Class, there aren't many players in the league who score that 2nd try. It was very Tom Johnstone esque.

| After getting caught by Mamo in the first half I didn’t expect him to round him like he did for the full length effort.
He timed his evasive jump to perfection.
He’s a very exciting prospect who is only going to get better the more he plays.

The first time he didn't lift his legs the second time he learned, this lad is more than replacing Tom I'd say it got it to be better than him just in fitness.
we need a better contract on this lad

| Tbf to Murphy the bounce of the ball of the first run where Mamo caught him was really low and awkward, thought he did phenomenal to take it so cleanly. That slowed him down, if it was a fortunate bounce and clean take I think he’d of skinned Mamo first up. The second try I’ve seen him score a few like that in the academy, with one at Sandal RU against Warrington academy being a peach too. Nice to see him doing it in the big boy league.

I’d say his defence is far superior to Johnstones at this stage. He’s made some big plays already. Big try saving tackle on Faraimo just before half time.

Spot on bounce of ball did slow him down ,also agree about is tackling. Looks like a great prospect

No he's not. Sorry but you're wrong.
I honestly don't like comparing players, especially new versus established, its pointless.
I do agree his defence is a big plus. However he hasn't got TJ's instinct or natural ability if you take away the pace (and we know how quickly that can go) and I will bet your house he will not be as prolific. However he's spot on for us.
I suspect you are biased as you will know the lad. I to am biased as I was definitely the first on here to sing his praises, not much over a year ago, which is an amazing rise! However I have to be honest if Tom hadn't been injured half his career we wouldn't even be having this conversation.
Lets not over burden the lad with expectations and let's not degrade a genuine Trinity superstar and legend. Lewis will find his own way in the game, he doesn't need to be compared to TJ, two very different players.

We have really missed Kershaw out with an ACL but the wing spot is his to lose again after last night.
Murphy ever since watching him in the academy last year I’ve been singing his praises and could tell he would make the grade. He was head and shoulders the best winger in the academy competition last year for sure.
I still can’t believe we have been running with a left edge of a 19/20 year old who between them at season start had 4 superleague appearances between them! These lads have a big future BUT they need the games they’re currently getting to keep developing thier games further.

Lewis is an out and out winger of the old school.
Kershaw is clearly a decent winger but his gift is as a yardage maker, he hurts his opponents, he simply never goes backwards.
We need both and we have them.
This has been an awful season and despite the attempts of a certain poster to point score it could still end up being the worst ever - relegation.
The one shining light has been the continual development of youngsters.
Staying or going Batchelor has stepped up a notch.
Crowther has improved again.
Hall, what can you say, a total find.
Murphy and Kershaw, already noted.
Aydin getting game time, even at Leeds.
Eseh looking good at Fev and so on.
It takes time for a well run Academy to really start producing in quantity and quality but we are getting there. At some point we will get our version of the golden generation if we stay the course this season.

Agree with all of that to be honest. It’s just a matter of time for these players to mature properly. Hopefully time we can continue to give them by staying up.
Batchelor should have always been playing right second row for me. He’s taken a while to get to the player he is but he’s certainly looking like a good SL player now.
I’m excited for the future and the academy is certainly the way to go for teams with limited budget like us.

i totally agree and its made such a difference to the team. For me Pitts has been good but his time is up. Taginoa although can cause havoc is a bit dodgy in defence. Batch is by far the most effective in the right second row slot. I am really suprised no one asked Carter about his future, because the rumours I am hearing the club have made a massive error.

| Watching the Murphy second try, just for a moment reminds me of how Allan Hunt was for Trinity just before Saints snapped him up. We need to get him secured with a decent contract, difficult I know due to the uncertainty of securing our SL position.

Regarding Batchelor and Miller.....the question was asked would they both be here next year and his reply was he genuinely didn't know what was happening as yet. Also said the club had fought off enquiries about Hall, Murphy and Tanginoa.

Thought Crowther was outstanding last night. If he was 6:4 and 17/18 stone with his heart and passion he’d be another Sam Burgess. The lad bleeds Trinity, puts his body on the line, and his silky pass to Miller from dummy half set up the motion to put Ashurst through the gap.

Batchelor has an enormous engine. He was sprinting back to the defensive line and put in an enormous amount of work on that right edge. He should remain in right second row next week.
I would spell Tanginoa on the left with Ashurst to be honest next week. To be fair though I wouldn’t blame anyone for keeping the same team on the whole as that was our best performance of the season.
If there is any chance at all that we can keep Batchelor then I hope we try. He’s the natural replacement for Pitts and he’s about to hit his prime.
Glad we have knocked back any approaches for Hall and Murphy. These lads are the future and will be even better next year for us with the experience their getting this year.

He’s got the potential to bring so much more value to Trinity and have a better career, he also has the potential to add a good bit more mass without sacrificing athleticism given his frame.
Hara to compare the 2 on ability at this stage however his ability to read the game in defence is much better than TJ’s though, that can’t be denied.

I agree some of the tackles Crowther put in were outstanding and his pass from dummy half to Lino for Ashurst try was a blinder. He’s not small though at over 6 1 foot tall and 16 stone! He’ll get bigger as he gets older
