Looked back a bit regarding the predictions some of us made at the start of the year.
viewtopic.php?f=33&t=542554&tsmp=1376653529
Safe to say Trinity are where I expected them to be this season, I was looking for an improvement in defence which although recently the against column has been less than the 28 average it was earlier in the season, it’s still a very poor trait of the teams play, out wide in particular. There are other aspects which I am disappointed by which I’ve commented elsewhere.
The renewal of key players contracts is a positive to take away from a largely frustrating season.

| Not too disappointed in performance, defence, apart from out wide, improved over the season but simply put, cos I am quite simple RL wise, Agar has gone as far as he can, a new coach please to kick on for next season.

| In 2 seasons since JK we have not progressed playing wise.
Bizarrely our current coach being linked with Les Cats jobs just like JK 2 years ago.
Honestly I hope this time Cats get their man.
In 2 seasons since AG took over we also don't seem to have progressed.
This season? Very average

| Frustrating beyond belief. A missed opportunity. A year of underachievement and we have moved backwards in my view. Worrying that the same errors in our play that have dogged 85% of our matches since Agar took over, show no sign of being improved, in spite of, for a club of our fianaces, significant player investment. Flashes of brilliance do nothing to console me when I see a side that never learns and can chuck a game away with worrying ease and tedious predictability. I await the barage of doom and gloom merchant criticism but I'm afraid I've come away fom too many games disaapointed by a game thrown away. I don't expect us to win SL or be top6. I just expect to see signs of pogress and I see none. Ideally we need a shake up but we are tied to a bad coach and a few error prone players so I am not filled with any major confidence fo next year. I just hope we make the right player moves in and out this close season and in 12 months make the right coach in and the wrong one out.

| A little disappointed overall. Poor cup run and On paper thought we were strong enough to just make the 8 but Sykes has been hampered with injuries and so we have lacked an attacking edge at one of our crucial pivot positions. Most creative play has been put through T.Smith. Think we've played well only in patches but out wide is a real worry defensively... Winning the last 3 matches would help with a little more positivity about the team's progression since last season.
It's essential that we have a good Plan A and Plan B at stand off whether that is Sykes with Kay being established more to provide good cover I'm not sure. It may have to be this with finances tight if Kay is ready for the step up?
Think this season it's been Sykes then Wood if Sykes injured but Wood was then sold mid season leaving no established back up? Lee Smith is not a 6 although played well there in patches.
Crowd attendances have been good and we have a solid competitive big pack. Out wide we have some options at centre but probably need another winger with real pace who is very solid defensively. I suppose only way we'll get additions is if we can offload 2/3 players such as Mellars, Fox, Molloy and Trout. Agar hinted at this in a press release concerning Cowling moving to Halifax.

| On field, we have scored some excellent tries and at times played entertaining rugby. At the same time we have also been weak in defence at times , just need to compare us v Wire last week with Widnes v Wire last night. Widnes were wrapping Wire up better than we did and there did not appear to be half as many offloads. We have had alot of close games and thankfully no thrashings. The lack of a class stand off or better thinking at crucial points has cost us a few games /league points/ play off spot. I have been disappointed we saw the need to bring Singleton / Molloy into the squad and at the same time not seen more of Annakin / Cowling / Kay. I was not a fan of Kyle Wood and would have had Matty Wildie on the bench more to give Aiton a break and also bring a further dimension to our kicking game. Kirmond has been immense as has Amor . Collis is class and a shame he has carried knocks on and off throughout. Fox & Lynne average. Am disappointed we have not made the 8 as we could have . Cannot question the commitment just the application ( props kicking on 4th tackle with a minute to go !!)
Disappointed we voted for the Dual reg / U 19 set up as players coming back from injury have no chance to have half a game in reserve rugby to see if fit & ready.
Off field. Excellent crowds so increased revenue for the club with season tickets, gate monies & shop sales. Great to see a packed ground.
Absolute shame re the segregation , a sad day for the club & rugby league the family game and lack of thought for our own loyal fans going against the Together we are stronger for me. Fits with other things that have left a sour taste in my mouth.
Catering ...shambles , no cheese for cheeseburgers, one week they forgot to get cheese out of freezer , next they had no cheese, next ran out of chips at half time. Long queues.

| Only difference from last year, is that we have not been able to go 7 on the bump to take us into the 8. Season over, with a massive amount of pride to play for in the last 3 fixtures.That's the only consolation.

That's about the length and breadth of it. We've been the nearly team, so close in so many games against the better sides but just haven't finished those games off well enough.

Good summary.
Except don't agree about the segregation been a sad day for the club, hasn't bothered me one way or the other. In fact the atmosphere imo has improved since it came in.

| The biggest problem we have had is not having anyone to cover at 6 with Sykes having injurys.Sykes while not the quickest player reads the game well and compliments Tim Smith.Agree with Wildie given more game time and giving Aiton a breather as when he had the chance at 9 he didnt let anyone down.We let some soft trys in out wide thats for sure but Im glad we have Collis for the longer term as without him on the right we let even more in.Kirmond well what is need to be said other than been the stand out player by a country mile.At times if I had been the coach I would have wanted to know why when the opposition make a break did Kirmo never give up the chase to catch the player yet our supposed faster players did.Very frustrating when you consider if we had won the games we had the chance of we would have been around 5th now.

| I'm disappointed with how the season has progressed. Not because of where we'll likely finish or the points tally but because of the following;
1. The reluctance and lack of faith shown in our younger players
2. Use of interchanges
3. The inability to respond and improve weak area's of our game e.g. Ball handling, wide defence, game management
That said, there are plenty of positives too;
1. Kirmond's leadership
2. Crowd average and high numbers of ST Holders
3. The ability of the pack to compete with any team
4. Resigning of key players
When we advertised for a new coach one of the main area's to address was the development and progression of our academy players. I have seen little from Agar to suggest he is capable of bringing through these lads into the first team. Signings such as Lyne (whilst not a bad player), Singleton and Molloy were not needed. Wildie, Kaye, Cowling, Trout, Annakin should have been given their opportunity especially when playing well in previous games.
I think there is an awful lot more potential in these players, hopefully we'll see it next year but i'm slightly underwhelmed

I agree Kaye could have been given a run earlier than now. Singleton and Molloy turned out poor, Annakin played out of position then almost forgotten about. Cowling now on way to Halifax but little seen of him. Trout not super league standard and Wildie very promising when seen but not enough.
