Agree didn't have the confidence to take on his opposite number 10 yards out from their try line and tried to stop and check inside instead of running onto it with pace directly for the line so subsequently thrown into touch.

I dissagree, IMO the mistake was to throw the cut out pass. The correct play was to give the ball to Arrundal, all he has to do is skip out off his left foot and feed Johnstone who'd have had a walk in.

He certainly has potential but really needs a good off season to improve his upper body strength and confidence will come as a by product. Hes effectively a boy against men, getting handed off and shrugged off far too easily at his level. It will take time but i hope hes still with us as he develops

People getting on his back already?

He has bags of ptential and has already shown what he is capable of. His strength will come and when he gets a decent partnership going with a centre then we'll see the best of him. Tie him down to a decent length contract and sell him to the NRL for mega bucks in a few years (or more likely Leeds for 50p).

He's out performing much more senior players and displaying similar elements of his game that need work. Difference is he has the time and room to improve. The likes of Riley, Owen et al have reached their peak.

Let's not Dale Morton the lad. Smith is experienced enough to give him a break if he starts to struggle.

I'm baffled how anyone can say anything negative about the lad - if the whole team showed his effort and enthusiasm, we'd be halfway out of the mire we're currently in.

Clearly he has some work to do around technique and execution, but his application is spot on - he'll be a great winger in a couple of years; but probably not for us.

Johnstone's try against Leeds was 'top-drawer' and anyone with an ounce of rugby brain can see the lad has bags of potential. Anyone on his back clearly knows little about rugby league!

Johnstone is a cracking prospect, has bags of potential, skill and pace. Trinity need at least to tie him down to a 3 year contract in my opinion.

He isn't getting bagged. It was an observation on a particular play during the match which ironically Terry O'Connor and Barrie McDermott commented on Sky but also said the cut out pass to him may have also been the wrong call but that he needed to either go to ground quickly or run onto it with pace to take his opposite number.

It's a forum and sometimes people express opinions I don't agree with (e.g. Scott Anderson is rubbish when on his day he is probably best prop we've got but been unlucky with injuries) however I don't start telling them they know nothing about RL if their opinion is different to mine...

Just got home from France where I spoke to Tom after the game and could see he was gutted,I told him to keep listening.His potential is massive.Having watched Tom with Jordan in the 19s,I find it hard and annoying that some are having a go at him already.

Don't know if the term having a go is really what fans are doing. The fact that he was gutted could be classed as him having a go at himself.
I would bet that 100% of Wakefield fans want him on that wing for the next game and the foreseeable future. Could that be said about any other current player?

Its a very small minority. Most can see he gives 100% and has great potential. Same for Jordan.

Even the minority who like to moan must surely see the potential in Tom. He has skinned some top players recently.
If we don't appreciate him, you know someone else will be soon enough!
