FFS Tommy Lee

Now if anyone can explain to me what Tommy Lee will bring to the side I would be interested to hear it. We are well covered at Hooker and there is no way he could be the scrum half we are crying out for.

I sincerely hope this is just a wind-up. If we sign these two on top of some of the other distinctively average players we are linked with, I will be looking for a refund on the 185 quid I have just forked out for next years season ticket.

I remember a young lad playing full back for St Helens having one of the worst displays in that position ever. He was Gary Connelly and he turned out OK.

That performance last year was one of a player desperately trying to prove his worth to his new coach - trying too hard IMO. I loved it at the time, but I still think he has the pace and the desire, given a fresh start and a new club.

Paul White was never decent he may have gone from being totally useless to just useless but that was about as good as he got.

Penny has pace we don't use pace so it would be a pointless signing. We need wingers like Semi who get through a lot of work not a luxury player who will stand out on the wing and never get the ball. Remember how we failed to use the pace of Frew and Sampson in the past there is nothing to suggest that we would suddenly start putting a pacy winger away week in week out.

Will score loads for you given the service as he's done it for us, Widnes and Quins.

Fastest player I have ever seen on a rugby field the way he left players for dead in his first few seasons was unreal most are on that video site if he gets his confidence back I think he will be a real gem for you.

I'm happy to give him a go. Biggest problem will be same as all other fast wingers we get. They need the ball early in their hand. We don't do that very well.

As many have already pointed out, Penny will rarely receive the ball in areas where he can utilise his primary (only?) asset.

Defensively, at least he'll have the pace to chase across and back. One on one, close in, he can't be any worse.
In attack I'm sure he'll create more with the same amount of ball that Blanch has got this year.

Look at Quins form when he played for them compared to before he came and after he left, ask Quins fans if they'd have him in their side, ask most Wire fans if they'd give him another chance, ask any Wire fan who they think is the most exciting player to have played for Wire in the last few years.

Agree completely, we simply don't use them. We had just about the 2 fastest wingers in the league and you could count on 1 hand the times we kicked early on the count or kicked from a scrum....

We wont use them (and we never have) and they will be too exposed defending on our flanks so we some big boys out there. Thats why Danny Kirkmond didn't look out of place.

I don't doubt that given the service he will put plenty of scoring chances away, as you say his previous speaks for itself. He is as quick as anything you could ever wish to see, and his early form for you boys was good enough to push him into the reckoning for GB in my opinion.

The 2 (3 at a push) problems I have with this is that if his previous coaches have failed to coach the rawness/weakeness out of his game, what chance Kear and Broadbent? Secondly, I would question his temprement and possibly attitude - looks on the face of things he is not the nicest of lads (see Latu incident) and I personally dont "like him" as a "bloke" if you see what I mean.

3rdly and mainly we have no chance of giving him the service he requires. He will be left high and dry several times and he wont have the tries 'for' to balance it out because histroy tells us he wont get ball in good position, our quick men never have.

He is OK going froward, but his defence is woefull, he is going to have to defend the like's of Atkins, Richards and Hall, he couldn't tackle a Donner Kebab, if he was any good Warrington would not be releasing him, T.Smith is nobody's fool a poor signing if the rumours are true....

26 tries in 39 super league games. The majority of them superb finishes in a woeful warrington side coached by cullen or lowes. He was on a big contract and that's probably the reason smith wants rid. He is more than likely taking a large pay cut to play first team rugby and further his career, hardly an attribute of a horrible person. I know he has history with wakefield such as the leo-latu incident and the skipping to the line whilst running in an interception, but forget all that and give the lad a chance. Trust me, the lad is a quality winger and the constant moaning about his defence is unjustified. Did you see Riley's attempted tackle for Hull's first try last week? Penny does that and the imbecile element of wire fans have a field day.

Maybe some good news - just been on the Crusaders sight and someone on there seems to thing they may have signed Worrincy for next year

He'll do well in the Championship.

I say give this lad a chance. He's a proven try scorer but does need to work on his defensive side of his game. If you look at from this season he's no worse than what we have already got I think some people who post on this site need a reality check when it comes to judging the players before they have even put on a shirt. Saying Tony Smith is letting him go because he's not good enough. If you look at the Warrington three quarters there probably isn't a place for him because their team/squad is far superior to ours. This is not to say he could be a very astute signing. There are a few players we have had over the past years that haven't played well or made it at other teams and excelled at WT. Peter Fox didn't really even get a superleague chance until we signed him.

New name for us Wakefield Charity Cases. We need some sort of Oxfam logo for badge though. I see Penny as a good signing but this signing just shows the clubs intent. Season ticket seller this guy is not.

That's all he should be doing selling season tickets at the club shop !!!
