Look, DB is a very good player - not great (yet?) but very good. If he would be happier elsewhere, let him go and let one of our good young players have a pop at SL. The only thing Deacon is going to Wigin for is the pies for Sculthorpe.

Deacon is coming as a coach though by all accounts he will not play unless we have an injury to either of our halves.

Shrewd bit of business in my opinion, he has always been a good organiser with a cracking kicking game but never been top class, he is on his way out of the sport but is still a pretty good back up option especially given the major reshuffles Wigan had to do last year when either half was injured.

It also ensures our options remain open for 2011.

I don't know the fine details of the Brough deal but I know the basics of what we have put to him. Its a very good deal but its up to the guy to accept it and we can't do anymore. So here are our options.

1. Brough sees the light and signs up.
2. He dosn't accept it but someone comes in with a big transfer fee. Not ideal because we would struggle at halfback next season but the money would be good and we would have to manage.
3. He dosn't sign but plays out his contract. Thats OK because he is probably the best British half we could have but for what he's on we could probably replace with a class Aussie and it will give us a season to look around and tinker with our squad.

And none of those options are really bad, because if he signs up, we've got him, if he goes, it will help the club, and if he sees out his contract, he will be in the shop window and probably have the best season of his career.
