I thought Owens tackle on Shenton stopping the try turned the game . On a another note no "Sweet Caroline" NA NA NA they are poor losers down the Jungle

Well done Wakey boys. A great start to the season for us and in full view of Garry Schofield who was commentating for Radio Yorkshire.

I really wanted to go to this one but was en route to Manchester airport (where I am now). It sounded like a great finale and a strong finish from the boys. Hopefully strong finishes will be the norm for us this year, we just need better starts.

Actually couple of cas fans in front of us shook our hands at final hooter,and wished us well.Probably got as many bad losers as us.
Amazed we had any gas left to get back into it.Amount of ball we gave up early in tackle count close to cas line in first 40,constantly alleviating pressure was very frustrating.Also constant pressure for first 15 of second half on our line should have done for us.
One thing they showed us was how to build pressure,especially combined with a decent kicking game to finish.
At 22-6 they looked like rolling us easy and I couldn't see a comeback.So chuffed I can't judge a game to save my life.

The 10 minutes goal line defence in the second half allowed us to go on and give ourselves a chance of winning a game, against all the odds.

We were ok in the first half, but managed to bomb some good chances but, the spirit to hang on and then go on and win the game was immense.
And as other posters have already said, the Owen tackle on the line against Shenton was a game changer.

Tremendous spirit in the squad and an excellent win for the boys.

Thought Castleford controlled the majority of the game, great to see us win a game where we normally lose one (last 20 minutes). We withstood a lot of pressure in defence, looked good in attack when we used the ball. Craig Hall is a class act. Fitness looks better. Hull KR will be a tough challenge next week, lets get Belle Vue buzzing and create some noise next week for the lads.

(I like the look of the new young 'uns we've signed, but I would have thought the club would have got them proper kit!)

Great, gutsy performance to pull back what looked like an insurmountable lead at half time; Owen had a blinder, Hall was safe as houses and our entire forward pack looked dominant. MoM for me though was probably McShane - he's a proper player. Still got plenty of creases to iron out - too much gifted possession, too many daft penalties and too many Hollywood passes when they weren't necessary - but that could easily be early season cobwebs.

Cas look as well drilled as ever under Powell, but the class they've lost in the off-season really showed; without Clark, Huby and Sneyd and with Carney now a busted flush, they just didn't have the quality to finish the game off - and they looked knackered in the last 20-25 mins.

Happy days - 2 points that not many expected us to get.

I did not see that comeback coming but surely Cas could not of played with that vigour all game. Said Hall was the signing of season he is a player on the way up and not down. Excellent yards from penalties and did not miss with goalkicks.I thought Mcshane was lively. Anderson pick of forwards thought Scrutton and Paea looked very ponderous. Excellent effort let's all get down to Belle Vue Sunday!

Knew he would go ok today as last year he did there. Ask me in 5 games.He is very slow for a winger tho.

Thought Scruton showed up well. Haven't seen any stats yet but he appeared to put him a fair few crucial tackles.

I don't think either Scruton or Paea were ponderous - they weren't always running onto the ball, but that's a timing issue that will get better as more games unfold; I thought our forwards did an excellent job of wearing down the Cas defenders, and the rotation was spot on - with the addition of Kirke, I think our pack will have that attritional effect on quite a few sides this season; we could finish a few games in similar style.

Think the 'fitness issue' can be put to bed!

Was a rather pleasant train journey back to the north east! Treat myself to a bit of celebratory malt whisky! And Elbow in my ears! THROW THOSE CURTAINS WIDE, ONE DAY LIKE THIS A YEAR WILL SEE ME RIGHT! (Id like a few more days like that this season please)

Watch the highlights and pay attention to the number of times that our forwards find their elbows and knees and land on their front.

We were dominant in the forwards and that laid the foundations for the win.

Couldn't disagree more but that's the beauty of the game and opinions. Cas should have put the game to bed by the 60th minute. The reason they didn't was down to wonderful goalline defence, not our forwards being on top.

Avenger is right - though you are correct regarding goal line defence which was stunning.

Even up to 60 mins I was saying to the mates that we hadn't played too badly, we fluffed a few chances and they took one or two that in other games wouldn't have stuck.
