Shame but not surprising its ended this way. He's been brilliant for us and his strike in an underperforming team speaks for itself. Guess it means he will miss the WC too, whatever slim chance he had of making it.

For his sake I hope the surgery and rest will mean he is fit and raring to go in France and will be able to showcase his talent to its fullest capacity.

I hope it goes well for him, and I thank him for his efforts over the years - it's been a challenge for him scoring believable tries in an underperforming team and for the club to keep him on the field to do that.
Perhaps it's better for all concerned that we all move on in our separate ways.
Wish you were staying Tom but not to be good luck - except when your playing us!

That unbelievable TJ performance against Huddersfield at Belle Vue will stick in my mind forever. Good luck and take it easy against us when (if) you appear back at BV.

Yet in a way I’m glad. That whole team from 2016 - 2019 has now faded away and we need to start again.

Tom is a rare talent and the above team supported it but now it can’t. He no longer fits and he’s not what we need, he’d be utterly wasted with this lot.

We now have a team full of the untalented or the past it. If we survive this year it will be a triumph of mediocrity.

Four years ago we had a team that contained perhaps half a dozen players who would get a gig in any SL team. The last one left was Tom and he’s off.

We now have dads army, some half promising youngsters and a bunch of dodgy mercenaries. Oh happy days.

Pretty much agree with your post and from his debut at Leeds, which is THE best debut from a youngster that I've ever seen (and by some distance), he has been quality, absolute quality.
The bit that I disagree with is "no longer what we need".
The lad can and has won games single handed for us and we could do with that more than ever, a bit of sparkle and X factor to turn a narrow loss into a narrow victory and it's real shame that we have had to do without him for most of the season.

I hope that he can get over his injuries and really shine for Catalan and hopefully for England.

It's been an absolute privilege to have him at Trinity and witness so many remarkable moments.

Sad we’ll not see him in our colours again, i was hoping he’d get back for the last month and give us a bit of X factor to steer us to safety. He’s been one if the best wingers we’ve had, a genuine game changer. Hopefully he will get a good run with his fitness now and he gets the success his ability deserves.

Welcome to the dark side after finally seeing the light (nothing like a mixed metaphor). We had a chance to actually build a successful squad but unfortunately squandered it. Why maybe mediocrity is more economical but once you start you can seldom stop the slide without far greater investment to persuade the better players to join a club in decline.

If we had not gone down the route we did then TJ like he said in an interview after the Leeds game when asked why he stayed with us would not signing elsewhere and we would not be in the position we are.

So no thanks for the memories, muses on his performances for us, just digs?!

No digs he was box office and he deserves his chance at success and silverware like any that leave us do. What I was pointing out is that we had a moment when that could have been at Trinity which he stated in an interview. We missed that as a club so he must move on because a rugby career is short and his rare talents would be otherwise wasted.

I guess you asked him to know that he would not have signed then?

As for the major gap left behind we’ve still got some great wingers in Murphy, Taufua and Kershaw.

Don’t flatter yourself.

The difference is I understand why we are where we are whilst you just want to play blame games.

This current situation was bound to happen as finally we have a BOD brave enough to make strategic decisions.

We simply couldn’t carry on as we were. To stand any chance of future success the club needed to be quite literally rebuilt. Without it we were out of SL regardless of how good a team we might have.

That meant something had to give and that until the off field club was sorted we’d struggle. Well we are, it’s a shame because even with a reduced budget the team we put together should be better. The fault for this lays totally with the players and the coaches. I doubt the BOD expected much but they will have expected more than this.

Great plans sometimes fail and that may be the case here, such is life. But let’s be in no doubt, if we hadn’t spent every penny we can spare on the new ground and infrastructure we would be kicked out of SL regardless. To believe anything else is an utter fantasy.

We had to go make or break and this is it. We will either stay up and hopefully rise to greater things or go down and find our level. There was simply no other option imho despite what some seem to think.
