Can not help but get the feeling if Mr Parkin takes over, we have a guaranteed Super League spot for next year. If there is one thing the RFL likes more than shiny stadiums its money.
Also doubt Mr Parkin would want anything less then Super league, if you look at how he wants to take his football club as far as possible.

Judging by what happened to multi millionaire, Steve O'Connor at Widnes, I fear the new owners might have to wait three years or more for SL in reality. I hear what you are saying but the RFL might require the new management to prove themselves over a period of time as with Widnes, so realistically which club will the RFL kick out if not Wakey? I just can't see SL being increased to 15 or 16 clubs any time soon. Sharing the Sky funding 16 ways isn't likely to get the vote of the SL clubs and I wouldn't have thought the players and coaches would want to play another four extra rounds.

I have been reading the ups and downs (and hopefully ups) of all that has happened over the last 3-4 weeks with interest. Let's face it, the phrase that comes to mind is "....there but for the grace of God" and those relishing Wakey's problems should perhaps reflect on their own sitiuation before commenting.

Anyway, I do believe that what Mikey T has written is what will end up happening. I know some of you are expecting the new owner to ride in on a white horse and that the RFL will forgive and forget and push someone else out of Super League for Widnes to come up. I just can't see this happening unfortunately! My take is that the new owners will know that they are being "relegated" with a promise that if you get your house in order (and meet the qualification criteria whatever that is) you will be in a good place to get a license. It also means that the new owners don't have to provide as much up front investment as they would if the team remained in Super League. With the advent of Newmarket, having sorted out the financials of the club and (hopefully) started to increase crowds because the team is winning a lot more games, you should be able to put up a compelling case for a license in the future.

Is the time right to accept this scenario as a very viable option and start planning and putting resources into this rather than on the (I believe) small chance the RFL will keep you in SL? Obviously, there will be lots more twists and turns to this over the next few months and a lot of this is pure speculation so would never advise that you roll over and admit defeat. I just think you may need to consider the scenario as being a potential option for the new owners.

does it really make sense having 14 teams when if there were 16 the rfl could have their stupid weekend and it wouldn't be as unfair as it is now with the so called derbies..i am sure that us and cas and the other derbies playing 3 times is VERY FAIR! increase to 16 and let widnes and halifax in and let them fight each other for bottom place..after all widnes did have a great season last year!

The Millenium magic weekend is still possible with 15 teams.

How about the centre piece game being the World Club Challenge.

This means that the derbies stay, all the teams are playing and the added bonus that teams will each have a buy week thus giving them a little break at some stage of the season (just to shut Jamie Peacock up)!

I know it makes too much sense for the RFL to even consider it!!!!
