Got beetroot, onions, peppers, red cabbage, tomatoes and sprouts on the go myself.

Used to be a big fan of The Bill but don't eally watch it anymore not keen on the way it's filmed now.

Can't agree - and I'm qualified to comment as my family (Macaulay) were the largest growers of the stuff in years gone by - most of the land now being Wakefield 41 Ind Est (as they couldn't give rhubarb away in the 70's!)

The forced rhubarb is the one which, courtessy of the Oldroyd's, is being pushed for regional status - as with Jersey Royals etc - as Yorkshire Forced Rhubarb.



Most of the production still happens locally anyway - so let's not denigate our own eh!

I feel guilty now for never purchasing any in the 70s despite being about 6, and therefore banishing trb's forebears to the dole queue.

i didnt even like rhubarb crumbled in school dinners, i believe i used the word yak on several occasions, in my cinematic eye now as i shake my childish head the camera pans back and the gates are closing on another local industry, with a bloke looking a bit like marvin the android patting his tearful sons head ruffling his hair and saying dont worry son well find something.... and its my bloody fault

Strange you say that I said the same a a few weeks ago.

You may do this already but if not it's worth doing.

Get a a water sprayer and spray the trusses and tomatoes when they start coming through it makes a difference. And also try keep the leaves moist.

tred very carefully round the whole rhubarb situation,if you grew any at home, or your family did, especially during the 70's, perhaps on the back of the popular sitcom the good life which many of us watched with absolutely no interest in the vegatables,dialogue, or tom good, who was a wuss and would never have pulled barbera in wakey.

As for rhubarb I can't stand it. Used to get sick of the site of it when it was the rhubarb festival. Rhubarb this, Rhubarb that. I have seen enough of it to last me a life time, same goes for sprouts at Xmas time

the intresting dilema between self survival and using the economic work ethic model.
the latter only being acceptable to buy barbara a rather well fitting black dress for a slap up meal and an overnight stay in a sy hotel, with tom the wuss, who probably took a book to bed. i was only about 13 and frankly the book would have been able to wait.

Last time I ever post that I'm quiet and bored at work too, straight after that I didn't stop til home time and was rushed off me feet.

My favourite places for lunchtime or breakfast time treats are Subway, Greggs, Sandwich & Co and a shop in Featherstone just round the corner from where I work and near the Tote bookies of which I'm a frequent visitor..

There I think I've covered everything, back to the wii fit. Need to with my diet..

just got back from what I can say as a breath taking show, the amount of effort put into detail and seeing all come together was truly mind blowing, if anybody gets the chance to see it they wont be disappointed
