| No johnstone or lynne to face kiwis.fair on lynne never expected him to be but how does a centre who wasnt in the original squad get selected ahead of him
With regards johnstone find it a joke by far best winger we have ans to gwt droppwd after a man of match and hattick .to add to this myler gets in who was in middle 8s.its about how big the club
Think a big part of me will be cheering kiwis on this weekend

| We only really had a fair share of internationals when we in the 60s were a ‘ big club’.
Even Topliss was frequently overlooked by the selectors in favour of stand offs
he regularly outplayed.

| Always cheer for England. No matter what.
Gildart was always in the squad they just didn't pick the grand final players.
Johnstone lost out to Makinson who has had a pretty good season himself.
Tom will get his chance.

Exactly this plus, Johnstone's debut keeps plenty of pressure on Makinson and should he have a poor game or pick up a knock, Johnstone will be in. Same goes for Lyne.

Oliver Gildart (Wigan Warriors)
James Graham (St George Illawarra)
Chris Hill (Warrington Wolves)
Josh Hodgson (Canberra Raiders)
Jonny Lomax (St Helens)
Tommy Makinson (St Helens)

Sean O’Loughlin (Wigan Warriors)
Mark Percival (St Helens)
Luke Thompson (St Helens)

We will be on top in the forwards, just but, the kiwis still have some real class in the backs and this could be really close.

| Makinson over Johnstone is pretty scandalous, let's be honest put Johnstone in the Saints team and Makinson in ours and what happens?

| TJ's chance will come and any poor performances from Makinson or Jerry Mc and he'll be in. Confident he'll play this series.
Let us not start going down that road of not supporting England or GB because our players don't make the 17. Muggy behaviour.

| Very predictable because Wayne Bennett almost said TJ wouldn't play and not just in this match but this year!
Both TJ and TM can score spectacular, acrobatic tries, but for long range ones TJ is far better IMO.

| I could se this if Makinson was selected on the right wing. As far as I am aware he is a right winger not left.

That was my thoughts also
It's toms natural position
V dissapointed for him
I would have thought that if hall were fit bennet would have chosen hall over TJ too which in my kind put tom as the 3rd choice left winger
I hope his time comes

| I’m a wakefield fan first and foremost but also a fan of RL and can’t wait to see England take on the kiwis.
This is where we make a laughing stock of ourself in the eyes of the union brigade, who can pack a stadium out even if their playing their shadow.
Put the pettyness aside and support our great national team no matter who turn out for us .
Tom will have his day wearing an England or GB shirt that’s plain for all to see , and I’m sure The experience will have done him the world of good.

| we've all seen players squaring up to each other in the run up to the super league final and some very heated into brawls but when it gets to playing for England they all stand side by side and are passionate for the team, time to stop being jealous of other teams with their players being selected before ours, things are changing were getting players noticed.
wish you'd stop feeling sorry for your selves and get on board, I too wanted Tom into the team and yes he should of been selected before a player that is out of his natural position give it time

| Disappointing - but not unexpected; it's clear that TJ has done what he needed to do in terms of impressing the coach, but it's hard to argue with Makinson - he's a cracking player, and perhaps has more of the attributes that Bennett thinks will be required to beat NZ. He certainly returns the ball with more threat, and is probably a better defender right now.
No doubt that TJ will be a future international - he's made sure of that with his debut.

Nail on head and what has Makinson done to deserve being dropped, just imaging the furore on here if it was the other way round.
As for going to see England, or not, any test against the Kiwis is a great game and with their "lost" players coming back, this will be a tight series and well worth £25, whether Trinity players feature or not.
I was lucky enough to be at Leigh for Johnstones debut and he couldn't have done any more to stake his claim for a place against the Kiwis but, his time will definitely come.
He's a class athelete and excellent RL player and it will be a privilege to see him rip the worlds best to pieces.
Be patient folks and enjoy it when it happens.

I agree with this, although a little disappointed for Tom, he'll get his time. He's younger than the others and is already in contention. Hopefully, we get 2-0 up and he can play in the last game.
You could say Makinson was next in line but wasn't he a sub when he last played and Hall and Mcgillvery were the wings?

I think you're right, although that still makes him "next in line".
Like you, I'm disappointed that Johnstone isnt in, especially as we already had tickets for the first test but, the lad is withing a cats whisker of getting the spot and if we're honest, he still has some improvement in him (in defence). Going forward, he is one of the most exciting players that we've seen in the last 15/20 years.Pace, balance, strength and pure athleticism. Let's hope that he gets the nod for at least one of the tests.

| i am gutted for Tom, and realise he could not have done any more to stake his place.
There is no doubt that if hall was fit, he would have been in, regardless of form.
i know we are all passionate wakey fans, but if you read other forums / facebook groups you will realise it is not just us that are baffled by this decision. plenty of opposing fans have high praise and respect for tom and think he should play.
i still want england to win, but i would enjoy the win more if tom was there

Who will you be supporting in the third test?
