| Shamelessly stolen from the Wigan board which they shamelessly stole from the Bulls.
Pick two Wakefield players from any era and compare them with each other, eventually coming up with a winner and explaining your reasons. The only other rules are that you must have seen them play and they must have spent the majority of their careers playing the same position as each other.
I'll have a go to get us started:
Harold Poynton Vs David Topliss
For me it goes to Poynton, he was as quick and elusive as Toppo but had greater ability to step and beat a man on his own. He also had better hands and defensive ability than David. He was part of a very successfully team and contributed greatly to that success which shows he was a winner. To the best of my knowledge he only served Trinity as a player whereas Topliss went to Hull FC and then Oldham.

I'll think you'll find most Wakefield supporters would choose solomona despite the circumstances in which he left. The guy was unplayable we were the most dangerous I've ever seen on the left hand side with solo at our disposable and won us many games, Morro was a good leader put his all but never had the same impact as Solo, I suspect Bradford would choose Morrison.

Pretty good analysis.
Andy Mason or Ryan Atkins?
Gareth Ellis or Glenn Morrison?

I didn't see Andy Mason so can't comment regarding Ellis V Morro, again I'm going to have to go with Ellis, One of our own to start with but rose up the ranks and was a very good centre before he moved to the second row, Quite often he dragged us round the pitch pulled other players out of position and every job he was asked to do he did it quite easily. He represented GB whilst playing for the Trin which testifies how good he was as we constantly get overlooked in this respect.
Ellis had class written all over him in which ever position he was asked to pkay in.

| Albert Talipeau v Glenn Tomlinson.
Solo v Morrison - Solo by a mile. Even though at times he clearly wasn't happy at Wakey and used to throw the ball into row Z or at half-back's faces he always gave the option of an easy 15 yards or to draw defenders.
A tougher choice for me would be Morro v Elima. We never saw the best in the now outstanding Ollie but he could change a game with a tackle or impossible offload. Given the choice of a 26yo Morro or Ollie and I couldn't choose. I suppose Morro would suit a team who has to roll their sleeves up and Elima better suited to a well drilled side who can dominate oppositions.

| I'd go for Mason over Atkins just because he was that bit more skilful and not just a big fast lad like Atkins. Both played briefly for GB and Atkins may well develop into a better player.
Ray Price or Glenn Morrison?
Brent Todd or Jarrod Hickey?

| Andy Mason every time over Ryan Atkins. Atkins is powerful and can break a tackle but Andy Mason had that irreplaceable ingredient, lightning pace. He create a break from nothing, no need to rely on another player to put him through. Exciting even anticipating him getting the ball.

Genetically splice them together and you'd get a prop about half as good as Kyle Bibb

Nigel Bell every time. Johnny was/is a great clubman as was Nigel Bell, but Bell's tackling alone put him infront of almost anybody.
I know that time blurs the mind, but he never missed a tackle and most opponents were bent double before hitting the ground.
Of all the other players i've seen in red white and blue, only Ray Price came close

Billy Conway/ Sam Obst
Glancy and Jackson both solid roll your sleeves up props, neither did the flashy stuff but would always give 100% effort.
The second 2 both legendary hookers, which one would you pick today ?

| Years ago the Yorkshire Evening Post compared Nigel Bell against Roy Powell (RIP) of Leeds. This was the era when Belly had moved into the forwards and the question was Why had Roy Powell been selected for GB insread of Nigel Bell?? Although Roy Powell was a clean hard working forward in almost all of the catogories Nigell Bell came out on top but he was overlooked for GB and Roy Powell was selected.....I don.t suppose playing for Leeds had owt to do with it though

Its probably not the fact that Powell played for leeds, but the fact that Bell played for Wakefield.
Our players only get the nod when they move on, something that definitely needs to change.

| Andrew Frew vs Paul Sampson - Both electric, just a shame it was rarely seen in the RW&B
Neil Law vs David Jones - Both big strong wingers
Martyn Holland vs Gary Spencer - Steady away full backs who rarely let you down. Neither blessed with blistering pace, but decent under the high ball and not bad in defense
Phil Eden vs Richard Goddard - Neither really ever fulfilled potential
David Solomona vs Darren Fritz - Solomona was awesome for us and just behind Ray Price as the best player i have seen in RW&B. Fritz in the short time he was with us was at times un playable running out wide. Id go for Solo, if Fritz had stayed a bit longer, it could have been a close run thing.
Paul Round vs Nick Du Toit - Good fight that i reckon.

Ok Martyn Holland /Kevin Harcombe
Harcombe had a good boot on him which would probably swing it ?
