| As far as Celtic are concerned that ground in Newport that they are moving to is far worse than Belle Vue so I don't see how that will benefit them.
I think we will be OK and by this time next year we shall be in a much better position than some of the others on that list.

| Surely the RFL letter can only be a good thing (for Wakey and Cas), in that it will really ram home to the those in power, the need to pull their fingers out and get some steel in the ground!

| Right, having been in regular contact with Ted on this matter I would just like to offer a comment of 'don't panic'.
This letter is just the formalisation of a process which is ongoing with all the affected clubs, and is something that has to happen or else why even have the application system.
We do not need reminding that this is the one thing we need to do in order to retain our licence.
I am aware that there is some news to hit the press shortly on the progress of our stadium. Not for the first time our neighbours were very quick off the mark in reporting the significance of the decision from WMDC last week to allow land to be 'borrowed against' in order to facilitate stadia. However, despite the lack of the immediate presence of such publicity on the part of Wakefield, this decision was also very much in the benefit of the Wakefield Community Trust, through which the stadia, and associated facilities, will be built.
As said, I am aware of some publicity being prepared, so I do not wish to steal anyones thunder but, for those who will read this and be a little 'worried', I would just like to offer the re-assurance that the Wakefield side of things is progressing very nicely, thank you.
HTH.

We've been a bit delayed because Taylor Wimpey almost went belly up and they are buying the Knowsley Road site (at a cost to them of £8 million, which they are not liking at present because although it was worth that at the time of signing contracts, it isn't worth that at the moment, and they are still weak financially). Tesco is the strongest link in the project as they are making squillions in profit.
Government money awarded to the project has financed a substantial clearance work of the new site. That will need to continue as it is a contaminated site (chemicals, glass, etc) and there are some safety works required (there is a mine shaft somewhere on it, for instance). Also, an access road needs to be completed. A planned walkway has recently been completed.
Complex designs are being finished this month and it should be next month when the work goes out to tender. Building work is due to begin in December of this year, which is behind the original schedule but all going well, it will keep to the new schedule.
The original completion date was late 2010, moving in for the start of the 2011 season. However, although that is still what we are aiming for apparently, we may have to find a new home for a while to bridge the gap. Widnes, perhaps?

I was led to believe by my council colleague that there are ground surveys taking place at the moment, very much to do with the new stadium.

In the sense that naff all has been announced to the public. Other than that, no I don't have a clue. TBF I don't care as long as the bleeder gets built, just like Cas's.

| Ok Ok the stadium talk has gone quiet but once it is getting built surely to goodness it shouldn't take more than 15month to build. Very poor timing for the RFL to announce this threat to the press, we are going so well as well we don't need a disruption like this and players getting worried. Basically we have the best academy in the country us and Castleford put together look at the catchment area for the players in are areas it is huge. Seriously Widnes and maybe tolouse and even fax are only the teams worth putting in and maybe SL should be extended to 16 teams making play off positions even harder to reach. Yes i am for a new ground but it should not be the bee all and end all the RFL are making out. Cas and Wakey are far stronger than the likes of Salford but Salford are the only team based in Manchester that is the only reason they are there its a joke. Fax and Widnes should be in for a 16 team comp and see how Tolouse progress. This is my opinion.

I Agree but i had gut feeling for the last couple of weeks the RLF are up to know good it makes no sense for them to go public and only yesterday the clown from Widnes was saying how there next bid wont fail.

| i think it is fair to say you can have the greatest plans in the world but unless there is bricks laid and concrete spilt then the RFL will turn down any application for a club who have been mentioned in that link with the exception of saints.
i accept the warning as i feel it is the right thing by the RFL - we (cas) must push the process on and as soon as they are out to tender (fingers crossed within 2 months, plans will come to fruition for a completion date of end of 2010.
my fea ris if come june 2010 a brick has not been laid etc the RFL will tunr down ours or anybody elses application.
i am confident we will be ok unless there are any unforseen hick ups now i just hope the same can be said for the others - oh and dont get me started about Hull KR! JOKE!!!

| This letter was expected and to be commended in some way. It gives the clubs a little kick up the back side that's needed. I'm sure all the concerned clubs will take note and try and crack on.
But as already mentioned, how the hell are Hull KR excluded from all this?

| Helps the RFL take the heat off the Cunningham and Ferres fiasco. Cas and Wakey fans argue over the stadiums instead of questioning how one gets a suspension and the other gets naff all!

| I think as long as something physical (and I mean something more then moving muck around a site) is happening prior to the next batch of licenses are due to be submitted then the endangered clubs, as long as they score enough points on the other criteria, should be OK with retaining their license.

So I assume the RFL class CP to be up to SL standard then! Surely even ground like Belle Vue wont take that long or cost that much to get to the same standard as CP.

Celtic arel ikely moving to Newports ground which is due to be redeveloped into a 15,000 capacity stadium in 2010. Saints got a B license the last time around. Cas, Wakey and Salford are the only C License clubs in danger of not playing in an upgraded facility.
