| Brough knows exaxctly what he is doing abput negotiating his signing on fee or his new contract - money matters the most (by a hell of a long way) in Danny's life at the moment. This finance position holds the key to where he plays. Nothing else maters to him.

| A bit of loyalty towards our players would be appreciated - as we expect it from them.
It was on October 1st,last year, that John Kear was quoted in the press about the likelihood of Danny signing his extension,[url=http://www.wakefieldexpress.co.uk/wildcats/Wakefield-Wildcats-boss-closes-in.5696019.jphere[/url.
On 5th November the news broke about the potential for a winding-up order.
It may very well be that the current situation is beyond the control of Danny and as such any anti-Danny statements may not be conducive to confidence building in the squad.
My opinion is that Danny deserves this season with Wakefield and I would much rather Danny
was putting his hands on silverware than any other half-back named on this thread from outside the club.

| Reading between the lines it seems lad13 is suggesting the financial worries is the individuals rather then the clubs.
Still, as long as he remains committed throughout the season then I think the club would be daft to cash in. He was signed for nothing so what’s the big deal if the club lose him for nothing. I don’t see the desperate need to get 100K or so (very unlikely given he is in his last year of contract) other then the tax bill which appears to be under control.

| Let him go, cash in I say. Take the money now and run, if some money is available of course - we have survived before without him and we will survive again. I imagine he is the sort of player to make waves arround him if he is not happy, cannot afford to upset the balance and ethic of the side for him.

| Better the devil you know!!!
Cooke has more baggage than a baggage handler at Heathrow!! Rovers thought they were getting a player worthy of paying a huge sum to - why else would they be willing to let him out of his contract with them early if he was worth it???
Wouldn't touch him with a barge pole!!

Makes me sick just thinking about him wearing Red White and Blue, one of the few players, along with Ryan Bailey/Gareth Hock that i would not wish to see at my club.
I'm sure plenty on here would disagree but there you go.

Cooke? 4-5 years ago, maybe. Since then he seems to have gone backwards and doesn't come over as someone who takes pride in his performance, so I'd rather not. if Kear is interested, he must be very confident in his man management abilities.
Hock - yes, in a flash. Everyone deserves a second chance after a moment of indiscretion, for what in the grand scheme of things was a minor offence. If when he returns he can still play like he did before (he tore through our team on several occasions), he'll be fighting off offers from clubs with a sh|tty stick.
Bailey. Simple no. Has ability, and a one time looked like he could be excellent. Seems he'd rather trade off his ability in order to be an average player and an absolute knobber.

i'd take cooke. it'd be a risk but kear has pulled more unlikely ones from the brink. he'd have something to prove no doubt but at a possible cut price with rovers funding part of his wages for a year worth a punt imo
hock - agree, it's not like it was performance enhancing
bailey - does a job on probably not very much but nothing to get inspired about

I just don't like him but not for those reasons and yes he's a quality player but i would not wish to see him at Wakey, just my opinion.

| Good point well made Mr. Kear.
No swap, and we might take him when he is out of contract on less wages. Seems fair.

| I've no respect for Cooke the man from the stories i've heard and don't really rate him as a player ( only seems to be able to pass left for one )- don't think i'd renew my season ticket if he came to us to be honest . JK has my utmost respect , but i think we're better as a club to leave blokes like him well alone . Fingers crossed he ends up in Wales .............. looked hard ,but can't find the smilie i want for this one !(might get told off anyway)

I tend to agree with your points overall but 'don't think i'd renew my season ticket if he came to us' is a bit strong, are you looking for a reason not to get a season ticket?

| No not at all .. and i suppose when it comes to it ,as a family we will all be there cheering on whoever's wearing the shirt . But do i want to see Mr.Cooke as a "role model" for my son , god no .
Obviously we all know of players in the squad who have done things wrong(Latu etc) , but i don't think there's anything to be gained on or off the field by signing PC . Like i say...- hope he ends up in Wales

I'm just reading Sean Long's book the moment and it's much as i'd expect - but in my opinion PC's behaviour in the past goes way past some of the stories you hear when players are out on the lash .
On the field , he seems to play well but only once in a while (2 years ago in Cardiff!), but for someone who plays for the club he loves - he looks well overweight , been suspended and generally out of sorts . Think we should stay well clear IMO.

| One of my work colleagues played for rovers a "few" times and still has strong links with the club, he reckons rovers would be better off shut of him, but would be gutted for us of he came as he is not a grafter and would not fit in with our work ethic. Which to me says a lot about us and no much about him!

| What about Richard Moore
Bad boy, disruptive, bad attitude, drinker, fighter, poor trainer
Came to wakefield .... last chance saloon.... who'd have thought he'd have turned out like he has - i wouldn't have.
Simiair brush could be levelled at Newton.. but we just have to wait and see on him... although Terrys just a bit of a nut job (probably trains his nuts off)
One thing is for certain as for natural talent Paul Cooke is streets ahead as a footballer above most of his peers at 6 & 13 superb hands (particularily range of passing), kicking game and a good organiser... we be idiots not to look at him if he became available.
IMO
