| Sorry PT, but I had to comment after just watching it , on my own. Wow, what a guy and what a family he has around him. How emotional that was, a true hero I’m stuck for words. I hope they find a cure soon for future sufferers

| I watched it again myself, BLM and sat and reflected on it for a while. I make no apologies for what I'm going to say, but on the spectrum of humanity on one end we have Rob Burrow, and on the opposite end we have Donald Trump. And people tell me there's a God!! My heart goes out to the lad and his family. I have to admit that before this horrible illness he was to me another of those pesky "Leeds Rhinos brats", but he was always the most acceptable of them all. Keep battling on Rob, lad.

I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before, but I had the pleasure of first meeting Rob at Horbury Academy, believe it or not he presented Jordan with a trophy, Wakefield were playing Leeds the following Friday and we had a good natter about it, what a true gentleman he was, understand what you’re saying regarding Leeds players but strangely never thought of him ever in the same category, I can’t speak highly enough about him.

| Know him quite well from my three years at the Rhinos.
Back then, he had just come up through the academy.
Watched the documentary tonight, and found it very difficult.
Hopefully, a cure for this awful disease can be found very quickly, before it takes hold of other people’s lives

| Heartbreaking, I coached Rob when he was younger and he always made a point of having a natter when he saw me. Lovely parents as well. Its only 3 months since I spoke to his uncle who said he was fine apart from his voice so things have gone downhill rapidly. Impossible to hold back the tears.

| Glad you started this thread BLM as I noticed that the other one has been locked.
I watched it last night and as I suspected I knew it would be a difficult watch, even as someone who unfortunately has had to care for people with this horrible condition.
What struck me so much was the sad and quick deterioration in Rob's condition, but his outlook on like is so positive.
He always has been my fave Dirty Leeds player, the little guy thinking he's a big guy and chasing a big dirty Hull player up the park wanting to fight him.....
All the best to Rob and his family.

I’ve seen a lot of upsetting things during my 38 mining career and thought I was hardened to things but obviously not then add kids into the equation makes it even more upsetting, glad I watched it but I’ll be thinking about it for ages now.

| Heartbreaking watching him dazzle on the field at such an early age and make it all the way to the top in a sport that was all about bigger is better .An inspirational guy ,and one I loved to watch play as long as it wasn’t against us.How cruel to be struck down in his prime with such a young family to care for ,very humbling and thought provoking and I truly wish the lad and his family all the best ,a real choker of a program for me

| Some lovely heartfelt comments on here from you Trin fans regarding Rob's cruel disease
We all have our rivalries on game day, Myself included
But IMO we have the best sporting family in the world and the way that the RL world has stood strong behind Rob is a testament to that

| Watching the 2015 Huddersfield v Leeds game on Sky, Rob was tearing up and down, at the heart of everything, 5 years on its unbelievable, so sad, life’s not fair at all.

| No problem with this thread.
Breaks my heart every time I see him on TV.
He could so easily have hid in a corner and felt sorry for himself. Great great man.
Sinfield gets a mention on this from me. I hope when I'm in need I have a friend like him to step up.

I couldn’t watch it all the way through. I tend not to get emotional about people who I only know through there fame, seems false to me but this did.
Was I sad when Diana died, shocked yes but not upset.
Occasionally though you come across someone who’s gifted and in Robs case modestly famous but who somehow manages to appear ordinary, just like us.
I wasn’t sad for RB the player, it was RB the man , he just seems so human in a way most famous people including sportsman often don’t.
Couldn’t have happened to a nicer man they say, how like the rest of us is that? Who can’t connect to a man or women like that. He represents the thousands of ordinary people who suffer everyday, he doesn’t think he’s special, just unlucky.
Really sad yet oddly uplifting.

Well said, vasty.
From what I've seen Rob is the product of a good upstanding loving family, and that seems to have rubbed off on himself. During his playing days to me, whilst I acknowledged his great skill, he was just another of those pesky Rhino brats that came through at roughly the same time ie Sinfield, JJB, Peacock, Mcguire et al. Didn't you just love to hate them? How mistaken can you be. A genuine hero. Keep battling on Rob owd lad.

And he's such a decent bloke.
It's absolutely gut wrenching to watch a young lad go from where he was just a couple of years ago, to where he is right now.
Superb family and a couple of youngsters.
You'd need a heart of stone not to be moved by the documentary and the lad needs some kind of miracle.
It's so utterly sad and grossly unfair.

| There has to be massive credit given to Leeds and some of their senior guys on how they have dealt with this too.
The support from the club and his ex team mates makes you proud to be involved in RL and Sinfield, has been top drawer with his own efforts
They are certainly doing all they can for both Burrow and the MND charity

| I've said it before but never had any time for Sinfield prior to this. All those Leeds fans dubbing him Sir Kevin Sinfield made my stomach turn but now I actually would like to see him recognized for his efforts.
Burrow has been inspirational in the way he has tackled this and Sinfield no less inspirational in the effort he put into helping out his mate and raising much needed funds for research into this debilitating illness.
I salute both of them.

It demonstrates to me how team spirit is so important and why that Leeds team was so good, they were as one.
By team spirit, I don't mean attending new years eve parties in defiance of the law, I mean team spirit and friendship on and off the pitch for life. See Fox and Brooke for another example.

Not good FIL - unfortunately I think the game had gone so far towards speed and power that injuries to the brain I would have thought were more likely.
You can build muscles to protect the torso but the head is totally unprotected.
I don’t profess to know the answer but if they ever run about equipped like American footballers then that would be the day I stopped watching!

I get your point 1315, but even all the protection that American Football players wear doesn't offer them a great deal of protection. If you've never seen it then the 2015 film "Concussion" starring Will Smith is a very worthwhile watch....

| I must say that the concussion, head knocks are always on my mind, no pun intended when you think of the average career of a RL player, not including the amateur years, possibly 10 to 15 years, the amount of collisions they must endure especially the forwards, frightening really.
