| I've read these pages and hoped that this story was a load of cobblers but I know some of the posters and know their connections to the Club and therefore I have resigned myself to the fact that Danny Brough has played his last game in a Wakefield shirt.
I'm very disappointed that he is leaving but I know that the Board made him a very good offer, indeed the best anyone has ever been offered at Wakefield. Unfortunately it would appear that Danny's financial predicament has resulted in that offer not being accepable as he has a better offer from Huddersfield which he looks like accepting. I don't think we as a Club could have done anymore and I hope fans will not blame the Club and start posting negative posts about the Club, lack of ambition, suits, Marks & Spencer etc. etc.
I don't hold any grudges against Danny at all. He has a wife and young family to think about and if this move helps to alleviate his financial plight in some way can anyone blame him, I think we would all do the same if we were unfortunate to be in his financial predicament.
What I find hard to understand is how Huddersfield can afford to sign him and keep within the Cap but I'm sure they will have thought that one through. What I also find hard to understand is why do they want him. They are a good side and as good a player as Danny is I don't think they need him now. All I can think is that they are looking to next year and fear that as he comes out of contract they may face competition from the likes of Wigan and Saints and don't want to get into an auction.
I just hope that if players are coming our way we do not get any "make weights" but as I have said on many occasions before "In Kear We Trust" and I'm certain we wont do too badly out of any deal.
I wish him all the very best (except of course when he is playing against us) and thank him for his time at Wakefield. I just hope that the matter is concluded early next week and we can move on and concentrate on the upcoming game with Salford.

As usual you are logical in what you say, but i think it does set our season back a fair way, For DB the difference could well be a percentage of any transfer fee/and or signing on fee as a lump sum, which if out of contract he may well not have got? / got too late?
who knows? maybe only DB and shudds
Just narks me to find I have to accept another club is above us in the pecking order, no blame to WTRLFC Ill admit , but it still isnt easy to swallow.

| You'd have thought that if Brough signs for Hudds and no one leaves they'll be over the cap. Therefore surely some players must be coming our way or Brough or another may well be loaned to us until the end of the season to balance Hudds books.
Brough is a very good player, but the club should always come first. We did everything we could to keep the lad and unfortunately that wasn't enough. Brough has played well for us but everyone moves on. Players come and go and are replaced. We have youngsters crying out for chances, and who knows one of them may grab the opportunity.
Murphy, Morton, Pitts, Davey are all examples of players who have benefitted from players injured or banned. Adversity seems to bring the best out of our players

| Heard that it will be announced on Tuesday.
Sounds set in stone, just hope we do well out of it.
Danny has brought us on leaps and bounds, but nobody is bigger than the club. We have lost many good players in the past and still progressed.
Didn't like his attitude with the Morton pass thing at Craven Park.
As JK said about another speculation...
If its right for WTW and right for HG and its right for DB, then let it happen
As has been said many times, IN JK WE TRUST.

As I say it's a free country and Mr Davey can spend his money as he sees fit, Idon't resent that but at least be honest and don't insult our collective intelligences by pretending he doesn't splash the cash in a big way - he does!'"
Well yes. ALL clubs barring Leeds and Hull FC are subsidised by somebody since they're the only ones who's books balance. I was talking specifically about paying a transfer fee for Brough.

| Brett Hodgson? If so thats a massive blow but Lawrence is a more than able replacement as hes shown already. Can't see how Brough will fit into your side to be honest. Looks like you've got the perfect balance and two gobby $hites in Robinson and Brough may just become a little unsettling. I know Brown has aspirations for LR at hooker but I think there'd be a battle for authority with him and Broughy on the pitch at the same time as they both like to be the controlling figure. Aspinwall looks a certainty to be coming to us any ideas on the potential second player, Kermond has been mentioned but I doubt you'd let him leave as he looks to have a great future but I suppose its how much you want Broughy.

Would explain why we let Kyle Bibb go on loan. Looks a decent forward which would also help compliment Gledhill's devdlopment who i can't imagine will play week in week out just yet.
If that's true regarding Brett Hodgson that'd be a great shame. He ouses class and has be a big player in the Giants push towards the top of the table. That would explain how they could afford Brough's wage and stay under the cap though

I must say the one thing that is confusing me in all this is why we would let brough go before the end of the season. The offer would have to be a really good one to make any sense (maybe this is where the initial rumours of a couple of players and some cash came from), as the bottom line is whether we like it or not, we do not have anyone else in the squad who can give us what Brough does and we would definitely be weaker in the halves with Sam and BJ or Bj and Cooke playing there.. Finishing as high as we can again this season will be important for a franchise point on "adding to the competition" or whatever being competitive was badged as.

Narks me too but we will have to accept it. Until we get a new ground, improve our gates and therefore income and can pay out the full Cap we have to reluctantly accept that we cannot compete financially with better supported clubs or those with "sugar daddies".
