| Quote ="jungle man"Been able to state that you will paint a few walls and get the bogs clean, isn't exactly putting your neck on the block is it now. Don't get me wrong, all fan want to hear good news and winge when it's quiet, but I for one trust that the people running the club are making decisions for the right reasons i.e. Ben Bailey Homes etc. RW may (in your eys) be the biggest bull*hitter of all time, but he said the plans would be in before Christmas (that was questionned) it happened, he said that we would get planning permission (that was questionned) it happened. We are dealing with 2 very high profile companies and he has said that planning application will be going in to the council in August, and I believe him.
The point I was trying to make, is that the headline of 'Most important meeting in the clubs history' ended up the same as when big Ted went on the pitch at half-time to say they would definately not be looking at a ground share with Cas (even though we were up for it). In closing, if Cas had announced this world breaking news headline and RW had delivered that................ we would have never heard the end of it.'"
Let's not cherry pick the promises that RW has made because you know as well as I do that there's more broken ones than kept ones, such as "the financial packages for the stadium delivery are in place"
I stand by my statement, there is no comparison between RW & AG in terms of fulfilling promises, I accept it's very early to judge AG but he's delivered more than a lick of paint and a bottle of Fash Fabreeze.
As for the "possibly biggest announcement in the clubs history" well it wasn't, not yet anyway but the next 2 months may just change that.

| If we get a franchise on the back of this meeting then yes it was the biggest meeting in the history of the club. 6months ago we might not have had a club, should we secure our place then ag has performed a minor miracle

| And people don't forget the lottery is all about framing the future of out club, ag sees youth development as the key to our success all monies from the lottery go to signing developing and retaining the best young players in the game. As je said we no longer want to be seen as a selling club

Can you show me an artical where he actually stated it was in place? You lot shouted from the roof tops saying you haven't got the money, but no where I have seen RW state that the money was there, because I believe I am correct in saying that he stated the stadium could not be build in one phase, but would meet the requirements for a License!!!.
Same as NW, the only people saying you had the funds were your fans.

I've heard him say it in a TV interview but there are a number of articles that also quote him saying it!
The Castleford Tigers CEO Richard Wright did a webchat this week - details at the following link - www.pontefractandcastlefordex...ght.6022829.jp
I have extracted some of the more important bits.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
[Comment From Gareth MainGareth Main:
Hi Richard, first obvious question is: what funding IS in place for the stadium? If we started the build today, how much could we build?
Hi Gareth. All elements of the funding package are in place and in the longer term we believe we can deliver the 15,000-capacity stadium. However, the recession is slowing everything down and it is harder to unlock the elements of the funding package. We have considered phasing due to the time scales of the RFL and the minimum standard we believe at the moment for the next licence will be between 10,000 and 11,000. We are focused on delivering phase one by 2012 to meet the timeline . For clarification, phase one would include all corporate facilities, better facilities for the fans with regard to food and toilets, the new Tigers bar and it should give us an opportunity to get 10,000 in every week. The best way to phase a stadium will be considered by the architects and achieving atmosphere will be a priority. Once they have developed the plans we will put them on view for the fans to look at and I think they will be happy with the outcome.
To answer the second part of your question, we cannot start to build today. We do not have a detailed design or detailed planning consent. Our focus is on delivering for 2012.

They are direct quotes not the interpretation of the reporter.
The real question is,
Was Ricard Wright lying?
Either YES or NO!
What do you say?

No.
The funding package was in place. Unlocking the components was a different matter.

| "all elements of the funding package are in place"
I've never known any project where, if funding is in place, once planning permission is granted the funding suddenly needs 'unlocking'. It's David Brent at his best.
Come on Fully, RW was spinning and lying lots of people knew it and now even the most dedicated Cas fans must know it.

It's not simple to understand.
They have the funding package in place but they needed to sell the ground to gain the majority of the funding. Cas couldn't do jack without selling ground (something they expected to do 3 years ago incidentally). You Wakefield fans seem to fail to take into account the mitigating factors.
RW has not been lying; he's made statements that have bit him on the backside timewise because obstacles have come out that have needed to be resolved before things could move forward.
The latest timeframe he's stated is not from Cas but from Opus North and Palmer Capital - the redevelopment of the Coliseum is now being driven by Opus.

Sorry mate but if that's what he meant then he's very naive not the Wakefield fans.
It seems from what you are saying that RW had identified where some of the funding could potentially be raised but it was not in place.
I've worked on funding packages for projects as big as the 2002 Commonwealth Games and as small as toilet blocks for Unibond North football teams and I've never seen a situation like Castlefords.
What RW is saying or has said is completely at odds with what's been happening.

| You believe what you want to believe.
Whether you like it or not the funding had been identified and things were in place in 2007 when OPP was given. Then the economy hit, values went down, have not really recovered since. Mitigating factors have hit us a lot and as has been said, we have a major asset. You wouldn't sell it on the cheap just because you have to. You'd sell it when you want to sell it, for as much money as possible to make the club as strong as possible.
And no, all funding had been identified not "some" as you put it. The issue lies with selling The Jungle as it was then and the Chemical licence from Hicksons. Had that been done three years ago, we wouldn't be discussing this now.
Anyway, it's pointless going over old ground, I really don't want to discuss it again paricularly as it's been done to death. The Wakefield fans are going to vilify RW, the Cas fans are going to do the opposite. RW has merely been guilty of his own self-belief based on circumstances, which have changed, obstacles have been thrown up and that has delayed things. It happens in construction, it happens in planning. Nothing ever goes smoothly.

I agree it's been done to death so my last word on it for now,
Both of the quotes I posted are from late 2010 which was long after the recession hit and RW knew Wheldon Rd wasn't going to sell for nearly enough.
My beef isn't with you or Cas fans or Castleford RLFC but with the inequity of the sarcasm levelled at Trinity's new owner in comparison with RW who's track record on delivery is atrocious. His statements though largely well intentioned are naive at best and intentionally deceitful at worst, my nature is such that I hope the former is true.
Good luck to Castleford, I would genuinely love it if both stadiums get built and we see each other in a 15 team SL for the next 3 years. Then Roll on another 80 odd years of proper derby rivalry in which the City gets the upper hand over the Town .

I'll try and make it simple.
A funding package must consist of a specific amount of money to fund the project. How could you meet your (funding) payments otherwise?
You need to sell your ground.
You haven't done so yet. So how do you know you have enough money for funding?
