League Express report suggests that the club hopes to hear to PP result this week...is it scheduled to be heard?

The June Highways and planning meeting for the 17th was cancelled, the council website shows the next planning meeting is scheduled for Thursday 15th of July. Unless the planning application for the Newmarket plot 8 is being heard along with the Stadium application, then this date will be of no interest to us. I feel that we are still being led down the very long garden path by Yorkcourt/Henry Boot, or whoever is in charge of the Enabling application.

Sadly, there’s nothing to see regarding the Stadium/ plot 8 enabling applications. I’m sure there must be something that WMDC could do resolve this stalemate, if only they cared enough. The September start date for this year must cert e a none starter now.

From what most people have said, planning permission is pretty much sealed. We just don't have the brass to do anything (yet)

Featherstone are in WMDC so why wouldn’t she. All I ask is we get treated fairly I don’t expect us to get special treatment, that would be plain wrong.

I wish Fev well, great fans and well run. I have serious doubts they could prosper in SL but as it stands they may get a chance.

It does not take a genius to say to the yor k court developer, pay up your agreed sum for the stadium Project to a bank holding trust
& Then we will agree to what you want to develop all as all parties now agree, if not leave as previously requested as this cannot go on
or forward !
The council are as inept as the developer is constipated, they deserve each other, proof the council's help to fev is crap !

Why don't you drop them a line then and get it sorted.

Just a photo opportunity and boost for the local councillor, Stadium wise they are way ahead of Trinity and won't have much to do to tick the remaining SL boxes, should they get the opportunity and If they do I wouldn't be surprised to see them doing a Trinity and sticking around for a good while despite others expecting failure.

I agree they are ahead in many respects but you’re missing two vital issues.

One, there floodlights will require an update. Possibly not as expensive as ours but it will be needed.

They need to heavily upgrade their corporate, two boxes last time I was there.

But the one that really scuppers them is the sloping pitch.

I know you like to argue with me but I don’t think anyone can deny that a heavily sloping pitch is utterly unacceptable for the top flight of any sport in 2022

It will have to be addressed, in fact it should have been years ago. It may have been quaint once but not now. How much I’ve no idea, I suspect a 4G pitch may well be a solution for them as at least it will recoup the costs.

I get your point that it isn't really right for modern day sport but I can't see anyone making them change it.

Next up, they will be demanding that the playing surface is flat and 100 metres long and without any concrete walls within inches of the field of play

gawd is hardly a show stopper, I'll be doing my back lawn soon, dig it up, level it lay the grass back down or get new you just do it on a bigger scale

Frankly I don’t care how they do it nor does it need to be snooker table flat however it is or should be a show stopper in my book.

One it makes our sport look even more backwards than it already does.

It gives Fev an advantage, I’ve played on it and the slope is not gentle it has an affect on how you play, a distinct advantage to the team that plays on it regularly.

Unlike Bradford’s narrow pitch it’s not technically against the rules but it should be. It’s exactly the same issue, there has to be a basic standard for a pitch and a serious slope should be one.

I’d prefer to see Fev more than any other team in SL but that one imho should be sorted.

Should be a level playing field for me for all teams.......

Don't know if it's changed these days, but at one time each side that played Batley at Mount Pleasant were issued with crampons before the start.

Certainly undersized and substandard, but significantly bigger than Fev.

Nowhere near as much as Fev, but I believe it’s shorter than it should be?

Didn't Fev level their pitch off a bit when they last re-did the turf so while it still slopes it not as much? Sure i read that, might be wrong.

I think there was talk but I saw no evidence.

I was involved in the building of the first new Fev stand in 1985 and if you sit opposite it you can clearly see the slope and it’s a lot. It still looks the same to me.

Levelling it doesn’t look that difficult to me but what do I know.
