| Linked with us for next year. Personally I think it would be a great addition. Yes he’s 32, but he’s a cracking playing and defence is second to none.

| When I saw he was leaving Salford I assumed it would be to us.
I’m expecting Gale too to be honest.
Taylor I think is a cracking player tough and uncompromising forward. I’ve no doubt he could give us 1 maybe 2 good years.
Gale (if my guess is true) could go either way. We were told that Lino was the replacement for Finn we had lacked in the controlling half position. Lino is a quality half but he isn’t that type of player.
Gale could be the man to take on that role but I do worry about his attitude. Prone to having a good sulk if things don’t go his way, which invariably they won’t week in week out at Trinity.

| Well they fit the age profile but on reflection Taylor may be a little on the youthful side. I would prefer we try to keep the existing contracted player than going down what could be considered the Brough route. I would hope we have learned our lesson but maybe not.

I’m not convinced by this purely because for next season signed up we have
LF -
Crowther (who is improving with consistent game time)
Pitts - looks to be doing a good job moving to 13
O’Donnovan - doesn’t seem to be getting the opportunities as yet.
Bowes - can play 13 too.
Battye - at a push can spell at 13.
I honestly don’t think he would offer more than Crowther/Pitts.
I who knows though. Maybe he will be a quality addition.

Shame we don’t have a young half coming through that’s almost ready.
I would rather us use our quota spots on prop/halfback position if necessery. That’s assuming Miller is even leaving. News is pretty quiet from the club on signings.

| Offers nothing that Crowther already doesn’t. 33 at the start of next season, released by Salford as he’s asking for too much money and very much on the way down. No thanks.
And as for Gale, it’s time for him to retire. Too old, too slow, too expensive, he’s done.

Yes I think I agree with the above. Crowther especially is finally starting to look every bit a superleague standard LF and some of that is regular game time. I honestly don’t think it’s a necessery signing.
I would much rather us look for a quality half (If Miller is going) or a set of quality props. Would rather see us look for a destructive wide runner SR of Batch is leaving.
We must get recruitment right for 2023.

| Bowes at 13 - no thanks we have better. Bowes is a good prospect at No 9.Where the heck does this come about Gale? He's had his best years elsewhere and nearing the end of his career. I know that Finn was also nearing the end when he came to us but I'd have Finn anyday instead of Gale.
Don't like him and wouldn't like him wearing the RW and B.

Bowes has played a number of games at 13 I believe. And nobody is saying he should start there. He is simply an option should it be needed.
Not sure where this Gale rumour has come from. First I’ve heard of it. Can’t see much available in the UK so if Miller has gone we would need to consider what’s here or look at the NRL for a quota player.

| So sad to hear about possibly signing these 2 old men who CANNOT play a long season at that age, do we never learn, we have a problem playing for 80 minutes, we already have too many 30 + players, we simply do not deliver good young players that we believe in, yes we have young players but we have very little faith in them !
I hoped with WP, we would change our culture, but it seems same of/as before, I am in praise of Carter but, I am afraid we are held back by lack of vision !

| It amazes me how some people A know better than the coaching staff and B pre judge potential signings based on age.
Funny because ZIp zip and Ray Price were old when they joined us and they did.
Funny was the most recent.
Even funnier is that the same posters criticised the signing of Hall and even more Butler because they were too young and inexperienced.
Does anyone else get the feeling that the club just can’t win with some posters.

I think on the outside looking in we appear to be losing Batchelor who is a promising young forward and bringing in a player who may do a solid job but is effectively another short term stop gap. Being the Salford captain and ex NZ international I would imagine he will be far more expensive than Batchelor potential contract. Personally it’s a very short term thinking signing. We will have Pitts, Ashurst, Taylor all at the tail end of their careers who will very soon (next 1/2 years) need to be replaced by good quality SL standard players. Maybe the players just aren’t available to us and we have little options available to us. I don’t think it would be a needed signing as I see Ashurst, Pitts and Crowther in the 11/12/13 positions next year with Tanginoa coming off the bench and Pitts moving to 13. It’s the coaches call and he will reap the rewards or fall to the sword on the recruitment choices he makes. I can totally accept that.
If we sign him I won’t rubbish him and will support him. He gets the same chance any new player does. Think we are in silly season at the moment though with rumours flying round everywhere. Most won’t be true.

Yes of course they can win but so do the team, sufficiently so to avoid our current trend of bouncing along the bottom. To do this they need to sign players who can improve the squad not fill a shirt. I think we have now cleaned out the London squad. I see you quote Butler, he could be a good signing but that decision cannot be made on his current time on the field. The reference to zip zip would be valid but he was only 28 when he played for us so not really in the veteran stage of his career. With regards Ray Price he was a proven class player with a long and distinguished career in the NRL and for Australia. The ones we sign of that age had not reached the level of Ray Price.

Fair enough I just don't see him there even as a stop gap - but we all have our opinions.
Gale is one of those players who doesn't exactly endear himself to opposing fans, but I have absolutely no say in whether he comes our way or not - quite rightly!
I personally hope we don't go for him, but if we do and he plays, then I will have to support him because the club comes before my feelings for a player! That really means I'll eat humble pie - but only if he is still able to do it for Trinity.

| Taylor would be a great signing but Gale? No no no and another no! Wakefield could do much better than a limited halfback who has issues.
I hope for your sake you stay well clear.

| Gale did nothing at Leeds (the club he always wanted to play for !!) and has done even less at Hull, so why on earth would we want him ??....he was good 4 years ago, but IMO has now passed his sell-by-date...no thanks.

I think Ray Price was a bit of a one off. Ageing NRL imports are a huge gamble. One more recent player for us should confirm that. Also Steve Ella was 28 when he came over.
Personally, we have Batch, Crowther, Pitts and even Walker who can play there.
If Miller and Lino are going, we may be best advised to look at quota spots for our halves.
It is also a no from.me, regarding Gale. Ageing, injury and ban prone nowadays. What % of games has he played since he left Castleford

Batch and Walker I are out of contract and as it stands won’t be here next season. If we want them we will have to sign them assuming others haven’t already. I can see Walker going back to the championship.
Not sure where this Lino rumour has come from. He’s under contract and I would highly doubt he will be going anywhere.

Think W Poaching as done ok + at signing younger player's Think is signings are going ok for the cash he had left to spend .The problem we have with some of our young players is they are not good enough yet to play S L..We do not get first pick of the crop ,as big clubs can offer more cash to players 20 to 25 .Think W Poaching can see with the team he took over, old men may win you a game with a 7 to 14 day turn around .But the problems start when it's 3 games in 18 days or less

| After having the misfortune of watching Wires v Hull , a more inept performance by two of the supposedly big clubs you’d be hard pressed to find ,but it fills me with hope that a win tomorrow will really throw the cat amongst the pigeons and Toulouse will be a distant memory. Imo Saints ,Wigan , Les Cats and Shudds are realistically the top four with the rest up for grabs , now I’m not getting above my station here but we certainly can achieve a respectable mid table position which in my books would be a real achievement and one I think we are certainly capable of . The game tomorrow take a real importance on for me , not season defining, but could be a big piece in the jigsaw as a club ,from getting up off the canvas when every Tom Dick n Harry had us as dead ringers for the fall, to sticking two fingers up to all n sundry and claiming our rightful place in Super league.

Of all the rumours floating about on here, this is the one with the least substance. Where has this rumour even come from? Talk about looking for problems.
