He’s one that may take a little longer to come through but the raw materials are there.

He could be a decent season loan target.

Why would he come back. He isn't being pushed out on loan

He was sent out on loan last season and with HKRs acquisitions so far he won’t have risen up their front row pecking order. He’s a Wakefield lad, a Wakefield fan and he came through the Wakefield System so he might jump at the chance to come back and get regular games

Agree, he's only played 7 games for Hull KR last season, even taking into account he had a wrist injury he was recovering from to start the season, I bet he was looking for more game time than that. He got twice that almost with us in 2022. I'm not sure if they've strengthened where he plays but I know Kennedy's not there in front of him anymore, so maybe he'll be in their 17 more regularly next season.
At his age, 23, he needs to be getting more game time than he is and he'll get it here next season imo and Hull KR get a more experienced player back. Saying that he only signed a 2-year contract for them, so would they be bothered about a loan deal to us unless they plan on keeping him and see him as a future regular player

I felt at the time he'd made a mistake leaving. He might be earning more, but he was never going to get the game time there that he'd have with us last year. A full season with us, playing regularly and he'd have still been free to go wherever he wanted at the end of the season. It worked for Eseh.

One injury would have put him in challenge cup final last year. You can see why he'd want to give it a go.
He broke a thumb so that probably slowed his progress.

That's the point, he was relying on other people's misfortune. He'd not only have been a regular with us, but one of the better props if he carried on progressing the way he was at the end of 2022. He still wouldn't have played in a Challenge Cup Final but his stock may have risen even more. Might not have felt much fun in the short term, but long term he could have been earning more as well as being a regular at a club challenging for trophies. I felt it before he left and feel the same now. I hope he kicks on at HKR because I feel he has the potential to be a very good player.

He isn't replying on an injury. He's trying to be good enough to be in the top 4 props.
Wouldn't matter how good he played for us, he wasn't getting to Wembley.
He wasn't to know some guy was going to come in with money. He wasn't even guaranteed a place in our team at the time.

I'm not saying he should have stayed because Ellis came in, I'm saying he should have stayed because he'd have walked into our team last season. He'd have had 15-20 games under his belt. Instead he played around 6 or 7, half what he played the year before.

But as he was out for so long with a thumb injury he wouldn't have played for us either, and he'd have been in a losing team every week too.
Hull KR are very much a team on the up. If he'd stayed he might have played more games but he'd have been relegated so his value goes down.
I'd like to keep our young talent but imo he made the right choice for himself at that time.

| I maybe wrong, but wasn't both Batchelor and Aydin both under the agent that had a falling out with MC.
Also, consider this. If we do come back up and challange the top 6 immediately, which is what Ellis wants to hit constantly, and these players that left to chase better money and silverware dont achieve that, who's to say some potentially come back.

| I can understand people wanting Batch back. I can understand people being sad at the loss of Eseh, I was devastated that we lost TJ, but Aydin!
Don't get me wrong, he's a decent player, borderline SL imo. However he's gone and that's that. There are plenty of forwards out there who are as good if not better and when/if we re-join SL it's the better ones I'd want.
It seems to me that this Aydin thing has far more to do with him being a supposedly hard done too ex Academy lad, than his actual ability. If it weren't for that I seriously doubt anyone on here would be touting him as a signing.
We owe our youngsters a chance, but once they leave we owe them absolutely nothing. Isaac Shaw is the man we concentrate on now, he's the one wearing the RW&B of Trinity, the past is the past.

The financial terms he was offered were derisory by Trinity.
He was offered double your money deals by 2 clubs and took the one he felt best for him.
He missed the preseason last year due to injury which will impact massively any player let alone a young developing middle and then picked up another injury on his return.
He’s getting a full preseason under his belt this year at a club that will be competing at the top end of the table and he’s still a very young.
I personally think he would have been a great direct replacement for Arona in 2023 but the club felt otherwise.
I do think he needs to be making an impact this year with 10-15 games.
I don’t think he would have kept us up in 2023 but I do think the squad would be stronger for having him in it and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him back at the club in the future.

| Yep, have to agree, Vasty.
Aydin never broke through into our first team and even though he went on loan to Leeds he obviously didn't impress enough there to warrant them making him an offer...was a 6/10 player for me.
If he kicks on to the next level with KR then good luck to him but for me that ship has sailed and we move on to (hopefully) bigger and better things

| Puzzled about the suggestions that Wakefield should sign him on loan. He's exactly the type of player who is probably going to end up playing regularly for Fev this season given the DR link-up with HKR, and Wakefield have their own DR agreement with Wigan which will give them access to players who are probably better anyway.

Not really, they offered him what I call a train on squad deal, in essence exactly the same deal he had with us.

Not true.
100% was offered a deal at Leeds, with a massive financial upgrade in what he was offered by us. He was offered slightly more and better assurances over first team rugby at KR along with a shared part time living agreement over there with Batch.

You don't half have a habit of changing your mind regarding players that you deem suitable for Trinity. I remember you saying he was too small, and wouldn't make it. TBF you changed that opinion later, but I don't recall you ever being an enthusiast.
You are totally over egging him now! He's not a patch on Arona, never was, never will be, nothing like the versatility or skill levels. He wasn't remotely an Arona replacement imo. Arona played 70 NRL games, and 10 games for the Cook Islands, one of the better second tier International teams.
Phantoms got it more correct imo, he will see out his deal at HKR, playing mainly for Fev, before finally joining them. Had he stayed at Trin he may have become a Mr dependable, but he didn't, and that chance has gone.
I think your Wigan bias stops you seeing just how serious Ellis actually might be. If he matches his words he and his coach won't be looking at bringing Aydin back. Once back in SL we will be looking to compete with the likes of Wigan. Would Wigan sign Aydin, no they wouldn't.
This all boils down to how seriously you take the new regime, and I don't think you are. I understand that, we've been here before, but until proved otherwise then Aydin is not the class of player we will be signing should we return to SL, unless he improves hugely.
Finally how do you know what he was offered?
