No he’s got as long as he wants within reason. As of midnight he’s a free agent but can still turn out for Trinity on a match basis if both parties agree. Then he will have to wait and see if the offers come flooding in and if they don’t then he’ll have to hope Trinity’s offer is still open.
It’s risky for a player but if he wants to back himself then so be it. Let’s face it we don’t know what offers are out there.

Watching how Josh Drinkwater's playing, I wouldn't be surprised if Hull kr do!

If they rate him higher than we do wage wise, then so be it, frankly never rated Drinkwater. Interesting though that he’s another player who hung on and on for a better deal and it hasn’t worked out.
That said I do rate Hampshire a lot higher both as a player and individual though it’s fairly subjective as I’ve never met either.

Unless the club has told him to make a decision? Lets not forget it works both ways, as of tomorrow the club are free to speak to players OOC, the longer we leave it to look for a replacement the harder we are going to find it.

| I really like Hampshire and I feel he could be a massive part of the future of the team if he signs but there does seem to have always been an element of Wakefield not being good enough for him or there has been a certain reluctance, at least as I have perceived it, to be a Wakefield player. Wakefield has probably given him more game time than Castleford or Wigan. He probably has the support of more people here than he did at both those clubs yet he doesn't exactly seem to be jumping at the opportunity that has been handed to him, especially when the likes of Fifita have pledged their future. I could be totally wrong in that perception. Just my two penneth. Think Ryan is a cracking player though and I actually do think he has the ability to be one of super league's best fullbacks with a tweaking of his game.

He’a not a free agent, he is under contract until the end of the season whatever. The deadline is purely club placed as to whether he accepts their new offer or not. Clubs have been able to talk to out of contract players since 1st May, so if he declines then we need to move quickly to secure a replacement, although feelers will likely be have been out already.

Fair enough, either way he can carry on playing and won’t turn into a pumpkin at midnight

My thoughts exactly. I really thought he would have jumped at the chance of a longer contract, but perhaps the thoughts of getting more money elsewhere may explain his reluctance to sign.
Good player and I wish he'd sign, but if not, the club is much bigger than RH and we move on.

I've never met Drinkwater but Hamsh is a lovely lad, no edge to him and has time for everyone, a great lad.

| I really don't understand how people think they can judge a person's personality by a snippet of information. Especially if that is that they just haven't signed a contract yet. Who knows what is holding it up? It might just be fine details in a contract that mean a lot to him. But even if it is more money, that's a choice that we would all make. He doesn't have to want to play for a club just because you support them, and it doesn't mean he is any kind of mercenary if he goes to more than one club.

He, along with every other player, has to do what he believes is best for him and there will be multiple reasons for the choice thet he makes.
Equally, Trinity, have to make their own plans and if they deem that they have given him sufficient time to sign on the dotted line, they too will need to make their own choice.
As you say, nobody on here will be privy to the detail and nor should they be.
It would be great if he stays as he's an exciting player and still young but, if he moves on there is nothing we can do about it and we will soon be cheering on his replacement.

There'll be no doubt about that with the current people in charge. Complete faith in that. I think one thing as Wakefield fans we can all agree on is that we are currently in the best hands we have had for a long long time.

Exactly. Whoever it is , we have to stick to the wage structure and budget. We had bankruptcy and points deductions... never want to go there again. I hope Ryan stays but he has to accept the wages we can offer

| Not sure that a que would form for Ryans signature, and if they did would he be getting regular game time in the FB or SO positions. Someone at the club will probably know the outcome and Ryans intentions.
For me if he goes the club would be better off with an early indication so plans can be made. I think we have good cover at F B but would probably have to look to appoint a regular half back. Reynolds may fit well

| We've been talking to him for a while as cover. MC said so on here.
Doesn't mean he hasn't signed but we are certainly talking to him with him not signing in mind.

| I like Ryan - totally, I do & would like him to sign for us, however, wigan fans describe him as a journey man always seeking more, but that to me is on every players thoughts, but some care more than others considering balance in pay, regular first team & being happy at a club playing with life long friends rather than always chasing higher money choose what ever outcome. It is however his life to choose, we as a club need to move on, plan & consolidate rather than hold on too long & loose out on others availability !

By your own admission you like "Ryan" totally and would like him to re-sign for the club, presumably that's based on his performances for us, that being the case why would you prefer to listen to what fans from another club have to say about him, like yourself based on ignorance.

| Think he's a very good player, versatile and obviously knows the club more than a new signing would. That said we don't have unlimited resources and i'm sure MC and co offered what they think was a fair deal. Walker looks a real talent so if he fits within the wage structure and Rocky doesn't then so be it.

| Until arriving at BV, Hampshire had had 3 clubs in as many seasons Wigan, Leigh and Cas and at Trinity, he seems to fit really well and he's certainly popular with the fans.
Although we all have bills to pay and family etc to look after, it seems from the outside like a hell of a gamble to be moving again.
It would be a sham if he were to go but, a game of who blinks first will only see one winner here and the Club has to come first.
