| Just a question, is it £24 for away standing, I thought it was £22 (and a bit cheaper in advance)
It's hard to argue much, regarding our facilities but, it sounds more like a load of excuses not to support their team, which is a pity.
Maybe they are worried about getting beaten

Yes, I'm not taking it too seriously Poptart. I've been to Widnes since the 70's and it has rarely provided me with much aesthetic pleasure, just skilled me up on how to minimise the risk of getting a half brick on my lap whilst travelling on the speccie coach (the tip is ALWAYS pick a seat that isn't on the pavement side).
Some of the comments make me laugh, particularly the gloating on ground improvements which (as some posters recognise) was as much to do with the willingness of Halton Council to support the improvements as it was the skilful financial guile of the Vikings Management Team. If Widnes RLFC had been playing in the Wakefield District, they would have still been enjoying the concrete bunker admission huts of Naughton Park and the rat-run ginnels around the ground which were most loved by the local scouse youth. That is a fact.
No, good luck to them, but for them to look down on us like they are Brisbane Broncos beggars belief. They do seem to have short memories but that's probably due to the chemical works at Ellesmere Port.
All joking aside, I hope for a good game on Sunday with piece and harmony on the terraces and 2 points in our back pockets to take over the common in a fortnight.

| They're right what they say we all know BV is a dump but there's never many of them to moan anyway. Nobody needs to tell about the state of BV its restricted our great club for years.

| I agree. Short memories. The old ground wasn't great.
Some of them are sensible.
But right now I'm happy for them to win the stadium competition as long as we win the game.

| Not once, did any of these comments mention the fact that 2 of the super league stadiums also host football matches for teams who have recently been in the premiership, where the facilities do tend to be better overall anyway.

| The grounds like Wigan and Hull for example are the tenants much like us however in their cases the football club decide if the ground is available. This is why Wigan and Huddersfield must play part of the summer either away or a neutral ground whilst the football club reseed the playing surface for the start of their season.

| Widnes away following is absolutely pathetic, first game of the year and moaning about paying 22-24 quid. As said, excuse to not support their team.

Won't £22-£24 be the average price for all SL clubs this season?

| Short memories a lot of these away fans. Without a kindly local council or a soccer team they'd be in the same boat as us.
I go to a game to see the action on that big green space, I couldn't give a toss about, bogs, bars, food outlets, although I will occasionally use them.

| I remember a few seasons back when we played at Widnes in their 1st game back in Super League. The rest of Super League fans predicted what a poor crowd there was going to be for the seasons opener on live TV. We took about 12 bus loads + others to contribute to a fantastic crowd and atmosphere. Same turn out last year at Cas. Maybe if we get a shiney new stadium we'll become snobby and selective about where we support our team?

| I absolutely hate new stadiums, they have no atmosphere and totally lack character. B V is just about fit for purpose and would benefit from a total re vamp however the old girls seen plenty of action over the years and holds many memories for me. Unfortunately she leaves her self open to criticism from most traveling fans. I'm more than happy to trundle on down to watch the Trin until an alternative that distances it's self from a full blooded new stadium can be found. I LOVE THE PLACE.

| I actually agree £24 is rip off and your Stadium is definitely a dump. Obviously you lot are taking the opinions to heart. If we had Naughton Park the atmosphere would be better in the Cow sheds. Anyway we are on the wrong side of the penines and definitely dislike each each other.

| I would.t carry on too much if I were a Widnes fan as their playing surface is something that would be better outside a fruiterers. Would this also be the playing surface that has recently raised concerns in football about the amount of toxins present in the turf? People who live in glass houses and all that!

Have to agree there mate, I don't think I've ever decided not to go to a game because of the state of the away teams ground.
To be honest, I couldn't give a stuff about what state someone's ground is in, if my team are playing that's what I'm there to watch. If there's a roof that keeps me dry if it's raining it's a bonus, but bearing in mind that at Belle Vue I choose to stand in front of the covered area in the North Stand even if it's bucketing it down, then it is purely a bonus and not in any means a requirement.
Poor excuses not to support your team in my opinion.
