Read it about it earlier and my first thought was, how on earth did they get that IMG rating with all that going on, think they must have been hiding some info from the gradings

I don't think they paid any rent for years so surprised they weren't turfed out already.

Not good, I think this could be the tip of the iceberg and there is much more going on. I agree it's others, the facts they present make you wonder how they got such an high grading.
However I like them a a club and hope they can find a solution

Say what you want about Carter , he cut his cloth accordingly, yes it ended in relegation,but at least we got to fight another day . Some may say a master stroke by clearing the decks ready for our saviour to start more or less afresh

Well who would've thought it, a club living beyond its means and relying on the council, supporter good will and selling prized assets. Love watching them play the game but it's only a matter of time before matters off the field catches up with them.

It's the genuine fans who bought into the recent hype that I feel sorry for, sounds very much like the Bradford situation from a few years ago and look how that ended up !!

Their press release even admits that the "fan ownership" was simply to monetise the club to get to the end of the season, when they thought the council would bail them out with the stadium deal.

If the council don't underwrite their next tenancy deal (like the one that Salford have failed to pay anyway), their tenancy will end in 21 days.

If the they don't have the ground, they forfeit their SL central funds = they are immediately insolvent.

It’s very bad news for the game not just for Salford!

Why is that?

It’s bad news for the game whenever a team is struggling financially!
A team whose recently been in a number of finals and regularly reached the play-offs now look like they could implode like Bradford before them, is that not bad for the game?

It looks like bad management to me, spending what you haven't got. You reap what you sow.

How is it bad news that a club who spends its rent on marquee players goes bust? That's their business model choice.

How can you laud a club as being successful, when that success is built on that non-payment of essential bills?

Did you know that Salford are on record as admitting that, since moving to the new ground, they have NEVER once paid their full rent?

Salford council pay, as they underwrite the Devil's tenancy agreement. This current begging letter is to try and get the council to underwrite an even bigger black hole of a new tenancy agreement.

I am certainly comfortable knowing we were relegated because we ran a sustainable business model - if we have a quid, we'd spend a quid.

I feel for the supporters, always had time for Salford RLFC.
Their supporters deserve better.

Surely the council have given them a lot if they are allowing them to stay without paying rent all this time?

The council has been underwriting their rent since they moved in to the AJ Bell, they defaulted on a CVA and got deducted points for it from memory, looks like things haven't improved, they haven't learned from it and the council have decided enough is enough.
The community funded club thing was just a rouse to get through the season that actually fell short, hence the reason they sold on a couple of long term contracted players, how has the RFL allowed the recent transfers/player to move in to Salford with all this going on, how have they managed to get the IMG rating they have based on all this. then to add to that now they are asking for further dispensation from their council.

Not paying your rent doesn't affect IMG or signing players if it's agreed with your landlord. It's when you default that there's a problem.

Not exactly asking politely either, guaranteed to get a council officials backs up.

Salford has been a sham club since moving to the new stadium, and although I feel for the fans, it's quite obvious they have been living well beyond their means, hoping to buy success. It's actually worked on the pitch, but is unsustainable off it.

Its a non financed debt so definitely affect IMG scoring
