Just received an email from the club for the Celebrate Wakefield 2011 Dinnner.
It sounds really good, but I have to say the choice of host has left me somewhat bewildered.
The Email reads as follows:
We are delighted to be able to attach details of our end of Season Dinner, this year we intend to make it bigger and better than ever, we aim to make it the biggest and best event in Wakefield in 2011.
 
The event will take place on Tuesday 13th September here at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium on the pitch in a purpose built marquee, hosted by Sky Sports Presenter Eddie Hemmings. A four course meal will be followed by the First Team Player awards with various entertainment throughout the night including the fantastic Back For Good (Take That) Show. The evening will be a celebration of Wakefield as a City with various Wakefield Successes from around the City over past year being celebrated on the night.
 
We would very much like you to join us for this fantastic evening, you can find details of the various tickets prices on the attached flyer, we also have tables of ten available. This event is sure to be extremely popular so we would ask that you book your place asap to avoid disappointment.

I am sure it will be a brilliant night.

JK would be a good host, he could tell us how rosy our future looks, especially with all the up and coming youngsters then he buggers off to Cas a few weeks later.

Lets just say Mr Hemmings will get a frosty reception.

Unless the club know something we don't know. Eddie has fashioned us for the drop from the beginning of the season so if we do go down I could honestly see him getting heckled that much that he storms off stage with the huff on! That in itself would be worth the admission money alone. Should we get the boot every guest should turn up with a dozen rotten eggs and tomatoes and pelt him!

Have to agree though, I think asking Hemmings to host this event is a massive misstep on the part of WTW; the man has spent the entire season patronising us, condemning us to the scrapheap and deliberately ignoring our positive achievements. If there has been a media agenda against us, he could reasonably be cast as its instigator and poster boy.

I for one, couldn't keep me dinner down if I had to look at his smug face schmoozing it at the top table; for those reasons, I'm out.

the only way this event will succeed is if Trinity recieve a franchise.

even if we have a franchise he'd be a rubbish choice of host. the man's a bore, and this is how i always judge people in the media when it comes to our sport: would he ever pay into a game out of his own money?

eddie isn't to blame if we don't get a franchise, but he's the slimy frontman for the game's broadcast partner who are in bed with the rfl around this whole sick process.

I can see parallels between this event and the band playing on the titanic.

Wearing of black ties is also quite appropriate.

Feline's buddy Shuttleworth should host it. He's great company by all accounts.
