I think superleague and the contract system for players will mean that there will be an increasing merry-go-round of players and very few players will get into long service.. and fewer will reach testamonial status.

3 years/ seasons at one club will be a long stay.

also as the numbers of good young players increases there will be a greater surplus of choice on youngsters...

He will be missed but I cannot get how a player under contract can agree a deal with another club how can a release come into play unless a fee is met to buy out the rest of his contract? Surely the club must of told him he can talk but still he signed for 2years so a fee is needed to compensate what he is paid even if he has rejected a new deal.

Players may aswell not have contracts as they just don't appear to be in existance no more

And his team for 2011 will be.....? Who knows, probs not Scratchy himself.

Been great for us this year, but wants to move on, IMO more journey-man style than anything else.

Will he settle at a club for more than a few years, and does it matter:-

a) to the club he has just joined?
b) to the fans of the club he has just joined?
c) to the fans of the club he has just left?

It certainly shouldn't matter to the club he has just left.

I reckon the club needs to be a bit more careful when negotiating contracts there seems to be at least 3/4 people on here who know the financial details of the offer to Snitch! Maybe that's why he doesn't want to stay!

It must have been a one year deal with an option for a second, Snitch’s form has quite rightly attracted a lot of attention and we know the club doesn’t have the spending power of its’ close neighbours.

I am surprised that as Leeds were supposedly after him he did not chose to go there rather the make the side wards step to Cas, but then maybe they didn’t offer enough. Money talks after all but as Korkidas found out, money isn’t everything.

That's not fair. When Snitch left Hudds hew was not a hot property, in fact we were the only option he had. He and we made him a wanted player, but at the time a short term contract was what the club offered and more importantly what the player wanted.

I'm sad he is leaving and tbh it sounds like he played us a bit as from what I here we thought he had agreed. Cas as ever have done what they seem obsessed with and that is undermining Wakefield no matter what the cost.

It's when these things happen it reminds me why I detest Cas or to be fair and more to the point detest Wright and his cronies.

ask yourself why is his agent touting him to cas and others obviously wakey had first dibs and couldnt offe rhim what he wanted - or maybe it's true he dislikes in at wakey (i know not of any reason just speculating)

you win some you lose some the times we have lost players due to our offer (stosic for one) to wakey and other clubs is no worse than you it's part of RL. get ove rit you got DB off of us!

…because that what agents do and that how they get paid. A player could be perfectly happy to sign a contract with the club he's at for the amount they are offering but the agent will always tout him to other clubs to boot his own percentage of the deal.

I don't really see how I have been unfair to anyone. Do you not agree that if so many people are privy to the financial arrangements of the deal that is worrying? I have no idea if he played us or not or any details as I said before massive shame to lose him but if players don't want to play for us fair enough we've lost better and survived.

Before I wish him good luck on his 3yr contract at cas, I have some questions:
1) how an under contract player can be offered any contract from any other contract without the clubs permission, and if this permission has been granted why it has not been publicly announced?
2) why as JK keeps stating we are progresive club who can attract such a high calibre of player in to the club, we are unable to retain someone of snitch's quality?
And 3) if the mony spent on a 33 yr old crock could have been spent on improved terms to retain snitch?

Im not going to critisize JK or the club because I am not privy to what has gone on. I do know that the way Snitchy has been playing they should have tried VERY hard to keep him, but maybe they did

Steve was a great signing and i am sorry he has gone. i have always been a big supporter of him and feel he has huge potential and could go to the international level. It will help his cause to go to a club that have a long term investment in the manager (like wakey and maybe dirty cas) where he will get first team football and not continue on the SL merrygoround - should have stayed here in the long term interest in his career.

I overheard a conversation in Ossett market this morning.Apparently the club has improved their contract ofer to Snitchy so the ball is back in his court now,maybe the Saga continues ?

The information about players wages does not get into the public domain from club officials. Its the players who tell their mates how much they have signed for.

And their 'mates' should use some discretion with that information!

The players should not give their mates the info in the first place.

Well, that's true also. It's not just me who doesn't go around discussing the finer points of my current salary then!

this one way of over inflating wages when there is a lack of quality players, you pass on the info hoping that the next employer is will to go that bit further

Everyone is aware there is the SL 'touting' rule. However Agents,players and clubs do talk long before the transfer dealines.
Contracts are agreed,signed and then tucked away in drawers till after the deadline.

The problem is that if this happens the club can offer everything they can but the player can't be signed on.

All the club can then do is move on and use the money to sign a player as good, if not better ,who wants to play for us.
