No, it's because it's impossible to passive smoke on an open terrace in any amount that could cause harm. Smoking is not illegal in open spaces, ie any area without a roof or walls on more than one side. It is up to the property owner where it is private property whether to institute a full ban - there was no full ban in place last year.

No I don't smoke these days, never smoked on the terraces but am intelligent enough to see the difference between a real risk and people who wish to push there beliefs down everyones throats for the sake of it.

Sorry, but the announcement was for the East Stand only. The old regime never imposed a stadium wide ban, I know that for a fact.

Not always about risk, there is the antisocial side of it, with the smell and the lingering smell on clothes, but I'm intelligent enough to see that it's not just about risk

also there's a choice issue, if you choose to smoke then fair enough go to the designated smoking area





Bit extreme really and totally unnecessary with regards to BV as I've already hinted that the club have this issue covered, just some fans choose to ignore it and then others try to make a human rights issue over it

No issue for me, people can smoke or drink themselves to death - that is their choice and so long as they pay their stamp then they deserve the right to treatment (self inflicted or not).

I consider the smell on my cloth as a minor irritant and can live with it. I find drunken yobs throwing bottles full of pee at me a major annoyance. That was my real point, some things you can live with in this not perfect world and for me a bit of fag smoke is one - others like the issue I've just raised are IMHO real issues.

I think these days we get over sensitive on minor issues yet totally ignore much bigger ones - I can only assume it's because it suits.

I'd agree that drunken behaviour at matches is as anti social (or even more anti social) than smoking, however both are anti social and smoking can cause heal issues to 3rd parties with little other choice, I would also say that smoking is not "minor" in comparison, if it was so "minor" there would not have been a blanket ban on smoking in enclosed public spaces for the whole of the UK from 1st July 2007 and in most European countries since around 2004 with 28 states in the USA banning smoking at the workplace and public buildings and out of 60 most populated cities in the USA 43 impose a ban on smoking in all bars and restaurants.
So hardly minor, an act of parliament had to change the law, I'd say it's pretty major and the fact that smoking costs the UK's NHS over £5bn a year kinda shows that it isn't minor nor are the health risks even if low.
But the thread was about smoking at BV so not too much relevance to drinking and bottles of urine, but whilst on the moaning platform, what really gets my goat are people driving with fog lights on when it's not foggy

Smoking in a crowd is anti-social and ignorant; wouldn't it be nice to live in a society where people don't do things like that because they know they shouldn't, rather than because they're prohibited by law.

I know that a smoking area behind the boxes was used and still is so i don't see how it can be a blanket stadium ban.

FWIW i do sometimes smoke at the side of the beer wagon, at the back out of the way and so do one or two others, i don't smoke amongst others.

When you attend this meeting please raise my concerns over the clubs policy of promoting "healthy mind and body" whilst offering a match day choice of Chips, Burgers, Pies and Sausage rolls or a Chocolate bar.

I understand know one forces you to eat it but there is no other choice once at the game.

Oh and the cost of Obesity/diabetes is far more than £5bn

Could you also raise the issue of having to send your kids through one turnstile on their own, into a crowd of people, whilst you go through a different one? It's totally unnecessary and pain in the jacksie.

That is the turnstyle fiasco I eluded to, it was a disgrace, I had to give my mate a call to meet my son on the other side as I was about 100 people back in the queue, same as last years friendly against cas and a nuber of games the previous season

How about mentioning the mens toilet/gutter at the turnstiles at the back of the North stand. It had a roof put on years ago (which i took to be the first sign of a complete renovation approaching Old Trafford, but alas we went bust instead) the light in there has never seemed to work though so if it's raining my head stays dry but my feet get wet
