Kayes no full back but we’re down to the bare bones but we started well nice disciplined structured play and they couldn’t cope. Then individual player mistakes and let Salford back into the game.

Sh1t stinks, that’s what we seem to be. Rudderless and clueless. A half back pair that couldn’t beat an egg. A club driving its fan base away.

A few bullet points from me:

Lino - nowhere near good enough.
Fifita - thought it was one of his better recent games.
We missed Westerman massively.
Miller is woefully out of form.
Kershaw did well all things considered.
Distribution from HB was no better than with Kaye last week who at least offered a running threat.
Kaye tried hard again out of position.
Salford on paper far stronger than us and we still had chances but we just weren't good enough. You wouldn't know we were coached by a former high quality pivot.
Substitutions were baffling, only injuries can explain them.

Do we know what his after match excuse was this time.

All I seem to be doing these days is wishing the season away, disappointed with another loss but fingers crossed we’ve already done enough to see us playing Super League for at least another season.

I did feel a little uneasy when the so called "unbiased" commentary team were regularly referring to Salford as "We", but there again Adrian Morley was one of them.

Whilst I'm not a member of the 'Chester Out' brigade, I think this game and the Cas game have sealed the fate of CC at the end of the season. No real excuses for performances like that.
We need a change of coach at the end of the season. We seem to to have fallen into the trap again of the need to fulfil fixtures being more important than actually winning any. Treading water in SL is not really an option for increasing support, especially when the other 2 teams in WMDC are appearing at Wembley today.

Does anyone think Chris Chester won't be head coach next year. I reckon the deal has already been done so we can enjoy a further two years of frustration watching 13 players runn9ng around in the attacking 20, each with no idea what the other is going to do.

Yes, I think he won't be coach next year.
He knows (& MC knows) this is a results-based business and excuses were made for the special circumstances of 2019 and 2020, but a lack of improvement and poor performances this year means we need a change of regime. The Leeds, Cas and Salford games were performances which should have been better. The excuses are now irrelevant and we need to change something.

Unfortunately I think Chester will be here next year, it’s hinted in his recent interviews regarding Gaskell, Crowther and Jowitt. There won’t be a good time to announce his extension so why not get it over with.

I fully expect him to be here net season and the worry is we will have an even weaker squad.i think there will be less season ticket renewals meaning less income again.the squad we are assembling already seems to be less than inspiring. Add to this the recent record of new players is somwhat dissapointing.that said i stll dont believe its certain we will be sl next season leigh are going to improve and are bringing in new players.

On attack, our player with the ball had no idea what they were doing.

It's very obvious that Lino isn't an organiser and we knew that Miller wasn't.
The "leader" of our side is Westerman who, unfortunately didn't play yesterday.

It doesn't help when we throw 4 potential "assists" into the stands though
Yesterday looked like our firs pre season game, with far too many players going through the motions because they know that they will be selected next week and we couldn't cope with Pauli in the second half, knocking holes in our defensive line and scattering players all over.
On the subject of not wanting to postpone games, IF we were in a position for a covid postponement (without getting hit for a 24 - 0 result), we should bloody well postpone - especially yesterdays game where Salford were more than "fortunate" to postpone the original fixture.

We all know Chester is going nowhere because if he was it would have happened before the start of this season. I expect he will be given at least another two year contract so based on history expect stagnation and a constant fight to avoid relegation.

Unless we recruit the pivotal players who will set up the attacking structure for us, sadly they cost a fair fortune.

Been saying it for ages FIL - a changed player - for the better - since he left us.

Salford certainly made good use of him last night.
Nobody deemed able to tackle him and when we threw 3/4 players into the tackle, they had plenty of space on the back of it.
His offload for their try on the RHS was excellent.

The problem apparently was not the effort but the failures of the senior players. I am sure we would all agree if this was a one off performance rather than the fact it occurs regardless of who we put out to play.
I have watched two championship clubs who have more of a game plan and structure than us.

I just watched two championship clubs with championship defences.

And they also have championship attacks. Sadly we also appear to have one of those.
