Chessie could learn from the programme I watched last night in which Brian Clough said at a time when his forest team wasn't playing well that the players feed off on how he management react, when he commented in front of the cameras he never let his reactions to press get the better for them to make his team worse.
Now is his time to build on that keep control keep the confidence building and it will continue to get better but it begs to ask why the start of the season was so dire.

Superb performance today rom 1 - 17.
Defensively magnificent, especially these 5 sets back to back in the first half, absolutely brilliant.
Fifita, best game of the season so far, Jowitt, quality at FB, Lino, getting better and better and Miller too.
Our pack were utterly dominant, which allowed the backs to play.
I thought that we'd lose (narrowly) today but, how wrong I was.
The first 40 was 10/10, with some quality tries in there too.

Well done Trinity, hopefully we can start looking up and with defence like that, no fear.

The reason why the first 6 games was so dire was, because Mr Chester was putting round pegs in square holes and concentrating on defence so much ,he forget that it's as important to play players in key positions that can bring some thing to the attack .Plus we could not get the spine of the team on the park at the same time through injury. I admit I have said it was time for a change ,but think the last two matches have give me more faith in the Coaching staff as a unit

It’s a forum vasty that why people have their own opinions ,no need to knock everyone that says something different to what you believe . Come on we could have cained you for the Ryan hall is fat comments ,but that is your opinion , which in my opinion is way off but there you go . I have been away so no access to the forum. I like all Wakefield supporters are ecstatic that we won because the bottom line is SL survival. I must admit I don’t know who coaches the defensive structure but they have improved the team considerably. I believe it was Peter Fox who said defence wins you games because it results in the opposition making mistakes.
I still believe that Chester is not the answer for next season, sorry Vastman but that is my opinion based on our performances in general. I believe we will make the mistake of giving him a further extension but that will be the club’s decision.
I believe our two victories towards the end of last season were Hull KR followed by Huddersfield but let’s hope that is just coincidence and we can carry on and win again next Sunday.

Did you watch the last two games because if you did, you'd realise that we were good value for the win in both games. In fact we were so dominant in the game against Huddersfield that I think we would have beaten most SL teams.
Give credit where credit is due and stop trying to water the victories down by making silly comparisons!

What a sorry sad bunch some of the posters on here are continually bashing Chester. Who signed Lino and kaye and Battye and quite a few more not time to name them all. Chester is the answer. But maybe we should sack him and resurrect Ken Dodd to be coach then all the comedians on here can wollow in their own little circle.

I think In general barring St Helens, SL is so unpredictable at the minute. One minute we looked like relegation scrappers, then as slick a side I’ve witnessed at belle vue against 2 strong teams. Chester clearly isn’t a poor coach, we have had very good success with him for the budget that we possess. I believe every coach had a sell by date no matter how well the team is playing, does Chester want this stress past this season, who knows. If we play more consistently like we have the last 2 weeks then who can complain? It’s a simple fact we need our strongest 17 playing 8+ week in week out to compete within this league, the more injuries we pick up the harder it gets with less quality coming in due to us being no where near the cap limit and cutting our cloth accordingly. If you want a consistent team who challenges for titles year after year go follow St’s or Wigan as this isn’t Wakefield. We clearly do the best for where we are at

Good post. It just stings seeing clubs our “level” making finals (Salford past two years and Cas in 14).

I would like to see progress being made if Chester were to stay on though, another season where all we aim for is just to outrun the bottom club (this time Leigh) wouldn’t be good enough for me.

I think coaches have limited time. Or in some cases, you build a new generation around them.
I view Chester as having 4 years with 2 really disrupted years. So personally, I don't judge him like some do on those years.
I like the style of play we play under Chester when it is going right.
Giants game wasn't the only time we've done that to good teams.

Someone else may be able to do more but I don't see one readily available, or someone who fits the Wakefield style as well as him.
In my opinion, the best coach, isn't necessarily the best coach for Wakefield.
