That said, I don't see any evidence of match fixing, more a bloke thinking his team will lose on the handicap. Match fixing would need a hell of a lot more than one player involved.

Do I think the game is bent? Not a chance. There's far more dodgy results out there in other sports, look at football in Italy where the draw pre-match is 1/3, and individual sports where the players can easily conspire a result.

Whether it's having a bet (and surely you'd get a mate to do it and not brag) or posting on Facebook, players do seem to be idiots at times!

Not being funny but if the by 'Match fixing' they mean as printed being able to see when a handicap is not enough and worth a couple of quid, then this is a massive scandal. Think of all the supporters who must also be involved when they have bet against their team winning.

Indeed, I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up getting sacked from being a teacher 'cause, if I remember correctly from when I used to teach, teachers have a duty of care to be a positive role model for their pupils even when outside of school and getting splashed across the front page of The Sun isn't exactly something for kids to aspire to.
