Say what you want about her she pushes Wakey like no other. Her current series my Yorkshire may as well be called my Wakey. Some really good old footage of the city and a big plug for aNeil Fox.

Great plug for the city, but it was sad to see that old sixties footage of the outdoor market with the crowds hardly able to move between the stalls. A great place to be back in the day. The number of cars that park in the official car park at Newmillerdam, and on Barnsley Road near the old railway track has shown a significant increase since the lass gave the area all that on screen publicity.. Hope the series gives a plug for Trinity before it ends.

How many episodes have been done so far ? Found it by accident seen the one at the mining museum and the working mens club and the one about kneresborough and Brid but can't recall a mention of big Neil .

A previous episode showed her cleaning her 'star' near the Bull Ring. She showed Neil Fox's star as well.

Funny thing is I don’t think the nation needs reminding of Trinity it’s the city itself. That’s the tragedy.

A few year ago when she was on that show Loose Women apparently she was always on to her mates about Allum's pies, eventually they called her bluff and asked her to bring some in, not wanting to be proved wrong she got onto Jonty and asked him to bring a tray full down on the train to the studios which he promptly did and were devoured on the studio set.

Oddly enough they started in Holmfirth and I suddenly received about 6 calls asking if some of the cars in the Oil can cafe were mine, which they were, several friends were on the programme that day also.

Like a lot on here I can remember when the outdoor market was in its pomp and as a teenager spent many a happy hour on the "ark" the speedway ride just as you came in from the kirk gate end.

On the subject of her RL credentials I did see her a couple of times at Sammy s when they used to have talent nights, and she seemed quite friendly with the Sampson clan so who knows

What makes it so sad is when you watch the early seventies footage the city look so vibrant and oddly far bigger. Even though technically the place is bigger now than then. People everywhere.

The mid 90’s was the last time it was even close to how I remember the seventies. Not just Wakey I know but I can’t help but believe that those of us born in the fifties and sixties probably had it as good as it’s ever likely to be in terms of lifestyle.

I’m aware it wasn’t the same for everyone, nor am I a Luddite it’s just a nagging feeling that life’s going to get a lot harder for my kids and grandkids.

Don't think you need to be a fan to enjoy it, it's the subject, not the presenter. If I applied that logic to RL I'd never watch it on TV!



Yes, she grates at times but I do think she's genuine in her love for the place.

I have to say if I was Wakefield born and bred I would be really chuffed how often she does mention the town at every opportunity.
I`ve seen her on the Cruising programmes and on my Yorkshire and she never fails to mention Wakey in a very good light.
She is a bit like marmite but I have grown to like her over the years especially as she appears proud not only of Wakefield but her background and family loyalties.

My daughter works at the Dam Inn on Barnsley Road and she spent a lot of the time there during the filming of the Newmillerdam scenes. . She says that she is just the same off camera and a genuine nice lass..

I met her once, she was great. Really genuine and down to earth.
While not a Trinity supporter as such she says she likes us to do well.
