Well the 15k with benefits is far from what was has been mentioned before I still think it's still shy of being the complete package to encourage a player to knuckle down and work harder if there's other clubs willing to dangle a carrot.

On today's ideals most employers are looking for that bit extra and when players (Mellers for instance) just turn up and under perform it grates on the fans to see money just being wasted, why can't players be on a fixed pay with the old fashioned win/lose bonus, what was wrong with that system. Can anyone enlighten why we should pay to see under performance games surely in incentive to win would build that pay packet that they want

Hard to get a mortgage etc when all your money is in win bonus, and you get nothing in off season.
Reason it worked in the old days was that most were part time and had a different regular income.

I think the big point is being missed here. We offerred as much as we could afford!! And we weren't prepared to go any higher. The same happened with Jamie Langley. We lost out on him salary wise for 2k. But it was 2k too much.

And you will get no thanks from some of the Wally's on here for sticking to your guns, good decision for me. I would be happy to see Liam and Langley here but not on more than we can afford well done MC.

Everyone has a price. Its all about value for money. If you paid an extra couple of grand on all signings we'd be back in the brown stuff again.

Quite understand that and have no problems with this ideal of how to run a club in difficult times but my question is who makes a players salary, how does and agent have powers over a player that makes two grand the difference between signing or not.
How a players value determines his salary will be by the interest of market just like any other commodity this where we are in a conundrum, is it worth taking a risk by drawing up contracts that allows a larger bonus say when we reach a top eight place at the end of the season.
The big question is where the hell has all the support gone from the last season ticket holders

That's his value to us - and sometimes you need someone else to put a value on you - as a check if you like. If someone else values you more, then you have a choice - just as happened here.

A little sadness, but no drama.

Lets not forget if we had offered Langley his extra £2K his parasite would have gone back to the other club and informed them of this and tried to get them to up their offer.

The reason why many clubs are struggling is because too many average players are being paid far more than their true worth.
