I know there's a separate thread, but I'm putting this here because of a tweet from MC this morning that read:
"5 years since the govt said yes to NM & still not a single brick laid. Time to ramp up the pressure again. Where's those that made promises?"

The subtext to that is that those with influence have lost interest. It is certainly not consistent with a positive statement later this week.

Has it all gone pear-shaped once more? Does anyone know anything?

Peter Box did what he needed to do to damp down the uptick in media attention - a few empty promises and some weasel words - and now he's disappeared back into his lair.

Election over, can go back to business as usual!

Reading a comment from a developer on J31 stating that commercial units on this part of M62 corridor demand outstrips supply. The site would have been filled and stadium built years ago if they wanted. We must have a corrupt or incompetent council or both.

Let me make one thing clear though. Box is banking on disinterest because he can't take much more pressure. He's safe politically but he's an utter egotist and like many politicians he thinks he's a man of the people. Threatening that legacy is our best weapon, whether that's through public opinion or through the courts.

At the moment he's emboldened by Labours increased support, this I can assure you he will have taken as a personal vote of confidence, this is the level of self worship we are dealing with.

Keep the scumbag squirming by whatever means possible I say.

I'm now about to fire of a volley of e-mails at all those who showed an interest last time, especially the media - suggest you do the same if you have the time.

12th April - Peter Box promised a new Multi Party Agreement to replace the Unilateral Undertaking, since then what exactly has happened???? Not much form where I'm sitting!
Looks to me like the media need re-engaging as that's the only time he bothers even appearing to get involved.

I will, thanks very much. If you think that my vote for an effective and equitable Government has anything to do with lack of movement on the stadium front you've got a pretty loose grip on reality.

Not much point heckling the Tories now, they're in total disarray and Pickles is probably more worried about his contribution to Grenfell than he is about a (currently) non-existent stadium.

5 years ago we had a conservative coalition in power, for the past two years Newmarket has had a conservative MP, now we currently have a conservative minority government in power. I'm not sure why you're trying to pin this on a those who voted for a party who have not presided over any of it in Westminster

On the stadium however, we didnt do council elections so not really relevant. What happened to the meeting last week?

I received correspondence from Comrade Box this morning saying progress is being made and council have asked developer to make a few amendments to new agreement.
Comrade Box also states there has been a new Trust set up and the developer wants to work with them instead of old Trust.
I wonder if new Trust is headed up by Sir Rodney. If so back to square one with Walker, Mackie and Box stitching us up again.

Where are the Trust in all this? I don't like to be critical, because of the voluntary nature of the job and TRB's inevitable tantrum, but why do they persist with either silence, non-statement statements, or cryptic messages about sensitive discussions that can't be disclosed?

Why not just get the facts out there - and let people power bring Box out of hiding like it did last time? The silence is maddening, especially when Box is writing to people and giving more information than the Trust themselves.

If it's true that he failed to attend the meeting and there is no forward progress - then get back in touch with the two national journalists who ran the story originally, and tell them the facts - they love a nice easy follow up that is basically written for them; that hits social media, and bingo - another wave of negative publicity for Box and WMDC.

The councils new chief executive only started on monday so that will have slowed things down as she will have to be involved in signing anything off etc. I'm prepared to give her a bit of time to get her feet under the table and get up to speed with all the goings on. We then need a meeting with her spelling out the true gravitas of the situation and if there is no positive outcome from that then it's time to go to town. But it's not only courtesy to give her chance to prove herself and find out her opinions it also removes a convenient excuse for the council by moving on them too soon, by then she will have no excuse not to be on the ball.

The new council executive will do exactly as Box says are lose the £ 185,000 pa position. If she questions Box she will be sacked just like Foster was at the very start of this process, he disagreed with Box, got sacked, received a £ 500,000 pay out and got a new job as Chief Executive at another council. Box is very generous with local tax payers money when it suits him.
Again not making a political point, the problem is just Box. We need to keep away from politics on this, we will just wind each other up otherwise.
