| To save our chairman any further time suggesting we are looking beyond this season I would suggest he puts an advert in the League Express.
"closing down sale"
Everything must go
No offers rejected (swaps considered but only short term)
All cast offs accepted no questions asked
Ground - Vacated
Coach - available to hire
Contact M Carter but be quick once the seasons over it will all be gone.

| Yes, and I doubt he is the only one signed for other clubs next season. I expect that those clubs were not willing to give us a player until the end of the season allowing us to release ours. I suppose we gave Castleford permission to talk to him and negotiate a deal because like many others we had no intention of offering him a contract next season.
What would you do stay at a club in terminal decline or move to one that possesses ambition. It's not Carter's fault he is an accountant whose job it is to save money, it is not an occupation for the ambitious.

Come July 1st the player and his agent can talk to anyone if he's off contract at the end of the season.

| I don't agree with everything Mr Carter does but if I was talking to him now I would advise him to stand down, stop putting money into the club & let the members on this forum take over.
I will then be able to look forward to the top 17 Rugby League players in the world being signed up for next season & watching them destroy all opponents.

| Sure the ones who are good enough are already sorted elsewhere for next season. If you worked somewhere that wasn't secure its human nature to look after yourself and your family. I don't blame any of them for securing a deal where they know they will be safe

| Even in the past players contracts come to an end and they go if we had still been under the franchise system and in the 1st year of it with Hudds offering Dan Smith a four and half year contract he would have still gone and who could blame him more money, more chance of playing in a final and more chance of making test squad if he improves. McShane would probs be off to as he would look at Cas as being an improvement on playing for Wakey. Its the way of the world someone makes you a lot better job offer you take that offer up.

Quite right and nobody can question players for moving for a better contract.
However, the number of changes that we are making at the moment is scary and many in key positions.
Having said that, Smith is a top coach and unless his hand is being forced, he knows what he is doing.

| It could be that the players in key positions just have not cut it, and that along with they either didn't want to stay, didn't have the guts for a scrap or found a club to take them on next season.
The performances have been crap and players in key positions like hooker , full back, half back just aint performed.

| Apart from Collis none of the players who have left concern me as I think they are all replaceable  . what would is if the accountant has already agreed to dispose (cash in) of our home grown talent to his friends  . I think the biggest mistake was the off season recruitment Webster was allowed to do

I've never heard so much garbage. If MC was getting ready to finish off the club why would he bring in Smith ? Why not just keep Webster ? Why bring in Arundel, Moore, Tansey, Sio, Kavanah, Howarth, Locke, Walker, Mullalley, Tupou and Lee Smith ?

you might upset Websters little fan club.
Agree with the recruitment.
Hall - crap.
Kirke - crocked.
Miller - headless chicken.
Ashurst - where is he?
Simon has been solid I admit. But on the whole the recruitment was poor.

That's surprising the time you spend on here the Bard of Barden Road would have you believe it's just a ploy on behalf of agent Carter to de stabilise the club and bring it to it's knees rather than admit it's a supreme effort to keep us in superleague by backing the new coach, who on the face of it has identified the players he cannot rely on and has brought in players who are available to give us a better chance of survival.

| Well I might as well and to your 'world is going to end' list.....
Mr Carter says someone has made Box an offer to buy the stsdium/land.
He doesn't think anything will come of it but that's not good news for us.

As far as WMDC are concerned Newmarket is nothing to do with them and the BOI own BV so why on earth would anyone be making an offer to that slippery eel?

| Is there a reason why the club, with the Council acting as a Guarantor, couldn't get a mortguage on the ground and buy it back from BoI over the next 20 years.
I'm sure BoI would like to get it off their books and it's a step in the right direction for the club in owning their own stadium again.
The big question would be what we do with it then?
Well first of all, we play in it and stay in Wakefield, beyond that we either look for ways of developing it or we continue to chase Newmarket as a long term solution.
If we were to get the ground back and the council stuck to their promise of providing scrubland nearby for parking then maybe a payoff from YCP would be enough to start renovations and maybe one big grandstand.
Maybe it's a non starter right from the off and the club getting a mortgage is never going to happen, but just a thought.

For me the most obvious flaw in your plan is there to see in the very first sentence. Can you really imagine the ever helpful Mr Box agreeing to let the council act as guarantors on a loan?
Personally I don't think the council should do that anyway, but with him in charge the chances are somewhere between nil and zero.
