Got to say that sounds like agent talk and a jorno putting 2 + 2 together. It's not impossible and it sounds convenient, almost too convenient and thus too good to be true.
Still if it happened it would be the biggest signing in SL history - a current SOO player and Premiership winner who should be a Clive Churchill medal winner and in the current Kangaroos squad - doesn't get bigger than that!

| Would really sort the squad out should both be here next year. I doubt it will be so but it's nice to see positive rumours not instantly rubbished by Michael Carter.

| It would be an amazing signing, one which I don't think any other SL club could pull off. He is genuinely on of the best players in the world right now, and if his brother and close friends can convince him to come, and the Sharks are willing to do a deal, then I'd love to see it happen.
Who'd have thought that last season we were battling it out for our survival, and this year we are linked with one of the world's best players!!!

| I also think that bringing Andrew over would get the absolute best from David, they'd be able to develop each other, and bring our other players up in line with them

Thsts the key, he really is probably the best prop forward in the world right now and no SL club has ever managed that, close but never the absolute best.
Big enough story to make the national media and one of the few that would actually add season tickets!
I can't pretend that I think it will happen because Idon't but I'm happty to dream or be proved wrong

Just to be linked with something like this is a serious boon for a club like Wakefield, and shows a level of intent for progress at the club which I don't think has been seen in a least a generation

Whilst it still possible, I'll just keep hoping

Hope it comes off but can't see it. The club will do well just to retain David Fifita on a 1 year deal.

I'd be happy with that tbh, it would give us an outside chance of top 8.
With both of them and Sam Williams I'd expect it to be honest, in fact I'd expect higher. If we could have kept Moore straight and on the pitch for the first time ever I'd have said genuine contenders.

On top of what we have, a quality hooker (to replace Moore), and these 2 - I think we could push top 4, certainly be in the mix with Cas. Not very likely, but we can hope!

I can think of a number of reasons why a player of Andrew Fafita's calibre wouldn't join us but there are two stumbling blocks that bother me most.
1: If MC sticks to his ethos and only pays what the club can afford then we can't afford A.Fafita although we are one of the few teams with that amount of space under the cap. The only way I can see it working is if MC with I suspect JK's help has put together a group of backers for this particular project as we did all those years ago with Wally Lewis.
2: The elephent in the room known as A.Tupou. We would need to free up a quota spce and because he's crocked and he's expensive he looks the most obvious, though you could also shed Arona or Bill Tupou at a push. I can't imagine we want to pay him off and I'm guessing he isn't walking. Now I don't know how this works but if a player sustains a cereer ending injury whilst playing for the club then doesn't the clubs player insurance pay out, seems the best way out for all if that were the case and could be proved.
At the moment it seems like a mountain to climb.

Some bad news for you Vasty, the guy is still sat in his big house with his expensive car and huge wage. He is hanging around Wakey like a bad smell. I was hoping he would have enough of a moral conscious and do the honourable thing and retire, but right now it could be he has decided to take an 'Ian Kirke attitude'I really hope we can persuade him to go.

Massive difference between A Tupou and Ian Shirke. All it took for Shirke to sit out was a broken pinkie.

Don't forget the marquee player rule which would mean any club not already utilising it could sign him if he became available

You continue to bad mouth Toops and you and I are going to have serious problem....
Anthony Tupou is a genuine great of this game...
his involvement and a top Eight finish is no coincidence ...,
Further .... the access to players like the Fifitas come directly from
Contact and reputation of Anthony....
Get back in your hole Buster you don't have and never will have .... earned the right to

Anthony Tupou is not in the same category as Ian Kirke.
In his day Tupou was no doubt world class but unfortunately it appears at 34 years old those days are gone...the mind is still willing but the body is weak and he appears to be carrying a leg/hip injury and walks with a permanent limp when I've seen him.
There have been certain games where he has shown real quality I recall his game against Catalan at home he came off the bench running onto the ball really hard taking 2/3 to tackle him every time and also scored a good try out wide. It's a shame those performances weren't more frequent.

Let's be honest here - he is our top paid player and was brought to us as a potentialmatch winner. He's a great guy and genuinely gives of his best (so not an Ian Kirk), but we've seen fleeting glimpses of his quality work and we could have got better value elsewhere. Even the Sky commentary team have commented that they were disappointed with his input.
I am trying hard not to be disrespectful as he has had an excellent career, but we can barely afford to have so much tied up in a player who hasn't quite got the legs to deliver on the pitch anymore.

Grow up !!!! The guy is finished.I suggest the clubs that he has been great with may owe him a pension, but not us. What he has contributed to our club in comparison to what he has been paid has been a terrible deal that we can't afford. I am not saying he has not been great in the past and he deserves respect for that. Neil Fox was also a great player but you would not offer him a contract !!!
My point is, he has tried but there is nothing left to give. As the season has progressed, he has contributed less and less. We did get the odd glimpse of he talent early days but even those little flashes of his past ability are no longer there.
If the guy takes a long hard look at himself and does the honourable thing and retires I wish him all the best and accept he at least tried a season with us. However if he carries on into next season just to take the money and contribute zero, then he deserves all the critiscm that will come his way.
The club always comes first to me and when players are getting very highly paid I expect them to pay back on the field, I don't expect them to rip us off.

Yes totally agree. Also as a side issue can you all remember when we were rumoured to be signing him how many so called NRL and Aussie experts derided us and poured scorn on the bloke. He is one of a long line of so called reserve grade rubbish that the know it alls from down under said would never make it.
If he doesn't come back to us and gets a better deal elsewhere, then I wish him well, the guy gave us all he had and never let us down.
