Im all for RL getting the respect it deserves in a wider audience and good luck to Jamie Peacock comes across as a nice bloke....but leg end and role model....mmm NO....

JP sums up what I love about old school British props. Just batter in there, and there is no such thing as a backward step.

He's been leading by example for a good number of years now, never takes a backward step, never gives less than 100%, and is looked up to by all his fellow pro's, sorry but this man is a legend.

Not knocking the bloke as a player...depends on what you call legend ?...Wally Lewis, Darren Lockyer, Ellery Hanley, Alex Murphy, Neil Fox yes.....I respect any player who is good enough to get paid for playing RL...the blokes a good honest trier no world beater no legend just a good honest pro.

The players you mention are all legends I agree who were all blessed with great skill, kicking handling speed ect. but rugby league is a team game and you need players who can do the hard yards. Every time I see Jamie Peacock he invariably makes some great yards for his team when their backs are against the wall and to do this year after year at the top level puts him in legendary status.

You started really well there, until you got to the last sentence which is to put it mildly, completely ludicrous.

JP has been named best forward in the world twice in a row ('no worldbeater'?)
He's made the Superleague dream team for all but 3 of the last 11 years, captained the national team for many years and won more Championship rings than any other player.
He's also won every other domestic trophy on offer and a has a couple of WCCs to boot.

Talk to any discerning Leeds fan and they'll tell you he's one of most influential players the club has ever signed.
That may be pretty ordinary to you, but I suspect your in a pretty tiny minority.

I understand that HRH the Queen is especially fond of that YouTube clip where Peacock knocks the tar out of Wilie Mason, so perhaps that's why he's been honoured?

Either way, good for him and for the game - pity it's been a bit overshadowed by the bent shenanigans of another Wiganer.

I like Peacock he's been a class act and fair play to him. But the honours list is just a load of old irrelevant that has run it's course imo

Peacock deserves his honour as most do who get such recognition, however I also think the list is irrelevant. I think they are having a laugh with some of the past and present recipients! Totally outdated -find a different way to recognise our sportspeople without dragging them into the often old pals act of receiving such an 'award'

bloody legend. no where near mate.good bloke, decent player. over-rated for the past 2 seasons. time he retired completely from international game and gave better players that are waiting in the wings their chance. when he is not training because his knees are so bad. then he should know its time. but legend mate ,no chance

As a rule I find the vast majority of Wakey fans to be pretty knowledgeable.

If Jamie Peacock had been made a free agent this season you would have shown interest,but alas you well know you wouldnt have much chance of getting him.

What I am saying is this Jmie Peacock is a recognised great of the sport of rugby league and that translates to "legend",but because he plays for Leeds some people who are Wakefield fans dont accept this ,because he plays for Leeds and that is what I call childish

One person objected to the term 'legend,' which is oft-debated on here as being a term that is over-used in the modern game; there wasn't really any need to fire back with childish digs at our club in my view. Two wrongs don't make a right, and all that shizzle.

He did have a point though.
He was replying to a point that represents a tiny minority on this thread and I'm sure amongst Wakey fans in general. That point, I suspect, (unless the poster is a complete moron), was motivated by blind fanaticism and a 'hate thy big-city neighbour' attitude that undoubtedly exists among some Wakey fans. In view of this I think Lionarmour is entitled to throw the attitude back at him.

Good luck to the lad,Im not into this honours thing and am sure someother way could be used.Even when on the other end of a result you dont get him slagging off the opposition.Hes been a good player but a Legend come on never a month of sundays
