In reply to another poster a few posts up who claims clubs like Wakey only have seasons like this once in a lifetime I'm gonna disagree with you there! Looking from the outside in, I think the group of lads you've got now have a really close bond together and its clear to see how hard they work for each much. Much like how our Hull team has become. If your club can keep this group together and recruit players of a similar attitude when the older players start to retire ( Finn, Fafita, whoever else) then I don't see why you guys can't have seasons like this on a more regular basis. You play some good attractive rugby at times. The job now is just to do that on a more consistent season-by-season basis.
Fingers crossed that other results go your favour this weekend so that you are still in with a shot of making the top 4 next week. But regardless of what happens it's been a great season for you and one I hope all you fans have enjoyed!

Or you could be positive and say that we're making progress every season and gradually building for the future. You could say, who knows what happens next year but I'm looking forward to another season of watching amazing players playing fantastic rugby league. You could say, gutted BUT PROUD.

I'll take that for steady progress, coming to the end of the second year of the complete rebuild following the MPG and we've pushed the top 4 all season and competed in almost every game. Little errors have cost us big games all season but that's to be expected from a team on in the rise, they're not going to get everything right and need time to learn. The hopes for a top 4 finish may be over by the end of this weekend, but there's still a fight to be had to finish in 5th or 6th and round off a successful season.

- Fifita was half pushed/half dragged - could have gone either way - disappointing that we couldn't get additional players in there to help stop his momentum.
- The Arona penalty was blatantly the incorrect call - He was committed to the tackle and hit the man as he kicked the ball.
- The BJB incident - players were offside but were more than 10m away from BJB when he first touched the ball so no issue with that. I haven't watched again to see if he knocked on or not.

The other one for me that was dubious was the tackle on Thompson? where the ball came out and MCB picked it up and would have been away but for the referee deciding that the tackle was complete as his elbow touched the floor. Very harsh call IMO. Compare with the incident later in the game where Sneyd (I think) was tackled about 20 yards out then got loose and ref waved play on. For me they were either both "tackle complete" or neither were - you can't give one and not the other.

Call it bad luck or whatever but last week we hit the upright and the ball bounced out - we lose by 2 points, this week Sneyd hits the upright and it goes over - they win by one point. We just needed one of those two moments to go our way.

It is not over just yet though - Get Grixy on the phone to his ex-Hudds team mates calling in any favours he can, likewise Finny with Cas. If they both go our way then we will have one more chance next week. If not then, hold your heads up high boys, you've done a remarkable job this season and I can't wait to see what we can do next year.

Some bad luck, some dodgy calls (I counted 7 Hull forward passes when I watched it at home this morning) and an inability to take our chances -we missed three try scoring opportunities - and we still nearly got a draw! Keep trying boys.

Great game, thought overall Trinity were the better team but we just had enough to get over the line. Fantastic season for you guys, really hope you get chance to play for a playoff place next week.

Last week, I was totally gutted that we had found a way to lose a game that we could and should have won.
Last night, we gave FC (probably the most powerful side in SL) one hell of a dig and to go behind and yet find a way to score and be withing inches of getting a draw, wes a stunning effort.
Yes, we pulled up short but, what a great effort from 1 - 17.

It was an enjoyable game and to go toe to toe with a full strength FC, on their own patch, with the ref "helping" them, was superb.

IF RL was like that every week, we truly would have "the best game in the world" and I'm more than happy to follow a team anywhere to watch that level of passion and commitment.

Just on a side note, just how high did Foruna leap to collect the cross field kick to score.
Even though it was a try against us, the pure athleticism was a joy to witness.
For a guy of that size to get 5ft+ off the ground was a great effort.

Also, Grix played a faultless 80 mins and showed his doubters that he is indeed a quality player, top effort.

Barring a freak set of results in other games, our chance for glory has gone but, a win against Wigan will be the right way to finish, what has been, a great season.

Top season from Wakefield. Punched well above your weight all season. Cant see you repeating it next season but well done for this year.

We are in a good spot and don't think I would change it with any club for the coming season.

The jump was impressive but his landing even more so. He came down on one leg with ballerina-like balance.

No reason why we shouldn't be even better next season. We should have a fully fit Tom Johnstone back and as far as I know more or less the same team. Haven't been able to say that in donkeys years!

10 games this season have had a scoreline within 4 points, wakey have only won 2 of them. The experience to close out games can only come from playing in close games, they're improving week on week, but this season is probably a stretch too far. The worry will not be if Wakefield can achieve close wins, the worry will be for other teams around them when they do. Wakey have still scored the 2nd highest amount this year, and with the first choice winger (MoS young player 2016) missing for most of the season the form will improve on his return. It's a steady build from the MPG 2 years ago

What a ridiculous statement, do you have a crystal ball? Why can't we repeat it next season? As earlier posters have said we'll have TJ back next year and more signings, I think we'll be better not worse off

At first glance it looked like a knock on every day of the week, but on the replays you can see that it only comes off his foot, so when Hull knocked it on 5 seconds later, it should have been our scrum and not their try !!!!

Unfortunately having gone home and played the match back, Kirmo complains about being within the 10 which the offside players weren't. Why won't it be repeated next season, the potential is pretty obvious, yawl didn't have wakey down to finish outside the bottom 4, turns out at seasons end they're only a gnats cock hair off pulling everybody's pants down, yet still they'll never amount to a hill of beans.
I could understand it if it was a couple of shock victory's in an average wakey season fans getting giddy and all, but it clearly isn't that, to say its a one off season smacks more of wishful thinking than expectation.
After all, the fewer competitive sides there are at the top, the easier it will be for those that are arrogant enough to think they should be.

Well said. I have had a few negative moments and made a few negative comments in my time on here, but in those days we were in fact a pretty poor side! There was a lot to moan about sometimes. This season I am staggered at the comments of 'the usual suspects' on here. We know who they are. Nothing is ever good enough. I am all for freedom of speech but some NEVER give any credit and ONLY EVER snipe and moan. I thin King James is a bit of a Troll TBH. He is just out to get a reaction and then have a sad chuckle in his lonely bedroom
