What a strange outfit Catalan have become; they've got some star names and can certainly play when they choose to - but they just don't seem to choose to for more than short bursts. During certain parts of the game, they matched Saints and looked like a tough prospect - but then they implode and look totally directionless.

Hard to call - because we were hardly a well oiled machine on Friday night either. Could well be another arm wrestle.

I agree. I think it will be an arm wrestle with no easy prediction about which is going to win. For both sides it's going to be who turns up with the right attitude and patience. We can win it but it will need effort and some brains.

Its all about dropped ball and penalties again for me, the oil will start dripping in eventually.
Cats error and penalty stats are the equal of ours, yet the table has us at 4 and them at 0, its not gonna take much of a swing to reverse results in that regard.

We've got a week off, I'm not sure that's such a good thing at this stage of the season. Catalans play KR on Thursday. We should win at Catalans but need to be at our best, they showed in the 2nd half against Sts they are capable enough. That said, I think we will win.

To freshen things up a bit I would like to see Batchelor and Arundell get game in place of Lyne and Kirmond.

Could do with a run out during the week off, 2 games in and we're already dropping out the loop for a week, bit poor that.
S'pose they'll make up for it later on in the season with 3 games in a bladdy week...

Look on the bright side, Catalans could pick up a few injuries at KR this week.

Agree, we need to generally tidy our game up and we've got the players that can put the points on th e board if they're given the right chances.

Although we've been really pinged this season so far & some of them have been head-scratchers imo especially when the opposition does exactly the same thing and it goes unpunished. But anyway we need to get back doing what we did last season, complete the sets and cut the errors out. Maybe a bit of better weather in the South of France will enable us to play a more error/penalty free RL.

Just looking at the errors for other sides & Saints have just one less than us, Wigan one more & Leeds 7 more, it's the penalties that stick out the most with us, Wire and Hudds at 22, saying that all teams have given away quite a few so far, Saints being the best at 13. In a way, it reflects the games I've watched so far, that there's generally been a lot of penalties and errors in the first couple if games.

I watched both ours and there games this weekend - I don't not think we will beat them, our attack looks pedestrian,

although the track should be fast that will help us a bit

Catalans had Saints down to 12 men and I thought they only started to look anything like when Saints went down a man. Yes, I know Catalans had a sin bin a bit after but, for about a 1/4 of the game they played a 12 man side and should have made more of that especially at home.
We've got a decent record against Catalans at home the last couple of years beating them both times, so I'd take confidence from that.

Saying that you don't know what you're going to get from Catalans at home these days, it used to be a bit of a fortress for them, not so recently but they have the players to win games.

At some point Catalan will spark into life and when they do they will be a match for anyone especially at home.

I don't think they are top 4 at all but they should be a top 8 side. What we need to be is the team that gets McNamara sacked not the team that saves his career (not personal against McNamara by the way).

Also Catalan have been rich pickings for us recently, the law of averages are also against us a bit.

I am expecting us to turn up and do the job. It will be different to playing there in midsummer. The one to watch from the first few games I would say is Mead.

I would be disappointed to return without two points. Equally, failing to win is not the end of the world.

Actually last seasons top 8 play a league game when it's the round of the challenge cup when the bottom 4 have to play

Looking at tonight's game, if Catalan play like that, we shouldn't have much of a problem
