best team in the world again.

| I thought the Hock try was sure to be disallowed for leading with the forearm. I don't think it was a sin binning or sending off offence but was IMO definately a penalty. I seriously have to question the video referees judgement.

| First Wigan try forward pass. Second Wigan try pick any one from three, a combination of Wigan penalty from a scrum (still baffled by that one), forward pass, leading with forearm (lucky to remain on the pitch) I recon.

| You scored off a blatant forward pass at the KC a few weeks ago and no one was complaining then. Swings and roundabouts. Some you win, some you lose. It's generally the sides who play the game with a faster tempo that seem to get away with these things because the refs and touchy's struggle to keep up. Best side won so stop moaning

| I`m not sure we can always blame touchies re forward passes/offsides, they do not flag for these, they inform the ref who then makes an informed decision (allegedly). If they see a player offside they report "player X offside", if the player is deemed to be in an advantageous position he will then say "and involved", at which point the ref SHOULD award a penalty. Flags are only raised to denote ball out of play or foul play. I think the above points are to save yet more embarrassment for the merry whistleblowers.
p.s. I fully expect to see Bentham doing next week`s Catalans game.

| Quote ="Wakefieldite"OK, so is it now legal for players to fist off tacklers, like that dirty get Hock did yesterday? This is supposed to be rugby league, not cage fighting!! He also did the same thing several more times. Absolutely disgusting behaviour!!!
Another thing, when are the RFL gonna even look at revising the "waterboy" rule, because Forshaw once again puked up all over it. Its been abused to an incredible degree.
MIKE FORSHAW, I WON'T TELL YOU AGAIN - IF YOU'RE THAT BOTHERED ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS ON THE PITCH, IF YOU'RE CAN RUN THAT LONG WITHOUT FEELING KNACKERED, AND YOU REALLY WANT TO BE THERE, DUST OFF YOU'RE BOOTS AND START PLAYING AGAIN!!!!'"
Oh dear, your little 'rants' get more amusing!!!

| If the ref actually penalised all the holding on in the tackle Danny Sculthorpe would have been sin binned. As the amount of times he held the Wigan player down when he carried the ball into the tackle was a joke.
At least five times in the second half he was stoppping the Wigan player getting up in an attempt to get a penalty for himself. Hes a disapointment as a player had real potential but seems to ahve gone backwards.
As for the Hock try. was nothing wrong with it at all. Stop blaming the ref as a few of you here are. But dont get me started on the touch judge that quite clearly did not know where the whitewash was. He missed 1 40/20 for Wigan and a foot in touch by a Wakey player.
The better side won.

| Let me ask this question, If had been the other way round and it was Pitts arm/elbow/hand on Hock's throat/chin would he have got away with it.
I don't think so.
