That suggests to me that we're confident of signing Paul Sykes on a permanent deal and we'll be going with Aiton and Wood. It'll leave us a bit short if we don't recruit and pick up a long term injury thought.

for me its a mess. Andy was the best hooker at the club and the play the ball area was seen to be much cleaner and quicker.

his ball from the ruck was the cleanest and fastest we have had in years, no small coincidence we went off on a winning run with the momentum created for the pack. Aiton and Wood are half a second slowe but have more speed on the break. Ah well....

Unbelievable that Ellis has been released, especially if 1-in-6 Wood is to be retained.

Shame if true,thought he played well from dummy half ,run the ball in well when needed to and a good defensive game.Good Luck to him if true,Fev have got an ecellent hooker.I hope Aiton,Wood and another,if we get one,prove it's the right decision.

I presume this could only happen to free up funds for other playera next year? Aiton, smith and amor are all on improved contracts and then there is mathers/sykes if we take on their wage demands.

Best move Wakefield could have ever made. Ellis is the worst professional rugby league footballer I've ever seen.

Really bad move, I felt he was the better option to Wood to partner Aiton next season. Still if he's not going to figure in Agar's plans its better to free up his salary. Hopefully Trinity will not be contributing a percentage of Ellis' wage now he's at Featherstone

London still needed to replace him as Rinaldi has gone, and they got Tommy Lee.

No disrespect to Fev but I thought he would be able to hack it at the top.
I think he will be a good signing for Fev. He will make others play better around him too.

He will not get in the side now Aitons back so may aswell sell him and free up space for new signings. Played well for us and wish him well.

If it was a choice between Aiton, Ellis and Wood, I would've kept Aiton and Ellis.

From what I can gather, we've beaten off competition from two SL clubs for his signature.

Suggests there maybe more to this like they have offered him a job part time as well and he's on a cushy number. Can't fault him as you have to look at the financial side of things first these days.

Ellis joined us from London on a 3 year deal, so he still has 2 years still to run on it. Got to admit I didn't think the rumors were true but there must be more to this than meets the eye, maybe he's on a decent deal, too decent and they thought the money could be used better else where, who knows but it'll be interesting to find out.

We can't afford the luxury of keeping Aiton, Ellis and Wood, so something has to give. If the squad is improved overall then fair do's; good luck to him and to Fev.

Disappointed and puzzled by this, but hopefully money will be well spent on forwards
