Good call! Not that well known over here, but supported the Stones in '81 and played on Live Aid!

| fwiw i am going to have to join in.....
i am going to avoid the obvious "compilations" such as queens greatest hits and aerosmith big ones and go for proper albums...
the jeff healey band - hell to pay
guns and roses - appetite
rolling stones - let it bleed
iron maiden - number of the beast
gary moore - blues alive
eric clapton - journeyman
john lee hooker - the healer
thunder - back street symphony
it really depends upon the mood i am in.....

Great call - not my usual cup of tea, but I've loved Steve Earle for donkeys years.
Just had a text from a mate who's at Glasto - just seen BB King and about to watch Morrissey; barsteward.

He may have turned over Heaven 17, The Human League, Japan, and Gary Numan to look for it.

Hey, I gave you Talk Talk before (although I preferred them in their later earth-loving hippy phase).
Just discovered something I never knew existed - part 1 of the 2 part "Smash it up" by the Damned... Wonderful stuff.

Never mind Talk Talk - given your user name, sig and avatar, I'd have thought you would be firmly on my side; without the White Duke, there would have been no new romantic movement!

There was no need for one. Bowie ticked all the androgeny experiment boxes. What came after were just a cheap imitations.

Just watching them at Glastonbury - I seem to recall them being good at some point in the distant past, but they're just going through the motions now; extremely dull.

My dad's favourite was Paul Robeson singing Old Man River.
Used to play it on the piano and sing it to us when we were kids. That was as good as it got in the 1930's.

We took a packed space wagon down to Wembley once driven by my Grandad, about 100 miles down the M1 someone said "Quiet, listen...what the hell is that???" We all listened up and the most horrible sound was coming from the stereo. My Grandad said "Paul Robeson, can't beat it." We laughed our heads off to it for the next 80 miles.
We then beat Sheff Utd 2-1 and sang along with Robeson all the way back.
The next trip down to Wembley was to play Arsenal, my Grandad had been doing a bit of plumbing just before setting off. All the way down it was complaints about my Grandad's b.o.
Great days.

| I think I need to add Linkin Parks 'A Thousand Suns' to my list. Many have dissed this album as being below their normal standard - I believe it sets a new level for them above some excellent previous stuff.
On a completely different level - how about The Skids - Absolute Game - love it to bits!

Went to them all apart from the replay. Great days, we had a season ticket for years sat next to Chris Waddle's wing. I'll never forget how no defender could ever stop Waddle and no attacker could ever beat Des Walker. Only problem Wednesday had for me is they never replaced Worthington, we always had some average right footed player burdening us for years after.
When I was a nipper my stepdad took me to watch Leeds United from 1989-92 so I've seen a bit of glamour watching my teams. Just need Wakey to come good now, Yorkshire Cup final just isn't enough and I can't really remember much of that day.
