I dont see much point changing much from leeds match, although if latu is injured id put obst as replacement hooker, slot grix in at 6 and let murphy go onto wing.

Have gone for Murphy on wing as I think he deserves his chance. Also gone for Grix at SO as he was playing his best rugby there before the injury he picked up and has had to fill in at wing since through injuries to other players.
20. Tevita Leo Latu & 17. Kevin Henderson to miss out. Latu to miss out through injury (although if fit and raring to go might have him in instead of Obst). Henderson to miss out as others offer more in his position.

murphy on wing in place of grix, obst at stand off JD in pack or on bench. swap korki for stosic and that'll do for me

| I can't believe with the availability of Murphy that Grix can still be favoured on the wing.
Hopefully Kear will resist the temptation to stick with the same team after a promising performance last Friday.

Murphy took his try against Saints at BV very well (pass from Atkins, was it?) and had a solid game, particularly when you consider the circumstances. Should be given another go if fit, IMO.

I agree. I don't see that Grix is playing as badly as some think. Murphy only comes in when he proves himself to be better, not just proves himself to be fit.

How can he prove himself better if he's not given the chance to do so? Murphy is a better three-quarter the Grix, mainly because it's his natural position where as Grix does not have one.

His natural position is centre so that arguement does not really stand up.
And if the way to prove yourself was to be given a shot i the first team, why haven't we played every player in the squad. We would just be constantly rotating.
That is where JK has the advantage as he sees them at training where as we only see one guy playing in first team and one guy playing (if we go watch) in the second team. It's hard to compare.
BUT, JK did say that coming back from injury didn't give you a right for a place, you have to displace someone....so a combination of playing well in second team and showing up well in training I guess.

| The two selections from last week that I hope to see changed are Grix on the wing & JD at 6. Murphy should definitely play on the wing & then it's a choice of Grix or JD at 6.
IMO the only reason to select JD at 6 ahead of Grix is because he's "captain" and that isn't a good enough reason to select anyone. If the "captain" of any side is only getting selected because they're "captain" then they become a weakening force on the team rather than a galvanising & encouraging influence.
In short, Hendo & JD to miss out from the 19.
Now I'm off to see where I packed the flak jacket when I moved to Surrey on Monday!!!

| Numbers didn't mean anything in that game.
It was quite clear that Leo-Latu played hooker and Sam was one of the pivots essentially stand off. JD played his normal game.
I wouldn't be against Grix at 6 but Sam did enough to keep his place in a similar formation. His management of his own defense and defeive positioning was excellent and proved he is no weak link.

| I presume Pryce is playing at 6 for them, so I would like to see our best defencive number 6 marking him.
Having watched the SOO 3 today which was a fantastic game I would suggest that Pryce is one of say 5 or 6 English players who could have played at that level. Our problem is that two of the others are Graham and Roby. So even if we did manage to look after Pryce ( which I have yet to see ) Saints have plenty of others who we need to worry about.
Anyway I think Grix, Obst, Drew, Brough would all struggle to contain Pryce, they are just not big enough, so I would go with JD at 6 and get Latu to smash his ribs as second or third man in as many times as possible.

| Drop JD in place of grix??? you must see something i'm missing. When snitch went off last week we replaced latu for fergie and moved jd to 9 where he held our middle strong and got us forward. How you have come to deciding who the 6 is out of a winger and loose fro last week is confusing.

Gone are the old days of targetting players like that i reckon it should make a comeback this week though it worked at Hull KR on Brad drew.

| Grix should have been dropped weeks ago, playing out of position on the wing is no excuse for the number of balls he has dropped, IMHO.

What we do when we're a man down during a game depends on the other 16 playing so JD moving to 9 for 10 minutes means nothing.
If we have Obst & Drew interchanging at hooker with Latu at loose forward there isn't a need to use JD to make up the numbers in the pack. Last week he alternated between 6 & 13 at the scrum depending on field position.
I firmly believe that JD is fast approaching the end of his playing days at Belle Vue & we need to look to the future. IMO the only "justification" for his selection for most of this season is that fact that he's club captain & that simply isn't a good enough reason to pick someone no matter who they are. At the moment there are at least 17 players performing better than JD and we clearly have to play our form players against Saints.
My team would be as follows:
Blaymire
Murphy
Gleeson
Atkins
Petersen
Grix
Brough
Moore
Drew
Stosic
Snitch
Ferguson
Latu
Wilkes
Bibey
Obst
Korkidas
