| First of all I hope the mods don't merge this with the first Agar out thread, This thread is a chance for people to reflect and debate minus the raw emotion.
Also I find these conversations very difficult.
At the end of the day we are talking about a mans future and that of his family and that should never be taken lightly.
However it probably needs talking about rationally sooner rather than later.
I've held back because I find it takes about 48 hours to get a real view of games like Thursdays.
In isolation no way would I sack a coach or even complain about him after the Bradford game.
However we are not talking in isolation here. Agar has not had an easy ride at the club, he was an unpopular choice from the start - the club has never really recovered IMO from the first collapse in 2010 and Agar inherited a mess - he was then left high and dry by Glover. So to say he has mitigating circumstances is an understatement but then what Trinity Coach hasn't.
The real worry for me however is that since the play off run we have pretty much been in free fall with just a short spluttering into life last season that lasted just long enough to spare our blushes. He seems to repeat the same mistakes time and time again. I also get the impression that when we do win it's because the players wanted it which basically makes Agar redundant and that is a disaster. There is for me no feeling that this is an Agar team, in the way there was with JK air Andy Kelly or Toppo - he just seems like a bureaucrat rather than a leader of men. I just don't see anything in what Agar does that remotely inspires me and I think most of us have given him a fair go. I have certainly attempted to support him from day one. Of course I could be wrong and we may be on the brink of greatness but I wouldn't risk my clubs future on it.
So I'm not going to beat around the bush - if we feel he can't do it and eventually will have to go then for all our sakes sack him now and get it over with. Sorry Richard, I don't know you and I wish you no personal ill but for me it's just not happening - at any level.
So who to replace him?
Only one choice for me and that's Glenn Morrison. Not because he's a great Coach, he's not he's still wet behind the ears. Nor is it because he's a great bloke, I mean is he? I don't know I've never met him and does it matter anyway? No it's because he IMO suits WTWRLFC and the predicament it finds itself in. He has some charisma and seems to have that uncanny knack of impressing people and as a club captain leading young and or average players to be the best they can be. I can't really prove any of this for certain, it's more a gut feeling but I suspect it's one felt by many of us.
He may only gift us one or two more games than Agar, but that's probably all we need. As for whether he is the long term answer who knows.
It's been a while since Trinity outright sacked a coach, but I think it's probably over due in terms of showing the players in particular that BV is not a holiday camp.
Thanks for 2012 Richard, and I look forward to the replies.
PS: Other coaches names can be thrown in, it's not just a Morrison thread.

| FFS Vasty...we are two games into a new season with half the team having been replaced in the off season. I didn't go to Salford, but from what I am told we deserved to win against a team of superstars and should have done, just on the performance in the second half alone !!!
Yes, everyone agrees that we played appallingly against the Bulls, but teams do have off days (Warrington last night for example), but it is far too early in the season to start asking for the coaches head on a plate.
We all know it's a do or die season - including the players - so chill out and give them chance to get it together !!!!

| I concur with you FIL
People on this forum are so fickle it's untrue.
Makes me laugh reading all the vitriol as soon as we lose whatever the week.
Everbody breathe.....second game in, give them a chance.
Once again we are very much a cobbled together side. I truly hope none of the players/coaches go anywhere near this forum.
Also amuses me that everybody - well not everybody - thinks that they have more knowledge and expertise than these pro coaches and players.
Anybody got any jokes???

I think you should BMA - behave more appropriately.

| Completely agree with vasty but unfortunately it's not going to happen. It won't be long before more and more people come to the same conclusion and if that happens some pressure may be applied to the board, but I think Agar's position is fairly safe.

FOR CHRIST SAKE READ THE CHUFFING POST - I answered every one of your points as precisely and coherently as I could - what part of my post seems to baffle you? Let me know and I'll try to help you.
My question is simple!!!!!
Do you feel Agar is the man for the job - you've had a few seasons to work it out.
If not, do you think we should act now or await the inevitable when it will make no difference.
Finally how am I finding it easy to shoot bullets, short of reciting the Lords prayer how much more contrition could I show in my post!!

| I think agars done ok and ok only. We have never had a great squad to pick from. our top 8 season was because of the point deduction that bradford received, last season was no better.
Wakey fans expect to be a top club in the top 8 or even making the 4. Get a grip its going to be a battle for wakey to stay in SL, and the sooner you come to terms with it the better.
For as long as i can remember wakey have always shot themselves in the foot season after season. If it aint been the sale of a top player its been a full clear out or money problems

For Flips Sake (what did you think I put, Fergus ??), I did read your pigging post properly Vasty, but, whilst we all know that Agar has had 3 seasons to get it right, he must be as frustrated as the rest of us at constantly having to fight an uphill battle when it comes to losing/signing players.
The three "Aussies" haven't even been here a fortnight yet, and Sammut has only been here a week, with Siejka still to come (hopefully).........you can't put a brand new engine in a car and expect it to perform flat out straight away...it takes time to loosen up !!!

Agar has had to work on a tight budget new players in the squad to gel give him a chance.

Again My opinion is based on the 2 previous seasons not just the two games this year.

| I can see your point, but it does leave a couple of unanswered questions (one of which you do ask)
1) who would you replace him with
2) Who could we afford to replace him with.
IMO Agar has done an OK job with an OK team with limited resources, pretty much the same as Kear and better than other recent coaches.
One thing Agar does seem to have a good record on is spotting a good player who is off everyone else's radar, the only exception to this seems to be his love affair with Lynne (but I will allow him that due to his other findings) besides I have a feeling that Lynne is going to surprise a few this season as he already has a little for me.
I think for the last 2 seasons we have hit above our weight and this year we will probably finish about where we should be, which will be 12th or 13th. With the resources we have and the players we have, you cannot argue for much better, if we do manage a bit better then great, but my expectation isn't for much more.

| I'm not sure that any coach could have done a great deal more with the resources and the background turmoil that Agar has had to deal with; in the midst of all that, he's brought some great players to the club and in fairness, some of his spots saved the club this time around - players he brought here were sold at huge profit to dig us out of a hole.
This squad looks better than last year and given the lack of coherent off-season and the fact that our pivots are strangers; I'm prepared to give it a few more games to see what they can actually do.
As for alternatives - Morrison is unproven as a coach; Kear is a dinosaur; Cullen has a proven track record of failure and even the much vaunted Peter Gentle, who we were fighting over last season and was going to change the face of British RL, was an abject failure in SL.
Meanwhile - Andy Kelly has just been appointed as Head of Youth development at Shudds (something of an oxymoron in the past!) - maybe he'll make a return to SL coaching one day?
In the meantime - I'm happy to see what Agar does with this squad; personally, I think he'll keep us up.

1 win in 7 with a far more settled squad (with arguably better players). Still relegation form. Ironically the 1 came after the poop hit the fan.
