| MC on Facebook has pretty much trashed this as being a non starter, and was opposed to any press release.
As usual all is not what it seems...

What page has he said this on? Shame if so as it is the best solution by a mile.

| Quote They've made a very small offer so that it looks good. And have done so without one shred of legally binding documents that gets the COMMUNITY stadium built at Newmarket. It's too little too late as usual. I have been against any press release until a binding agreement has been made. Surely history of the last 3 years has taught us that. I am disgusted that the council have decided to leak this.
Another false dawn, with yorkcourt taking the mick as usual...

| This is what Michael has said on facebook :
"It is not what it seems at all!! Take it all with a pinch of salt!!"

The press release is geared to make the Council and Yorkcourt look good but has Michael has said on facebook there is no substance to the offer, no agreement and not a shread of anything in writing let alone a legally binding contract - we've been there before, once burned etc.
As Michael has said, treat it with a pinch of salt and don't get excited by it.

Not as low as that but in my opinion a figure that would immediately be rejected but it looks good in the paper doesn't it and makes Yorkcourt and the Developer look like they are trying to find a solution.
There is a simple solution, deliver what you promised at the Public Inquiry.

| Sick of all this dishonest, smoke and mirrors bull crap - presuming what MC is saying is true (and I believe him, considering). All just to keep the status quo, ultimately for financial and political gain. York Court need to stick to what was agreed instead of engaging in, quite frankly, corrupt ways. More noise needs to be made about this whole situation in my opinion.

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats could stay in the city after a bid to buy the club’s current home at Belle Vue was submitted.
Yorkcourt Properties has made an offer to the ground’s current owners Bank of Ireland to buy the ground with the aim of then renting it back to the club at a reduced cost.
If agreed, Wildcats could then continue to play home games at Belle Vue until Yorkcourt Properties has built a new community stadium at Newmarket, which is expected to be complete “within five years.”
Last month Wildcats chairman Michael Carter announced the club had served its six months notice to leave Belle Vue saying the rent the club is paying is “unsustainable”, though they would be willing to stay if it can be renegotiated.
He also said he had met Dewsbury Rams chairman Mark Sawyer to discuss the possibility of a ground share and that the Cats could leave Wakefield by the end of 2015.
If the Cats did leave Wakefield it would leave the city without a professional sports team.
The Express contacted Wakefield Wildcats about the new proposal to buy Belle Vue but was told Mr Carter was unavailable for comment.
Sir Rodney Walker, chairman of Wakefield and District Community Stadium Trust, said: “I think the intention of this offer is help keep Wakefield Trinity Wildcats in the city.
“Given the fact that the club has played in the city for well over a century, it would be incredibly disappointing to everyone who has an affinity to the club if they were to move away.”
Colin Mackie, managing director of Yorkcourt Properties, submitted the offer following a meeting with Wakefield Council and Sir Rodney.
Sir Rodney said: “The objective behind the deal is to secure Belle Vue and charge the club an economical rent because the problem at the minute is the club pay a very high amount of rent which is unsustainable.
“I think this is the news that everybody has been waiting for.
“Obviously, it is still dependent on the deal being agreed though.
“If the club for whatever reason feel they have to leave the city on a temporary basis my objective has been and remains a commitment to build a new stadium in Wakefield.”
Coun Denise Jeffery, Wakefield Council’s deputy leader, said: “I am pleased Mr Mackie has confirmed his commitment to securing the future of the Wildcats in Wakefield.
“The council don’t want the club to leave Wakefield and we know how much it means to the supporters for Wildcats to be based in the city as well.
“I hope the Bank of Ireland will now agree the offer so that we can keep Wildcats in the city - where they belong.”

| Colin Mackie and WMDC collude once again to gloss over their fraudulent behaviour; with, it would seem, Rodney Walker's cooperation.
It gets better!

| Shame it appears to be a bit of a front, it the best news we've had for a while, something to generate a bit of positivity around the place.
I wonder why Carter wasn’t available for comment, was he just not asked?
What’s Walker’s angle?

Mc said on Facebook he was asked to comment yesterday by the WE but said there was nothing to say as the 'deal' isn't even a deal yet, so you can't talk about something when there's nothing to say!!!

| I find it very naïve of the WE to splash this literally all over the front page if there is no substance in it. Where the hell are their reporters in all this? They just seem to publish what anyone tells them at face value, without enquiring as to how genuine the story is! Assuming of course, that it is yet another false hope for the long suffering Wakefield Supporters.

That's the worrying bit for me. If the offer is as derisory as Michael Carter has suggested then why is Sir Rodney talking it up?? I don't doubt for one minute that this is a ploy to make Yorkcourt and the Council look good but why is Rodney not saying the same as Michael Carter?
Quite frankly, I could make an offer to BOI to buy Belle Vue and rent it back to the club but I can't see them accepting the £5 that I have spare this week!!
I realise that on the face of it it seemed like a really positive bit of news but to me they should either have said nothing until a deal was agreed, or they should make it known what they have offered to BOI to buy it so that we can see they are serious about it and not just looking for a bit of positive publicity.

The story was pushed by the Council & Yorkcourt. Michael would not comment as there is nothing of substance yet to comment on.
