| I’ve watched Trinity since 1959 saw the glory days and have always held the dream that I would get the same excitement and pride again before my inevitable demise
However it’s pretty obvious that 2022 is now that all hope of seeing glory have been quashed years of mis management now replaced ny frugal management has caught up with us
MC has done a great job managing the finances But he hasn’t realised the basic fact that the product the team delivers on the field is what attracts paying customers
I feel Trinity management to survive in some form
Which I very much doubt as the debts due to the ground mortgage and stadium upgrade costs owing will not be able to be serviced by a championship club.

| For me Poching can stay on for the towelling Saints will give us next week. No coach is getting that lot of wasters to give Saints a game. We can try and keep the new coach bounce for the week after.

| He shouldn't have started the season as head coach, shouldn't really have been promoted in the first place.
But the blame lies squarely on the board for the state of the club. What was the point of saving it a decade ago to just underfund it and drive it into the ground anyway

The clowns will get binned alright, but I am affraid any young talent will be taken from us. We will not be in position to keep anyone.
Also wouldnt it be ironic if the club that took our place in SL was Fev.

I’m sure Murphy would love to come to his hometown club. Play alongside his Newsome teammates.

| The thread is about ‘Poching out’
Well no, not if it means Cummins steps up into his place.
It’s brutal to say but the writing was on the wall against Featherstone pre season.
I watched it and had a bad feeling of what was coming.
The wins against Warrington were not because we were good - they were rank bad!
Many of the players are NOT SL standard, nor are the coaches.
BUT get off the back of MC and JM because we wouldn’t have been in the fight at all without them.
Miller, Lino and 3/4 more can go for me. Give me a Paul Sykes and Flynn any day of the week!

| I know it's too late but something has got to change. Poching can't even select the team properly imo. Plus we don't have a defensive coach as such it's just part of normal training. As for Cummings what has he achieved as a coach ? .He was at Bradford and Widnes and look what happened. He's now going for the hat trick at Wakey. Got to go. As for Mr. Carter he just baffles me with some of his decisions.

No.
MC/JM hold the purse strings.
They appointed a cheap option of Poching with no head coach experience, rather than have the foresight to invest in some experience.
MC was too pally with Chester and big lumps of cap were taken up by wastes of money in eg: Gaskell/Lineham.
This left Poching (cheap option) looking for bargain basement players: Sid/Evans/Minns/Davetanivalu - hoping they may plug the gaps and add some squad depth.Even now they are trying to fix it with bringing Hulls 7th choice prop in/ an NRL player trying to resurrect his career/Butler.
Whether we would be in the fight or not without MC is totally irrelevant and it certainly doesn't buy them a free pass forever, because in essence all he has done in is give us a stay of execution.
MC has treated supporters with contempt, yes he loves the photo op clearing snow..............but his "love in " with Chester has ultimately led to the position we are in.

| PT will be waking up in the morning' rubbing his/her eyes and realising, "It was all a wonderful dream". The roses around the door will all have wilted; the little stream running through the garden will have dried up. the little country cottage will really be a terrace house on St Catherine street, that pretty garden will have a colliery spoil heap at the bottom and next season's opening fixture fixture will be Batley away. Oh, and Willie Poching will still be coach.

Great that you are all having such a great day proving who can think of the most depressing thing and just making things up to prove everything is even more rubbish than it already is.
I am depressed because the club I support is struggling. So leave me out of your little back slapping fest.

It isn't.
How many times did we go down in the 80's?
We came back
Will we lose players? Yes
Do we need to lose players? Yes
Have all our players been poor? No
Answer = be smart and fight tooth and nail to keep those that have done us proud. Tip, these are home grown.
If I recall, we wemtcto Catalans in round 2 or 3,with a very young squad, and went towards to toe with them, for 80 minutes.
Try and keep them, added with a bit of experience, but the right ones.
The likes of Jowitt, Crowther, Batch are the first names on the team sheet, let the likes of Miller, Kelepi, Lino and big D go. They're no better, but are probably on near double that of those with heart.

Sorry to have a go at you PT, but you really have made a rod for your own back with your perennial optimism. It doesn't make anyone who's a realist any less of a fan of Trinity for being so.
I can understand your depression. I'm depressed too, but as words of comfort, hopefully, I can tell you that having been a supporter of WT for 66 years and also a season ticket holder of Barnsley FC for many years in that time I've seen both clubs relegated many times, and whilst the initial feelings of realisation that you are going down isn't very nice, it's amazing how quickly you begin to adapt to the new life supporting a club in a lower division. For a start you can attend a game with optimism (you'll like that), in the knowledge that you might even win a game and not be resigned to yet another defeat. I've noticed that the style of football is more free and easy, and watching a game in a lower division is even more enjoyable than the intensity of Superleague or Premier League. Also, the experience of winning promotion is a great feeling.
Perhaps if you do continue to watch Trinity in the coming season ( which I'm sure you will), it's not all doom and gloom, but there again there's no room for those permanent. rose-coloured glasses.

Well if Poching wasn't cheap it makes MC/JM look incompetent - why on earth would you pay "Head Coach" money for a UK based assistant coach?
I haven't criticised Evans, its an observation of the type of players the budget allowed Poching to look at.Weve basically been shopping on Ebay hoping we pick up an absolute bargain. This is the budget that MC left Poching with after backing Chester for too long.
Carter knew what the playing budget was for this season (my word he told us often enough how reduced it was),so in my opinion it was a disaster waiting to happen putting an inexperienced /untested head coach in charge of a squad lacking in depth and quality.
Why is it relevant if i would continue to support them ?
For the record - yes i will, the club will be here long after MC /JM have departed.

| Poching was either the cheap option or he wasn’t.
If he was, it’s poor judgement that sealed relegation, when you think of the money wasted on poor players that could have gone to a quality coach.
If he wasn’t, it’s even worse judgement, as he was always going to take us down. If that happens at a higher price, then that’s inexplicable.
Our fate was sealed the moment he was offered the contract. I feared it then and said so, butwanted dearly to be proved wrong.

| I don’t want it to seem like i don’t like Poching. I’ve fond memories of him in his playing days for us.
Something is clearly not working at the moment. Poching may be up for the fight but I hope the players are too. We need to find a way to fight through this.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with perennial optimism… it’s the thing that facilitates my getting up every morning… opening my emails each day… reading the news… watching (or as t has been for most of this season… listening to games in the middle of the night) my team play sport… looking at my grandkids growing up… watching my wife recover from neurosurgery… perennial optimism has kept me going in the hardest of times!
Much of the rest of your post makes sense… but to isolate and bully someone because they are optimistic… sorry mate that’s not on!
