| Just been having a look for the application on the WMDC planning website and not been able to find it as yet.
It has been encouraging to have a look at the expected decision dates of applications submitted on the same day. There is usually a 2 to 3 month turn around, admittedly i don't know how the council prioritizes projects or if they do it in a first come first served method, which would be the fair choice... but that timescale looks theoretically encouraging when you consider the overall timescale we have to work with.
Fingers crossed we can keep this decision in Yorkshire.... Do we have time for a public inquiry?

| If it were to be called in then the obviously tight deadlines would be pushed to the max but there still would be time. As I mentioned on the other thread an electrical power station that will use the methane left over from the Silkstone Colliery operations has just been granted approval for construction in the same area so one would think that as a precedent it bodes well for YorkCourts proposals.

| Has anyone seen anything about the permission being granted for the power station online. I cant seem to find anything.
Sort of takes away the "untouched natural land" argument just a tad. Yes i do think it sets a precedent.

The power station is a separate scheme. It originally got approval back in 2003 but nothing was constructed so the planning permission had to be renewed.

I know its separate.
My line of thought was along the lines of the land where the stadium will be built has always been viewed as "land which will be re-developed sooner or later".IMO the councils decision to renew planning permission says a great deal about the intended land use for the surrounding region i.e. the future j30 development.
Does anyone know how the regulations regarding leveling and clearance work? when can we start or do we have to wait for outline planning permission to touch the land?

Just had a look at the website of the energy firm.
www.alkane.co.uk/our-company/our ... and-values
All looks very professional, just shows level of development in the area and highlights the interest it will create.
Has the WCCG made a statement about this? Looks like they might have a fight on more than one front on their hands, although they appear to have already lost one.
Even the greenest of people would agree that the construction of something like a power station, "green powered" or not would poke a massive hole in the argument of people petitioning against Yorkcourt on the basis of saving a "green, open space".
Would you walk your dog, or let your children play next to a development like that? No, you would enjoy one of the MANY other green spaces our city can boast.
FWIW I think the council wanted the land developed all along, why else approve the power station if you want the land to remain undeveloped?

And?
I would've thought with what is entailed it would take a while to consider the application.
Even so, 7 months to consider outline planning is still within the time scale needed for a new stadium. When I spoke to the YorkCourt representative at the open day before Christmas he estimated should everything run smoothly then construction could begin in August/September.

| The Power Station is only a small plant. Don't be thinking that it is of any real size. The plant is nothing to do with any development but burns the methane from the old mine workings to generate electricity which is put into the Grid. The plant is only there temporarily until all the methane has been used then its removed and the site restored. The operation is very "green" as methane is a bad greenhouse gas and when its burned it produces electricity, heat and water vapour (steam) which caused less damage to the environment than methane.
The period for determining a planning application is 13 weeks. In my experience I have never seen a major application determined in that period. My guess is that it will be a minimum of 6 months and more likely 9 months.
This should not be a problem as if the Detailed Application for the Community Stadium is submitted in the next 4 to 6 months it should be determined not long after the Outline Consent is granted provided it is granted. We could therefore have a Planning Consent for the Community Stadium in place before the end of this year and commence construction soon after that.
With a fair wind we could be in the new Stadium for the start of the 2012 Season provided we have the full support of all parties involved with the project most notably the Council.

Thanks for that. Yeah here's to it all going according to plan.
In your experience how much public discussion is there during the process or will it be all behind closed doors?

Hi, I'm genuinely intersted in the new stadia that are hopefully been built by RL clubs so this isn't a dig('scuse the pun).
Having seen the Saints stadium dateline pushed back & back (I dont think 2010 will be their last games at Knowsley Rd TBH) and with your plans only fairly recently going in plus a minumum of a 15 month build time along with likely objections can you honestly say hand on heart that you'll be in for 2012?
How do fans feel about possibly having Featherstone playing games there as well?

I did say "with a fair wind" we could be in for the nstart of SL 2012. Of course there is a risk that it will slip but I don't think thats a problem. As long as the Stadium is under construction I think we will be granted a franchise. We may have to play a few games at Belle Vue until its ready. Of course the Council may turn the planning round in 13 weeks but I think thats unlikely.
Its a Community Stadium - Featherstone, Castleford or anyone else can play there - its up to the Community Trust.

The application will be open for public viewing at the Council offices and any member of the publib can make comments, raise concerns or objections all of which will be given fair consideration against all the benefits the development will bring to the area. It will not be behind closed doors.

I've emailed the planning department and was advised its still with the officer who's responsible for the validation of planning applications.
It should be up next week.

| They aim to decide whether to grant planning permission or refuse it by the 24th of May (I believe)
So we could have outline PP for then, then submit full details soon after
Well thats certainly alot quicker than I expected.
Here's hoping

Do remember that this is only part of the process. Assuming WMDC give the green light, the plans WILL be called to the regional office in Leeds and then we will have to wait and see whether a Public Enquiry is required.
